Chapter 216: After the Battle
It's time to communicate with the outside world. With my current strength, as long as I don't provoke those legendary figures, I can already ensure my own safety.
However, now is not the right time.
After the great war has ceased, the Dragon Nest Legion has entered a period of recuperation.
A large amount of Snake Shedding Grass was gathered from the Snake Bone Cave in the Wet Bone Forest, crafted into potions by Beastman Witch Doctors, and applied to injured beastmen. Under excellent medical care, in just a few days, most of the Dragon Nest Legion had regained their strength.
The revitalized Dragon Nest Legion began clearing the land a hundred miles away, once ravaged by undead zombies, conducting thorough searches, especially in dangerous areas. With the sweep of undead zombies and the Pyramid's erosion of the earth, most dangers had already dissipated.
Thus, while eliminating undead zombies, Austin ordered the Beastman Legion to explore those areas that hadn't been fully eroded and collect some magic resources from within.
Some hidden magic crystals and ores, deep within dangerous areas, were easily breached by the Dragon Nest Legion after most dangers had been dispersed, collected, and then transported back to the Dragon Nest Tribe's base by the buffalo team.
"Bone Forging Grass, Purple Crystal Flower, Gravel Gold Stone... Not bad, these are all important for the tribe."
In the plaza, as Dragon Nest Beastmen transported their spoils, Quik, the Fox-faced Man, walked through various magic materials, meticulously discerning them.
As the Dragon Nest Tribe expanded, numerous tribes were annexed and absorbed, and thus, some age-old secret recipes and techniques were collected, used in experiments, merged and incorporated into the Dragon Nest Tribe's medical system.
Over the years, the Dragon Nest Tribe developed a unique Otherworld medical system.
For instance, Bone Forging Grass could enhance the skeletal strength of beastmen, Purple Crystal Flower, when used with certain medications in a bath, could improve the constitution of beastmen, and Gravel Gold Stone, containing considerable magic power, loved by those heavily armored magic beasts, devoured in large quantities to enhance the defense of their scale armor.
These pieces of knowledge were the result of continuous experiments and expansions by the Dragon Nest Tribe's medical system, and the integration of occasionally discovered secret techniques from annexed tribes.
Many magic resources, whether for the cultivation of Fighting Qi or other physical training, had a very significant promoting effect.
The reason why those top large tribes could continuously produce endless strong figures was partly due to their possession of a large amount of magic resources.
"It's a pity, the quality of these items doesn't seem great, and quite a bit of magic power seems to have dissipated. But being able to obtain these is still not bad."
Perhaps due to the Pyramid extracting some elemental energy from the earth soil, causing the Forest Land to turn into wasteland, even those magic element-rich dangerous areas experienced a mass dissolution of vitality, leading to a significant drop in the quality of magic resources buried within.
Austin didn't care about these defective goods. Having just advanced to Gold Level, he hadn't yet metabolized a large amount of magic ore within his body, which would likely end up used on the Beastman Legion.
"Search a few more places, then prepare to withdraw. Cold winter will soon begin, don't let any accidents happen."
Quik said to the leading Beastman Officer beside him.
A hundred miles of land is indeed a vast area, and with the population of the Dragon Nest Legion, it's impossible to search every inch of that territory in less than two months. Therefore, there are quite a few undead zombies still wandering in the surrounding mountains and forests.
Furthermore, the distant sky had turned as if a massive ice block was suspended above, a sign that the Water Attribute Magic Power tide was sweeping over from afar. Although half a month later than usual, the cold winter was indeed about to arrive.
The white Death God crossing the border, along with the wandering undead zombies between the mountains and forests, required careful consideration and avoidance.
"Yes."
The Beastman Officer nodded and, as if recalling something, asked:
"Lord Quik, what about the temporary base we established in the northeast when we prepared to withdraw? And our companions there, should we summon them back?"
While Austin was in slumber, the Dragon Nest Tribe, following Austin's orders to prepare a retreat, established a temporary base about a hundred miles northeast. Subsequently, a large number of elderly and weak Dragon Nest Beastmen, along with substantial supplies, were transferred there.
That was the escape route Austin had prepared in case the counterattack failed.
Now, however, the "hard nail" Pyramid on the wasteland had been removed by Austin, and the remaining scattered undead zombies in the surrounding wasteland were no longer a concern, making arrangements for that temporary retreat base somewhat troublesome.
"Report this matter to Vini yourself, it's not within my responsibility."
Quik shook his head and began ordering the Witch Doctors to select and categorize the magic materials.
These civil matters were indeed outside his jurisdiction. Now the most important task before him was to categorize and store these magic materials properly, and plan how to apply them to the beastman soldiers to enhance the strength of the Dragon Nest Legion.
With these magic resources, even an ordinary Beastman Legion could achieve a considerable leap in strength. How to utilize and allocate them was Quik's responsibility.
Seeing Quik start leading a group of subordinate Witch Doctors to work, the Beastman Officer had no choice but to retire.
Actually, Austin already had a preliminary idea regarding that temporary retreat base.
He speculated that the destruction of the Pyramid might make the mastermind behind the undead calamity misjudge the strength on this side, possibly preventing the undead zombie tide from ravaging this area again.
Yet a speculation remains just that; the future might not necessarily develop in the desired direction, so it's wise to have a contingency plan.
To prevent unexpected occurrences, Austin had been observing the movements of the undead zombies in the fringe area recently, while the temporary retreat base in the northeast couldn't just be discarded.
If the mastermind behind the scenes became enraged by the Pyramid's destruction, the Dragon Nest Legion would at least have a place to withdraw to.
Additionally, the temporary base contained a large cache of materials. Although the buffalo had good transport capacity, shuttling back and forth like this was troublesome, and so Austin had decided to make the temporary retreat base the first branch base of the Dragon Nest Tribe. It would allow clearer control over the Dragon Nest Territory's scope and serve as an escape option for the future.
Of course, unless absolutely necessary, Austin naturally wouldn't easily abandon this main base foundation.
