Chapter 338: Grecian Underworld’s Reaper
In the alternate dimension, Tenraku and Rias’ group were taking a breather within the barrier.
“I’m back.” Ophis’ voice echoed, and she materialized inside the barrier.
“Ophis-Chan, are you alright? Where did you go just now?”
After the battle with the Hero faction, Ophis had mentioned that she needed to leave for a moment, and then she disappeared. Now that she was back, Asia and the others rushed to check on her with concerned expressions on their faces.
“This mistress went to retrieve the snakes.”
She opened her hand, revealing several black serpents slithering within Ophis’ grasp. After Ophis explained, everyone understood. When Samael tried to take Ophis’ power earlier, she transformed some of her power into snakes and let them escape. After Samael and Cao Cao left, she went to retrieve the snakes.
“Ophis, how are you feeling now, and how much power did you retrieve?” Tenraku inquired and he was surprised as he hadn’t expected their revered Dragon God-Sama to be quite clever.
“Weak. Only about twice as powerful as Ddraig in his prime.”
“Some of the snakes managed to escape to other dimensions. However, something is currently trying to capture this mistress. There’s also a barrier in this alternate space specifically designed to confine this mistress. For now, I can’t leave here to retrieve the other snakes.”
She said she was weak by retrieving this much power. Only managing to recover a fraction of her power, and she was only roughly comparable to Ddraig and the others in their prime. Tenraku and Rias’ group were a bit speechless, and even Ddraig and Albion within Tenraku were somewhat injured by her words.
However, managing to recover this much power was still a fortunate turn of events. Tenraku advised Ophis to rest for a bit, while Mihae, who was adept at scouting, kept a close watch on the situation in the alternate dimension.
“Lord Tenraku, the enemy has appeared!”
Not long after, Mihae, who was on guard, opened her eyes to alert everyone.
As Mihae’s words fell, a large group of Reapers, cloaked in black robes and wielding enormous scythes, appeared before them. Their numbers were vast, at least over a thousand!
Reapers generally possessed formidable combat abilities. Their scythes not only inflicted physical harm but also directly severed the lifespan and vitality of their opponents. Even Low-Class Reapers had power comparable to Middle-Class Devils!
Among these over a thousand Reapers, there were not only a majority of Low-Class Reapers but also some Middle-Class and even high-class Reapers. This formidable force was not something Tenraku and Rias’ group could afford to underestimate.
They surrounded Tenraku and Rias’ group, and three figures stood in front of the Reapers. Aside from Hero faction members Georg and Heracles, there was also a masked Reaper.
Unlike the other Reapers, the masked one exuded an immensely powerful aura. A layer of spiritual light flowed on the scythe they held, and the blade itself was a menacing black.
“Nice to meet you, the miracle of the Phenex, Kamiya Tenraku, and the younger sister of Demon King, Rias Gremory. I am one of the Grim Reapers that serves under Hades-Sama. My name is Pluto.” The masked Reaper introduced himself in a hoarse voice.
“It’s actually the legendary Pluto! A Ultimate-Class Reaper!”
Rias, upon hearing the self-introduction, looked astonished. Even those who hadn’t heard of Pluto’s name instantly understood that this was a formidable adversary.
An Ultimate-Class Reaper, an existence comparable to a Demon King!
“Pluto, the Grecian Underworld Reapers are also members of our alliance. Why would you conspire with the Khaos Brigade and turn against us?” Regaining her composure, Rias questioned in a cold tone.
“Princess Rias, I believe you’ve misunderstood something. It’s not us who betrayed the alliance, but you!”
“You’ve conspired with the terrorist Khaos Brigade, intending to secretly dismantle the alliance, and the presence of Ophis by your side is the best proof of that.”
Pluto pointed to Ophis, who was casually snacking next to Le Fay.
Though the masked Reaper wore a clown-like mask, it was easy to imagine the contemptuous smirk beneath that mask!
“You’re accusing us of conspiring with the Khaos Brigade? And what about those two beside you?!” Rias was infuriated when she heard those words and pointed to Georg and Heracles, who stood beside Pluto.
“I don’t know them.”
“Hey hey… We don’t know these esteemed Reapers either. We just happened to run into each other here.”
Pluto had an air of innocence in their tone, and the burly Heracles chuckled with a sly grin.
They were shamelessly spouting nonsense!
“Alright, Rias, there’s no need to waste time talking to them. Those Reapers and the Hero faction are colluding to capture Ophis. We can’t let them succeed.” Tenraku patted Rias on the shoulder and spoke.
“Yes, I understand.” Taking a deep breath, Rias made an effort to regain her composure. Since communication wasn’t effective, it was time to fight!
“I’ll take on the fog wielder, Rias, deal with the Reaper named Pluto. The rest of you, handle Heracles and the remaining Reapers.”
“There are too many enemies. Akeno and the others might be in danger.”
Tenraku issued the battle orders, but Rias hesitated.
Tenraku knew Rias’ concerns were valid. Asking Akeno and the others to take on so many enemies was indeed risky. So, Tenraku turned his gaze to Ophis.
“Ophis, can you help?”
“I can, but I still can’t control my power freely. I might end up hurting you all.”
“Then, let’s not risk it.”
Was it the aftermath of Samael’s influence? Since Ophis couldn’t fully control her power, it wouldn’t be wise to have her join the fight. If she accidentally harmed their side, Tenraku would have no place to hide his regret.
After some consideration, Tenraku raised his hand and released Jeanne’s team, Semiria, and his Familiar, Undine Queen.
“Jeanne, Semiria, Undine, can you lend a hand?”
“Yes, Lord Tenraku!”
“Of course, my troublesome master.”
Having learned of the situation outside, Undine Queen nodded lightly, while Semiria and her group responded respectfully. Jeanne, on the other hand, noticed Georg and Heracles nearby and couldn’t help but purse her lips, a hint of curiosity flashing in her eyes.
Seeing Jeanne and Semiria’s sudden appearance, Rias, Akeno, and the others cast a resentful glance at someone. While they knew there were other women in Tenraku’s Saints and Demons Hall, seeing it firsthand still stirred some jealousy!
Tenraku felt a bit awkward, but now wasn’t the time to explain. Although having Jeanne and Semiria join the fight helped, there was still a significant difference in numbers between the two sides. So, Tenraku activated his ability to summon hundreds of powerful Demonic Beasts.
Now, they shouldn’t be at a disadvantage!
“Alright then—”
“Let the battle begin, everyone!”
