Dual Cultivator with a cultivation system

Chapter 379: Ch-379: Scroll

"Ancestor, what is this about? I've never seen you this serious. And why didn't I know about this?" Jiang Hong asked curiously. Despite being the Sect Master, he wasn't offended that Feng Chang knew something he didn't—just confused.

"It's related to our Feng Family's ancestor," Feng Chang replied solemnly, and both Jiang Hong and Lei Ping's eyes widened in shock.

"Wait—something related to the founder?" Lei Ping exclaimed.

Except for a few people in the sect, most don't know that the founder of the sect was from the Feng Family. In short, he was the ancestor of Feng Chang and Feng Mei. That's the reason they can do whatever they want—and not even the Sect Master dares to offend them.

"Yes, let's go," Feng Chang said as she vanished from her place. Jiang Hong and Lei Ping exchanged a glance before following after her.

"Was that Elder Feng?" Luo Li asked as she saw Wang Ming end the call.

"Yes," Wang Ming replied plainly.

"Looks like she knows something about that parchment," Luo Li added.

"You're right. Maybe she can read it," Shi Yu said.

"Whether she can read it or not, we'll find out soon enough anyway," Bai Lingxi said.

"Girls, have you decided which technique scrolls to pick?" Wang Ming asked.

"No, we can come back later. Let's go visit her first—she seemed to be in a hurry," Bai Lingxi replied, to which the others nodded in agreement.

Wang Ming and the girls descended the stairs and saw Min Li, who looked pale as she read a scroll.

Tap, tap.

"Huff... huh," Min Li was sweating profusely while reading the scroll and was clearly reaching her limit on this floor. She looked up when she heard footsteps.

"You guys are back so soon? Did you find the techniques you liked?" Min Li asked, raising an eyebrow. She was surprised by how quickly they had returned—and judging by their appearance, they didn't seem tired at all and could have stayed much longer. Moreover, she was puzzled that none of them were holding any scrolls.

"No, we didn't pick any techniques. We'll come back later—something came up," Shi Yu replied, causing Min Li to raise her eyebrows again.

"Do you want to stay, or leave with us?" Luo Li asked.

"Hmm, I've reached my limit anyway, and I've found the technique I'm interested in," Min Li replied as she went to retrieve the scroll she had chosen.

"What about you ladies? Do you want to come with me, or head to the peak?" Wang Ming asked the others.

"We'll go with you. I need to satisfy my curiosity," Bai Lingxi said, and the other girls quickly nodded in agreement.

"What about you?" Bai Lingxi asked Feng Tian Wu.

"No, I'd better not. It might be something sensitive that the Sect Master wants to discuss," Feng Tian Wu replied. Even though she was curious, she felt it might not be appropriate to tag along. If she were Wang Ming's Dao Companion, maybe it would be different—but for now, she chose to hold back..

"What about you? Do you want to tag along?" Wang Ming asked Min Li, who had been quietly listening to them.

"Nope. Like she said, it must be something sensitive. I'll head back to the peak and start practicing the technique I picked," Min Li replied, though inwardly she was more curious about who Feng Tian Wu was.

"Alright, let's go," Wang Ming said as they descended the stairs and walked over to the receptionist.

"I'm taking this," Wang Ming said, handing over the parchment. The woman at the counter frowned.

'A parchment?' She was confused as to why he would waste his chance on a seemingly useless piece filled with strange symbols.

"Are you sure you want this?" she asked, watching Wang Ming nod without hesitation. It wasn't her place to question further, so she simply recorded Wang Ming's choice.

"What about the others?" she asked, glancing at Bai Lingxi, Luo Li, and Shi Yu after she finished recording Min Li and Wang Ming's selections.

"We'll come back later," Bai Lingxi said. The receptionist raised an eyebrow but nodded—many cultivators often delayed their selection until after some rest or deeper thought.

---

Back at the Sect Master's residence, Feng Chang, Jiang Hong, and Lei Ping were waiting for Wang Ming to arrive. Soon, their wait came to an end.

"You people have finally arrived," Feng Chang said in a calm voice as she looked at Wang Ming and the girls entering the room.

"It's been a while since we've seen each other," Wang Ming said to Feng Chang.

"Oh, by the way, congratulations on becoming a Core Disciple," Feng Chang said with a smile, to which Wang Ming simply shrugged his shoulders.

"Now, can I see the parchment you found?" Feng Chang asked as she looked at Wang Ming.

Even Jiang Hong and Lei Ping looked at Wang Ming with anticipation as he handed the parchment to Feng Chang.

"Ancestor, do you know what the symbols mean?" Lei Ping asked, scratching his head as he stared at the strange symbols, while Feng Chang remained silent.

"What about you, Disciple Wang Ming? Can you understand the symbols?" Jiang Hong asked curiously.

"Yes, it's some kind of technique called Shadow Veil, but it's incomplete. I need the other half," Wang Ming replied. As soon as he finished speaking, Feng Chang's head snapped in his direction.

"You can read this?" she asked in shock, to which Wang Ming nodded.

"Elder Feng, do you know where I can find the other half?" Wang Ming asked, his curiosity piqued, causing Feng Chang to frown.

"I do have the other half," Feng Chang said, producing another parchment. As soon as she brought it out, both parchments flew from their hands and floated in the air. Under everyone's gaze, they merged together and formed a single scroll.

"What's happening now?" Shi Yu asked as the scroll began to glow pitch black. A dark ray of light erupted, and the scroll flew across the room, fitting itself perfectly into a small circular hole in the wall. Moments later, a small wooden box emerged from beneath the floor.
