Chapter 72: Why Do You Say Everything Out Loud?
However, Fu Ya's father quickly snapped out of it and rushed over, waving his hands dismissively.
"Impossible, impossible!"
"I admit I'm not in good health, but it couldn't be that serious!"
"This... um..."
At this, Fu Ya's father hesitated, unsure of how to address him.
Liu Ergou immediately understood.
"My surname is Liu. I'm Liu Ergou. Just call me Er Gou."
"Alright then, Er Gou. About this... we can't just take your word for it. Without any proof, I..."
Before Fu Ya's father could finish, Liu Ergou cut him off.
"I understand what you mean, and you're right. Some things do require proof."
"In that case, it's getting late and I have matters to attend to back home. I'll be leaving now. Perhaps we'll meet again if fate allows."
After saying this, Liu Ergou turned and left without the slightest hesitation, giving Fu Ya's father no chance to reply. He walked away quickly, vanishing without a trace in moments.
Fu Ya's father's expression darkened. He sank onto the sofa and said grimly, "Master Tang, I can't shake the feeling that this kid has no real skill. As for that so-called Hundred Herbs Sachet, it was just a stroke of dumb luck!"
However, Master Tang remained silent. He just stood there, staring in the direction Liu Ergou had disappeared, lost in thought.
Just then, Fu Ya burst into the room.
"Dad, have you seen Er Gou?" was the first thing she said. "I've been looking all over for him! The security guard told me he ran into you right after he went out!"
Hearing his daughter, Fu Ya's father replied without even looking up, "Who's Liu Ergou? I don't know him."
"And from now on, you will stay away from people like that. They're not good company. They're scammers and cheats who will stop at nothing!"
"Do you hear me?"
To her father's astonishment, Fu Ya grew frantic and stomped her foot in frustration.
"Dad, what are you talking about!"
"A scammer? He's the one who saved my life! You kept asking who saved me, didn't you? It was him!"
"And now you're accusing him of being a cheat!"
"You have to understand, I was having a stroke!"
At these words, both Fu Ya's father and Master Tang froze on the spot, their faces etched with pure shock and disbelief.
After a long moment, Fu Ya's father's voice trembled as he spoke. "Daughter, what did you just say? You said this kid saved your life? And you were having a stroke at the time?!"
Fu Ya nodded affirmatively.
Upon confirming this was true, Fu Ya's father collapsed back onto the sofa, his eyes filled with frustration and regret. Master Tang, for his part, let out a long sigh, his expression much the same.
While the two of them were stewing in their regret, Liu Ergou had already hailed a taxi back to Fengzhu Village.
He had wanted to have a proper talk with his sister-in-law, but he found he had returned too late; Xu Yulan was already asleep. Not wanting to disturb her, Liu Ergou washed up and went to bed himself.
「The night passed without incident.」
The next morning, Liu Ergou woke up and began practicing the Body Refinement Technique. After his cultivation session and a quick breakfast, he picked up a hoe and went with his sister-in-law to work in the fields.
The morning flew by. They had a simple lunch and a short rest before beginning their afternoon labor.
Liu Ergou had thought his day would pass uneventfully, but he was mistaken. That afternoon, the old bachelor showed up in the fields.
Seeing the man, Liu Ergou raised his eyebrows in surprise but didn't pay him much mind.
Let him show up if he wants. What does it have to do with me? As long as he doesn't bother me.
But things didn't go as he wished. As soon as the old bachelor appeared, he started harassing Xu Yulan with a torrent of filth.
"Well, well, look who it is! If it isn't Sister Yulan!"
"Working all by your lonesome, are you? Tsk tsk, Sister Yulan, I have to say, when you move like that, watching that big butt of yours jiggle back and forth... it's a real nice sight! Makes me want to give it a pinch!" the old bachelor finished with a wicked laugh.
Furious at being harassed like this, Xu Yulan immediately shot back, "You're an old man! How can you be so shameless? How can you say such disgusting things!"
To the old bachelor, her curses were like water off a duck's back; he was more than used to them.
"Hehehe, I can be far more shameless than this, Sister Yulan. Care to find out?"
As he spoke, the old bachelor tossed his hoe aside and advanced on Xu Yulan with a lecherous look in his eyes. "That prick Liu Shuisheng really doesn't know what he has. Such a fine wife, and he doesn't even bother to come home!" he continued as he walked.
"It's been so long. You must be desperate for a man, hehehe... Don't worry, your big brother here is going to take real good care of you today!"
Seeing this, Xu Yulan could no longer contain herself and screamed toward the distance.
"Help! Help!"
"Er Gou!"
Hearing her loud cries for help, the old bachelor only grew more excited, even uttering a classic villain's line.
"Go on, scream! No one's going to save you, even if you scream your throat raw! You're calling for Liu Ergou?"
"That little bastard is probably off having fun somewhere. Why would he care about you?"
As he spoke, the old bachelor actually started to unbuckle his belt, a triumphant smirk plastered on his face.
Meanwhile, Liu Ergou was resting and drinking water in the distance when he suddenly heard his sister-in-law's cries for help. At first, he thought he'd misheard. But when he stood up and looked in his sister-in-law's direction, he immediately saw the old bachelor leering as he undid his belt.
Seeing this, Liu Ergou was instantly overcome with rage. Without a second thought, he used all his strength and sprinted toward his sister-in-law.
In just a few seconds, he was upon them. He launched a flying kick straight at the old bachelor. Liu Ergou put a full half of his strength into the kick.
A scream tore through the air as the old bachelor was sent flying. He rolled a good four or five meters before skidding to a halt, his face and body already covered in scrapes.
Liu Ergou's kick had landed squarely on his face. It was already swelling up like a steamed bun, his eyes squeezed into thin slits.
