Under the effects of Airmid's Shared Burden skill, the more people linked together, the less damage each individual sustained.

Combined with her wide-area healing magic, their forces were virtually indestructible.

With their defenses and healing maximized, the Familias led by the Yahweh Familia fought with reckless abandon, their morale soaring.

They charged into the fray, fearless of injury or death.

This ferocious assault demoralized the dark faction.

Their blades couldn't penetrate the adventurers' defenses, and their suicide bombers, while creating dramatic explosions, achieved little.

Thanks to Shared Burden, only the bombers themselves perished.

Even the most fanatical zealots began to hesitate.

While they didn't fear death, believing it a glorious sacrifice for their gods, the futility of their attacks made them question their purpose.

If their deaths achieved nothing, what was the point?

"Perhaps we should avoid the Warfront Saint and target other areas? After all, the entire city is a battlefield. There's no shortage of places where we can offer our lives," one zealot suggested.

"Excellent idea!" The thought quickly spread among them.

While the battle raged in the central district, some zealots slipped away, seeking easier targets.

Seeing this, even the more pragmatic members of the dark faction began to waver. They, too, recognized the futility of their efforts.

Unless they could break through the enemy's defenses and kill Airmid, they couldn't achieve victory.

But that was a pipe dream.

How could they be certain Airmid wasn't also linked by her own skill? If she was, they would have to kill everyone.

And that brought them back to their initial problem: how to overcome such an impenetrable defense.

"Let's move to another location."

"Are we retreating? No, I won't run!"

"It's not a retreat, it's a strategic repositioning."

"That's still running."

"It's different! We're not giving up the fight. We're simply moving to a different battlefield."

"A different battlefield?"

"We're not going to die here for nothing! If I have to die, I'm taking a few of them with me!"

"If you're not coming, I'm leaving."

"Wait, I'll go with you." Their hushed conversation was overheard by their nearby companions, who quickly realized the wisdom of their plan.

Why die needlessly against an invincible foe when they could find easier targets elsewhere?

The dark faction began their retreat, their numbers dwindling rapidly.

"Damn it! They're running!" the adventurers shouted, their battle lust growing with each kill.

"Let's pursue them! We can't let them escape!" a Level 3 adventurer from the Ganesha Familia exclaimed.

"No!" Mika's voice rang out, stopping them in their tracks.

He returned to their formation, his body covered in blood—the blood of their enemies.

"Don't forget our objectives," he reminded them.

"Our priority is to reach Babel Tower and regroup with the Loki Familia. Our second objective is to rescue civilians. Eliminating the dark faction is our last priority. Therefore, we will continue our advance, saving as many people as possible and eliminating any obstacles along the way. Don't confuse your priorities."

"Yes!" they responded.

Mika's leadership, along with Airmid and Mellie's, had been confirmed during the previous battles.

They obeyed without question.

After swiftly dispatching the remaining dark faction members, Mika reorganized their forces into a new formation and continued their advance.

As they moved, they encountered another battle.

According to Mellie's aerial reconnaissance, fighting had erupted throughout Orario.

The entire route to the Loki Familia's position was now a battlefield.

However, after their previous encounter, Mika's forces were more experienced and stronger.

They charged into the fray, cutting through the enemy ranks like wolves among sheep.

With Mellie's amplified voice directing them from above, more and more adventurers joined their ranks, bolstering their strength.

Their advance became unstoppable, the dark faction's resistance crumbling before their might.

After several minutes of relentless fighting, they finally reached Babel Tower, spotting the Loki Familia's banner.

"Attack!"

"Hold the line! Hold the line!"

"Bang!"

The area around Babel Tower was swarming with dark faction members, relentlessly assaulting the Loki Familia's defenses.

But Finn, Orario's greatest strategist, and the Loki Familia, one of the city's strongest, held their ground, their formation impenetrable.

"Charge!" Seeing the situation, Mika led his forces forward.

"Attack!" At his command, the adventurers surged forward.

The dark faction members turned to face this new threat, but the adventurers, empowered by Airmid's magic and skills, were relentless.

They pushed through the enemy lines, creating an opening for the Loki Familia.

"Eliminate all enemies outside their defenses!"

"Yes!" The adventurers charged, scattering the dark faction forces.

Mika led the rescued civilians towards the safety of the Loki Familia's lines.

"Mika, you made it!" Finn appeared, accompanied by Loki, Yahweh, and Ayu.

"Yahweh-sama, Ayu, what are you doing here?"

"Didn't you tell us to stay alert? After the dark faction attacked, Ayu and I came here. She protected me along the way," Yahweh explained, joining Mika's side.

"Indeed, Ayu's strength is remarkable. She's easily Level 6," Finn commented, his gaze fixed on Mika.

"I didn't realize you had such a powerful…asset."

Mika smiled wryly.

He had anticipated this. "Don't even think about it, Finn. We used numerous rare materials to create her, many of which are unique, acquired during our research on Mystery."

"Therefore, even with our experience, we might not be able to create another one." He had prepared this explanation beforehand. Ayu's strength would inevitably be revealed; he needed a plausible excuse.

"I see." Finn shook his head. "Only a Familia with all its members possessing the Mystery development ability could achieve such a feat."

"Indeed," Mika confirmed.

After their return from the Balor expedition, he had revealed that he, Mellie, and Airmid all possessed Mystery.

This was now common knowledge in Orario.

It provided a convenient explanation for any unusual abilities or items they might possess.

Everything could be attributed to Mystery.

As for why other Familias with Mystery users hadn't achieved similar feats, that was easily explained.

Each Mystery user developed unique abilities based on their individual experiences and knowledge.

Mika could simply claim that Ayu was a collaborative creation of their three Mystery users.

After all, such collaboration was rare among other Familias.

Seeing that acquiring such a powerful asset was unlikely, Finn dismissed the thought.

"Let's discuss the current situation," he said, turning to Mika.

"Of course."

"Where are Riveria and Gareth?" Mika asked.

"They're out fighting and rescuing civilians."

"That's…problematic. I was counting on at least one of them for my plan. It seems I'll need to make some adjustments." He stroked his chin thoughtfully.

"Oh?" Finn's eyes lit up. "Could you share your plan?"

"Certainly." Mika explained their earlier experiences, emphasizing Airmid's magic and skills.

"We can form an elite team around Airmid to gather civilians and adventurers. However, given her importance, I'm concerned the enemy might target her. We'll need a Level 6 adventurer to protect her. And you're the only one here."

"I see." Finn smiled. "That is indeed crucial. With Airmid's abilities, we can minimize our casualties."

"And you?" He looked at Mika. "Aren't you the most suitable candidate to protect her?"

"No. I have another task," Mika replied firmly.

"What could be more important than this?"

"I made a promise to Alfia. I will be the one to end her life," Mika declared.

"What?!" Finn was stunned. He couldn't help but smile wryly. "So that's it…" His expression turned serious. "Are you certain you can do it?"

"Of course. I wouldn't have made such a promise otherwise. I'm not one for empty boasts."

Finn, after a moment of silence, chuckled. "In that case, I won't try to dissuade you. After all, defeating Alfia is our top priority."

"Without her and Zald, the dark faction is no match for us." He clapped Mika on the arm. "I'll leave this to you."
