Dragon Ball Human

Chapter 52: Chapter 52: A Private Conversation

More than an hour later.

Slope City, Police Department.

Jiora, a human from Earth with a look similar to Chapat, returned to the station in a police car with two colleagues. He was still pondering the gaze of the Earth boy he had met earlier.

The gaze that didn't match the boy's age at all.

And...

"Surely, he saw my transformation, right?" Jiora, dressed in his police uniform, sat behind his desk and absentmindedly handled paperwork. "And his eyes... they're unusual. They seem to harbor some unknown power... Could he be a psychic?"

In the universe, there was no shortage of beings born with special abilities.

Jiora's hometown, the planet Biretijon, was an advanced planet that had entered interstellar civilization. As an outstanding enforcer from such a planet, Jiora was a well-traveled elite.

Even the infamous Freeza Force in the galaxy had crossed paths with him.

Oh, by the way, this meant that Jiora had once taken out a few low-ranking soldiers of the Freeza Force.

As an enforcer responsible for maintaining order on planets within the jurisdiction of the Galactic Patrol, Jiora wasn't afraid of conflict with Freeza's forces. After all, the Galactic Patrol was behind him. Even the legendary cosmic emperor Freeza, no matter how powerful or intimidating he was, wouldn't personally come to fight over the death of a few insignificant minions, right?—and among those Freeza Force grunts Jiora had dealt with, there was one with psychic powers.

However, it was a pretty boring psychic power. Jiora had forgotten the exact details.

But Yamiru's golden eyes left Jiora puzzled… The boy's eyes seemed to see straight through Jiora's true form... Damn, if that's the case, how he wished he had eyes like that too... It would make investigations so much easier... While Jiora thought this, his inner turmoil was like a sine wave, but his face remained composed.

"Hey! Hey! Chapat!"

The loud voice of his boss finally snapped Jiora out of his reverie.

He looked up and saw his plump police chief, nearly shoving his large nose into his face.

Jiora raised a finger and pushed the nose away, asking, "What is it?"

"Someone specifically asked for you!" the chief grumbled about Chapat's attitude. "What's with you these days? Acting like that woman from next door... getting a bit too independent!"

When the chief mentioned the woman from the office next door, the other officers in the room sighed.

That woman was either naturally daft, naturally dark, or just plain brainless—a rookie cop named Akai Tomato, whose brain seemed so slow that she would show up to work in her pajamas and even change in front of the entire office—both male and female colleagues alike! When out on patrol, she even cluelessly tried to steal business from a traffic cop... Her behavior made everyone wonder how she passed the criminal investigation exam.

And these past few days, "Chapat" seemed to be showing similar "Akai-like" signs—once a sharp young man, he had now become a bit out of touch with reality.

For instance, when the chief once casually mentioned being thirsty and wanting a cup of tea, Chapat, who used to sit next to him, would have eagerly gone to the water dispenser to prepare the tea. But just yesterday afternoon, when the chief made the same hint, he saw "Chapat" looking confused and asking, "You're thirsty, so why don't you go get your own water? It's not like I need to drink..."

And now, if it were the old obedient Chapat, facing the annoyed expression of the plump police chief, he would have already—whether it was sincere or just an act—been trembling with fear. But this current Chapat, sitting there so calmly, looked nothing like the one from before.

Jiora, on the other hand, had vaguely sensed the chief's displeasure toward him. After some careful thought, he concluded:"It's not his problem."

Once he saved enough money and bought enough "gold," he'd just fly back home.

So, let things be.

"Who's looking for me?" Jiora asked in confusion. Was it Chapat's girlfriend? That would be a hassle. Jiora wasn't good at dealing with her.

"That boy we ran into an hour ago!" the chief grunted. "He came to the station, specifically asked to see you, and has been waiting for half an hour already."

The boy with the golden eyes?

Jiora was a little surprised. He hadn't gone looking for the boy yet, but the boy had come to find him instead.

"I'll go see," he said.

At the police station's reception room.

"Any news?" Yamiru asked the middle-aged man and his nephew, who had entered the city with him. They quickly sold the bear skin, bones, and meat, split the money, and then came to the station.

The middle-aged man and his nephew were looking for their missing older brother (father) and niece (sister), while Yamiru was accompanying them. Also, he wanted to meet the "Masked Superman" cop and, if possible, learn more about him.

"Still no news..." The middle-aged man looked distressed.

The young nephew's eyes were red, on the verge of tears, but he was holding it in.

Yamiru also felt helpless. He couldn't do anything to help, so he could only offer some comforting words.

"Are you looking for me?".

A young police officer walked out from the inner office of the station. Yamiru and the others looked up, and it was Chapat.

Right in front of "Chapat," Yamiru's ordinary deep brown eyes suddenly shifted into brilliant golden ones, locking onto the other's gaze.

He noticed immediately that after seeing Yamiru's eyes change, this seemingly ordinary human police officer's face shifted slightly.

"Focus... focus..."

Yamiru murmured to himself, while attempting to use his fiery eyes to send a mental message to "Chapat," or rather, Jiora: "I mean no harm, I just want to talk to you privately..." He thought for a moment and added, "Of course, I hope you mean no harm either..."

"Telepathy?"

Jiora was slightly surprised. He indeed received the message Yamiru had transmitted through his fiery eyes, and he silently nodded.

"Then... Yamiru..."

The middle-aged man hesitated beside them. He only noticed that Yamiru and the young officer seemed to exchange glances, but wasn't sure what was going on.

Yamiru turned to him. "Uncle, you two should head back. I hope we'll meet again sometime."

The middle-aged man could only bid farewell, "Well, goodbye. Take care of yourself on the way."

The young nephew waved, "Goodbye, big brother."

Yamiru smiled and waved back.

"Come with me," Jiora said after a moment of thought. He didn't take Yamiru inside the station but instead headed straight outside, taking the keys to the police car.

Yamiru obediently followed.

The other's combat strength was clearly on a completely different level. By taking the initiative to approach him, this could either become an opportunity for friendship or... potentially a risk. Either way, it was a chance.

Jiora drove the police car, taking Yamiru out of the city and stopping in a desolate area outside town.

"Thud," "Thud."

Both of them got out of the car and slammed the doors shut.

"Can you see me?" Jiora asked abruptly, without any preamble.

"Yes," Yamiru replied, trying to steady his breath to show his mental composure. He smiled and added, "I can see you."

Jiora nodded and placed his hands on his belt inside the police uniform, mentally commanding: Return to normal!

Whoosh. Without a sound, Jiora's human form dissolved and reformed before Yamiru's eyes, becoming a two-meter-tall, alien-like humanoid.

"Now, tell me. Why did you come to find me?" Jiora asked, looking down at the Earth boy.

Yamiru looked up at him, feeling the pressure was a bit overwhelming.

"Can you change back?" Yamiru asked helplessly. "It's kind of tiring on my neck looking up at you like this..."
