Douluo: Marrying a Wife to Become a God, Having Children for Blessings

Chapter 172: Chapter 172: Ma Hongjun vs. Dai Mubai

Martial God City.

Over the past thirty years, Martial God City had undergone significant development. Surrounding it, four major cities had been constructed: Divine Martial City, True Martial City, Martial Emperor City, and Martial Saint City.

Martial God City itself was primarily home to the disciples of Martial Sect. After all, the Zhou Clan occupied half of Martial God City, and Martial Sect nearly took up the other half, leaving no room for anyone else.

The surrounding four cities—Divine Martial City, True Martial City, Martial Emperor City, and Martial Saint City—became gathering places for soul masters and martial artists from the rest of Douluo Continent. Many family members of Martial Sect disciples also resided there, transforming these cities into some of the most famous metropolises on the continent.

As for Martial God City, it had long transcended worldly concerns, becoming a sacred city in its own right.

Shrek Academy was located near Martial Saint City but wasn't inside it.

Flender was a notorious penny-pincher.

He had no money.

"Headmaster, are we going to Heaven on Earth or Hundred Flowers Pavilion?"

Ma Hongjun rubbed his chubby hands together, his small eyes brimming with anticipation.

"You'll find out when we get there!" Flender replied vaguely, leading the group toward the outer city of Martial Saint City.

As the surroundings became increasingly dilapidated, Ma Hongjun's face turned sour, and he asked hesitantly, "Headmaster, aren't we going to the inner city?"

Ma Hongjun had only recently joined Shrek Academy, lured in by Flender's promise of taking him to a bathhouse.

"Little Fatty, be grateful for what you have!"

Oscar placed a hand on Ma Hongjun's shoulder and chuckled. "Do you think our headmaster has the money to visit Heaven on Earth or Hundred Flowers Pavilion?"

Oscar had been with Flender long enough to understand his miserly ways. Getting Flender to pay for a simple foot massage was already a miracle, let alone visiting a luxurious establishment.

"Fine. I'd settle for Blossom House," Ma Hongjun muttered dejectedly, his excitement waning as he realized he had been duped.

But what could he do? He had no money either.

As Flender continued leading the way, venturing into increasingly seedy areas, Ma Hongjun began to sense something was off.

"This is it!"

Flender pointed ahead to a garishly dressed woman waving enthusiastically at them from a dingy doorway.

"What?"

Ma Hongjun's small eyes widened in disbelief. Flender had not only failed to take them to Heaven on Earth or Hundred Flowers Pavilion—he hadn't even opted for the cheaper Blossom House. Instead, he brought them to the lowest-tier brothel in the area.

The surroundings were filthy, chaotic, and downright depressing. Worse still, the women here were all in their forties at best.

This place was a disaster.

With his identity as a soul master and his youth and strength, Ma Hongjun could have gone anywhere. Even freeloading would have been a better option!

"Headmaster, doesn't your conscience hurt?"

Ma Hongjun wailed, "You're supposed to be the headmaster of Shrek Academy, the so-called 'Academy of Monsters.' Have some dignity! You've shattered my innocent dreams..."

"Fine, we'll call it off then. I'd save some money anyway," Flender said with a shrug.

Ma Hongjun: "..."

Be human, I beg of you.

"Never mind. Something's better than nothing," Ma Hongjun relented, feeling his Evil Phoenix Martial Soul's inner fire surging uncontrollably. Desperation overruled his pride.

Half an hour later.

Flender, Ma Hongjun, and Oscar emerged, adjusting their belts.

"Headmaster, I finally understand why you didn't go somewhere fancy," Ma Hongjun said with a sigh.

Though his fire had been extinguished, he was far from satisfied.

"And why's that?"

Oscar perked up, curious. He knew Ma Hongjun's complaints weren't just about Flender's frugality.

"Because the headmaster's 'skills' only last three moves. Going somewhere expensive would've been a waste!"

With that, Ma Hongjun bolted.

"You little brat! I'll beat you to death!"

Flender roared, his embarrassment turning to fury. His greatest weakness had been exposed.

Bam!

In his mad dash, Ma Hongjun collided with someone head-on. He stumbled back and landed on his rear.

"@#$%! Are you blind?" a furious voice bellowed.

The insult sparked Ma Hongjun's temper, and he sprang to his feet, glaring at the offender.

The man was tall and broad-shouldered, his handsome face exuding a rugged charm. His long golden hair cascaded down his back, nearly reaching his waist.

But what caught Ma Hongjun's attention were the man's peculiar eyes—deep blue irises with twin pupils, radiating an icy, sinister light. The brief flicker of malevolence made Ma Hongjun shiver involuntarily.

"Seems like someone not to be trifled with…" Ma Hongjun thought nervously. Despite being the one who had bumped into the man, being cursed and insulted stung his pride.

"Kid, kneel and apologize, or I'll show you why flowers are red!" the man sneered, cracking his knuckles.

Dai Mubai wasn't one to hold back, especially when dealing with someone who looked like an aimless troublemaker. Judging by Ma Hongjun's disheveled appearance, it was clear he had just left a less-than-reputable establishment.

"Damn it!" Ma Hongjun roared, his temper flaring. Though Dai Mubai seemed formidable, he wasn't about to back down.

"Phoenix Possession!"

A burst of purple-red light erupted from Ma Hongjun's body. His short hair grew into a fiery mohawk, and while no wings appeared, the heat radiating from his body distorted the air around him. Two yellow soul rings rose from beneath him, and crimson feathers sprouted along his burly arms, which transformed into clawed hands.

Dai Mubai smirked disdainfully. "A fat phoenix? Looks more like a dirt chicken to me."

With that, he activated his own martial soul.

"White Tiger, Possession!"

A brilliant white light surged from Dai Mubai, causing his frame to expand as his muscles swelled, stretching his clothing taut. His golden hair turned predominantly white, with streaks of black accentuating the transformation.

On his forehead, three horizontal stripes and one vertical stripe formed the character "王" (King). His hands grew massive, covered in snowy fur, with sharp claws extending and retracting like daggers.

Beneath him, three soul rings emerged—two yellow and one purple. The oppressive aura of his soul power swept across the area like a tidal wave.

"A thousand-year soul ring!" Ma Hongjun's pupils contracted in shock.

Despite the disparity in their cultivation levels, Dai Mubai's insult stoked Ma Hongjun's rage. With his martial soul already active, retreating would only invite ridicule.

His first soul ring lit up as he raised his hands, unleashing a jet of purple-red flame toward Dai Mubai.

"First Soul Skill: White Tiger Barrier!"

A protective white shield enveloped Dai Mubai, neutralizing the fiery attack.

"Second Soul Skill: White Tiger Light Wave!"

Dai Mubai retaliated with a blast of radiant energy, forcing Ma Hongjun to activate his own second soul skill in response.

"Second Soul Skill: Phoenix Rebirth!"

The clash of powers sent shockwaves rippling through the air as the battle raged on…
