Chapter 131: Chapter 131: Dracula (1)

"Roar!" In the dimly lit makeshift camp, Hugh Jones, who had always been a gentleman, now glared at Josh and the others outside the cage with blood-red eyes and let out a beastly, bloodthirsty growl.

"Tsk, how pitiful..." Josh shook his head with a sigh as he looked at Hugh Jones inside the cage.

Just as Vito and the others behind him thought Josh was about to continue expressing his sympathy, they were surprised to hear him suddenly give an order to Ophelia: "Ophelia, go get a camera!"

Hearing this, General Fletcher looked puzzled, but Ophelia and Vito immediately understood his intentions.

Ophelia, in particular, stiffened as she remembered the humiliating days of the past and the photos Josh had taken of her. Despite her discomfort, she went to get the camera.

After Josh took a series of pictures of the beast-like Hugh Jones, even the slow-witted General Fletcher realized what Josh was doing. He almost wished he could bury his head in the ground in embarrassment.

Hugh Jones was his boss, after all.

But he dared not intervene.

Whether it was Josh's hierarchical rank or social status, Fletcher couldn't afford to offend him.

Besides, Josh was the one who had saved Hugh Jones.

What reason did Fletcher have to stop him?

So he could only pretend not to see it.

"All right, that's enough for now. Vito, I'll need you to make another trip to see Lady Ellen. Let her know that I'd like to discuss some details. Since daytime is inconvenient for her, let's arrange to meet at night by the river on the west side of town," Josh said as he handed the camera back to Ophelia.

"Understood, boss!" Vito nodded and left the tent without asking any questions, preparing to gather his team and meet Lady Ellen again.

Feeling uncomfortable, General Fletcher also left the tent, pretending to do some work.

"Boss, do you have a plan to deal with this Count Nosferatu?" Ophelia couldn't resist asking after Vito left. Earlier, when discussing Nosferatu, Josh had looked worried because the old vampire seemed like a formidable enemy. How had he come up with a solution so quickly?

"Deal with Nosferatu? Why would I want to do that?" Josh asked, looking surprised.

His counter question stunned Ophelia.

"You don't want to deal with Nosferatu? Then why... Are you seriously after Lady Ellen?" Ophelia quickly put things together. "But..."

"There is no 'but'! Lady Ellen is going to be 'accidentally' killed by an Allied strategic bomber. What does that have to do with us? If Nosferatu wants revenge, he can go after Eisenhower, Hugh Jones, or even the Council... Why should I be involved?" Josh replied with a slight smile.

Truth be told, Lady Ellen's plan was quite clever.

If Josh had been an ordinary person or just a typical member of Hydra, he might have been forced to confront Nosferatu in this situation.

But Josh was not an ordinary person.

Hydra had always been a tool to him. Rescuing Hugh Jones was already going above and beyond—expecting him to risk his life for the Council was laughable.

Besides, saving Hugh Jones had already given him a nice bonus in the form of a vampire bloodline. Josh intended to charge him a hefty fee for his trouble.

Roxxon's Boeing stock, for example, would be a fine.

What if Hugh refused?

Well, Josh wouldn't hesitate to play dirty.

Night came quickly.

Compared to the daytime, the west side of the town now had an extra tent.

A dozen Tesla troopers stood alert around it.

Suddenly, the sound of wings flapping broke through the night sky. A half-human, half-bat creature flew over the tent and landed about ten meters in front of it, under the watchful eyes of the Tesla troopers. The creature then transformed into a stunning young woman.

"I am Ellen Nosferatu, here at the invitation of Mr. kahn," her soft yet clear voice reached everyone's ears.

"Please come in, Your Ladyship. The boss is waiting for you," Ophelia said, lifting the tent cover and nodding to Lady Ellen, inviting her inside.

Lady Ellen nodded without suspicion. Thanks to her vampiric senses, she could sense the presence of a human with strong vitality inside the tent, probably a male. She entered confidently.

However, the moment she entered, she sensed that something was wrong.

There was indeed a person inside the tent, but there was a metal barrier between her and that person.

Before she could react, a metallic clang echoed behind her as another metal gate fell, sealing her in.

The sound of crackling electricity soon filled the air around the tent. Only then did Lady Ellen realize that the interior of the tent was essentially a massive metal cage.

She tried to escape immediately, but as soon as she touched the metal bars, a powerful current coursed through her body, forcing a painful scream from her lips.

At that moment, the outer tent fabric was pulled back to reveal a group of Hydra operatives armed with rifles.

They fired at Lady Ellen, but instead of bullets, their weapons fired powerful tranquilizer darts—special products courtesy of Yuri. A single dart could knock out a Tyrannosaurus for an entire day.

Whether it would work on a supernatural being like a vampire was yet to be tested. Nevertheless, Lady Ellen was hit with more than a dozen darts.

As the tranquilizer took effect, the vampire noblewoman quickly collapsed to the ground, limp and powerless.

So much for the supposed toughness of vampires.

"Vito, secure her with restraints. Be careful!" Josh's voice came from a short distance as he approached the cage to observe the subdued Lady Ellen.

At his command, the dinosaur-like Vito stepped out of the shadows, carrying a set of restraints made of super-strong alloys.

Two Tesla troopers carefully opened a small section of the cage, allowing Vito to step inside.

Throughout the process, Lady Ellen remained unconscious, proving the tranquilizer's effectiveness against vampires.

Vito quickly used the restraints to bind her so tightly that she could not move a finger.

He then stuffed her into a smaller metal box and loaded it onto a vehicle.

The group left the area immediately.
