Dragon Ball Roshi

Chapter 59: Chapter 59: Coordinates of Several Planets

What can be done in just a few seconds? For an ordinary person, a few seconds might be enough to space out, not having time to overthink before those few seconds pass by unnoticed.

If a person takes three seconds to breathe, then a few seconds are just five or six breaths.

But for a super powerful expert with combat power in the tens of thousands, five or six breaths... would be more than enough for hundreds of exchanges.

After Taro activated his thirty-fold Mangekyō Sharingan, both his and North Kai's figures instantly disappeared from the surface of King Kai's planet.

On the fruit tree, the chimpanzee Bubbles, chewing on a banana, scratched his head, trying to figure out where the two had gone.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

The air around King Kai's planet vibrated again and again, producing loud, thunderous explosions. The shockwaves were so frequent and so dense that the ripples spread across the surrounding space. Bubbles, while peeling his banana, was shaken so much that his hand nearly poked his own nose.

The two never appeared again, nor did they stay in the air for even a fraction of a second.

In high-speed, super-speed pursuit, they intertwined, grappled, and fought... then pursued, intertwined, grappled, and fought again... In the first half-second, the sound of their fists clashing echoed above North Kai's house, but by the second half-second, they were already at the other side of the planet, sending huge chunks of grass flying off the ground.

The shockwaves caused by their high-speed friction created high temperatures, with heat waves rolling and spreading. Since their battle covered almost the entire planet, these waves tangled with each other, forming a chaotic and turbulent heat convection. The entire surrounding environment of King Kai's planet was filled with an oppressive, suffocating aura.

Bubbles clung to the fruit tree, wiped his nose from the banana peel, and finished the rest of the banana to calm his nerves...

Though it seemed like a long time, only a few seconds had passed. The air around King Kai's planet still rippled with heatwaves, visible to the naked eye. The rumbling explosions had long since stopped, and it felt as though the oppressive atmosphere that had once filled the air was just an illusion.

The two lay on the lawn.

North Kai lay on his back, his tiny round glasses nowhere to be seen. He squinted his small eyes, panting heavily, sweating profusely.

"My goodness... I, Lord Kai, actually fought with a human until I was completely exhausted... How embarrassing..."

Taro lay beside him, equally spent. After all, he'd already been beaten up by North Kai earlier, and now, after fully unleashing his power, he had nearly emptied his physical and mental reserves.

The Mangekyō Sharingan was like a high-power machine that devoured his mental energy the moment it was activated. In just those few seconds, his head felt like it was splitting, his vision went black, and dizziness hit him in waves.

 Crunch.

Taro quickly pulled out a Senzu Bean from his bag, weakly put it to his lips, bit it, and swallowed... whew, his energy and mental state fully recovered, and he stood up.

In those brief few seconds of combat, he had pushed everything to the limit—his Ki, willpower, martial arts, spirit, and physical strength... everything he had (if he had used the Susanoo armor, even those few seconds would have been too much). He had given it his all!

 It felt so good!

As for North Kai, who was still lying on the ground playing dead, though his overall strength was slightly stronger than Taro with his thirty-fold Mangekyō power, there were two factors at play:

First, when he had been beating Taro earlier, not only did Taro get tired from the beating, but North Kai, the one doing the hitting, also got exhausted.

Second... as mentioned several times before, North Kai was overweight.

He really didn't enjoy fighting—it was just too tiring!

His martial arts expertise, in reality, was more of a side hobby to his position as King Kai. Developing powerful techniques like the King Fist and Genki Dama was just a passion project; but fighting? No thanks! He'd rather eat, sleep, or take a leisurely drive around the planet!

"How are you feeling?" - Taro walked over and extended his hand to help North Kai up.

 North Kai, panting irritably, grumbled.

"What do you think? You're really something else, you know? Just a guy with 300 battle power, and yet you managed to fight me to a standstill! Are you out of your mind or something?"

Perhaps it was the bond they had developed through their recent martial arts exchanges, or maybe it was the emotional impact of Taro's earlier honesty after deceiving him, but North Kai now spoke to Taro as if they were friends.

Taro smiled and took out another Senzu Bean, offering it to North Kai.

"King Kai, you still haven't used your Kaioken, have you? If you do, I'm afraid I won't even be able to put up a fight."

North Kai took the Senzu Bean without hesitation, bit it, and swallowed. Instantly, his stamina and minor injuries were fully restored. He sighed.

"Truly a great thing!" When Taro mentioned the Kaioken, North Kai rolled his small eyes and said. "I don't even want to use that thing. It's so exhausting, I'd rather die from the pain before you even get a chance to hit me…"

Since developing the Kaioken, North Kai had hardly ever used it, nor did he have any intention of pushing it to higher multiples. That would be torture!

Not long ago, he had been considering finding a skilled martial artist from Earth to teach the King Fist to, just to see how far they could take it... then Taro showed up, but unfortunately, Taro's body wasn't suited to the Kaioken path.

Both were exhausted after their battle, so they went to North Kai's house and ate a big meal together. This would be Taro's last meal there.

"Are you going to Namek?" North Kai asked, stacking the bowls and plates and handing them to Bubbles, who was waiting nearby. He waved his hand to send the chimpanzee off, and then put on a new pair of round black sunglasses he had found somewhere.

Taro, satisfied from his meal, sighed.

"Yes, I have no choice. I have to go."

 North Kai nodded.

"I see. The potential in your body has been drained by the Elixir of Immortality. If you want to improve, it seems the only way is through those magical Dragon Balls. But Namek is in the Eastern Galaxy, which is outside my jurisdiction. I can only give you the coordinates. With your Instant Transmission ability, it should be no problem for you, right?"

 Taro smiled.

"What else would I use this ability for?" - He then added. "Lord Kai, please wait a moment. I'll go fetch... a few birds." With that, his figure disappeared in front of North Kai.

North Kai stared blankly for a moment, confused.

 "... A few birds?"

After a while, Taro still hadn't returned.

North Kai paced back and forth, then suddenly looked up. He saw Taro hovering in the sky not far away. North Kai wondered why Taro wasn't coming down. Flying over, he soon spotted the colorful birds perched on Taro's shoulder, seven in total.

 North Kai remarked.

"Beautiful birds!" He understood. "Oh, you're worried they won't handle the ten times gravity over there, huh?" e then asked. "Are you planning to take them with you?"

Taro gently stroked the smooth feathers of the birds on his shoulder.

"They've been with me since they were born. I can't bear to leave them behind." The birds, chirping excitedly, eagerly crowded around him, nuzzling his neck.

 North Kai shrugged.

B"It's up to you. But I'll warn you—getting all the Dragon Balls from the Namekians isn't going to be easy. With your current battle strength, you can probably beat most of them, but... there are special individuals among them, born specifically for combat. You should be careful!"

 Taro nodded.

"I understand!" Being familiar with the original story, he knew well about the Namekians like Nail, who were born as elite guards of the Grand Elder. He would certainly not be careless.

"Alright then!" North Kai turned away from Taro, facing away from him.

Taro understood and placed his hand on North Kai's back.

In an instant, their spiritual awareness became connected in some way. Taro closed his eyes, and a vast, pitch-black universe appeared in his "vision."

His "vision" moved rapidly, crossing over burning stars, passing through dreamlike galaxies, and finally... arriving at a beautiful, enormous green planet.

"Focus on the energy of this planet and remember it well!" North Kai's voice echoed in Taro's ears as he taught him methods to memorize the coordinates of the planet in special ways. Taro silently absorbed the information in his mind.

 "Got it?" North Kai asked.

"I've remembered it, but..." Taro didn't remove his hand from North Kai's back. Instead, he asked. "Can you show me some more planets, Lord Kai? Ones with high technological advancements, and also, are there any high-gravity planets where life can survive?"

"You old man!" North Kai quickly understood, his mind racing. "You plan to use the Dragon Balls on Namek to fix your body and then train on a higher-gravity planet, right? Or are you going to a high-tech planet to build a machine that simulates high gravity?"

 Taro chuckled.

"I can't hide anything from you."

North Kai snorted in displeasure, probably recalling how difficult it was for him when Taro had kept secrets from him at the beginning.
