Chapter 68: : Human Aphrodisiac Job In AnotherWorld

Xuan placidly began gaining the will to open his eyes. At first, the sight looked very blurry; he could barely see the image of the person in front of him.

However, after a few seconds, he shut his eyes tight and opened them immediately.

"You're awake," the lady dressed in a maid's outfit said, standing beside him. She had long red hair that fell down to her thick butt, which seemed to split.

Her black, revealing dress was tight on her body and appeared to be a second skin.

"Awake?" Xuan asked himself, as if whispering. "Didn't I just die?"

"Oh my lord, you must be confused. Pardon my mistake for not informing you."

The setting of the place did fit the name she called him though—a big, luxurious, king-sized room, almost like he was an emperor.

"Lord?" Xuan wondered. He hadn't become the harem emperor yet, so it was confusing someone called him that. "Where is this place?" he asked, sitting up.

This wasn't the afterworld or underworld; this was the All Mother's holy society. Those here were either holy enough to be accepted or, in Xuan's case, a bargain.

Of course, he wasn't a lord before he died. However, reaching mid-divine combustion stage or above gave him a place that wouldn't classify him as a commoner.

Those who passed the required stage or reached a certain social status before they died were given this privilege, along with a personal maiden.

"This place is real?" Xuan was surprised.

"And I am your assigned maid, Li Lan. Please have your tea, my lord."

Xuan kept quiet, looking at the hot tea and then back at Li Lan. Then a knock was heard on the door. Soon after, two figures that Xuan recognized walked in.

"Fang Yuan? Han Bai?" Xuan said, standing up, almost knocking the tea over before Li Lan moved it aside.

When the three of them stood quietly, Xuan suddenly remembered how he ruthlessly dealt with Fang Yuan. It made him stop halfway before he reached them.

And since Han Bai was here too, it meant that graze on his cheek must have spread the venom to his heart and killed him as well.

Han Bai could sense the pressure growing in the room and settled it with a fake laugh. "Haha, Xuan. What took you so long to wake up? You've been sleeping for three days now."

"Guys, I—"

"It's okay, Xuan. As long as your little girlfriend didn't leave us behind, I think we're settled," Fang Yuan said.

He really didn't blame Xuan, and now wasn't the time to bring up that issue. Maybe if they were able to go back home, he'd ask for a rematch where he wouldn't hold back.

But right now? They had more than enough pressing matters to worry about.

"Girlfriend?"

Right after he asked that, Xi Ning walked through the door. Although Xuan didn't really love her as much as Zhao Lan, Xue Ming, or Li Feng, seeing her gave him joy.

"Xi Ning," he said softly. She ran and hugged him while restraining herself from crying.

"Xuan, you're in—"

"I know. Holy society. How do I get back? I still haven't found Li Feng, and Zhao Lan must be worried."

"What? Are those the only people you care about? Hmph, jerk," Xi Ning pouted, looking away.

"I'm sorry it came out sounding like that, it's—"

"Shssh! I know." Xi Ning placed her finger on his lips.

"Hey, how about we focus on the important things right now? 'Cause I really need to get out of here before my time runs out."

While in here, they were given different jobs:

The knight—responsible for safeguarding the city. An alchemist—a job given to those capable of creating different cultivation medicines.

Each job came with a different quest overseen by the holy society. A knight's quest could be saving a person or guarding part of the city.

An alchemist's quest could ask for the production of a particular kind of dual medicine. Ingredients would be listed out for you to go and find them.

The last job, and the rarest, All Mother doesn't usually assign to any random person. But Xuan's past life was quite the fantasy.

He was given the job of an aphrodisiac—a quest to cultivate with moms. Of course, this would be done without the husband finding out.

For example, if a knight had gone out, a quest could be given to cultivate with the knight's wife. Not quite holy for a holy society.

Knights kept everyone safe. Alchemists were more like doctors. Aphrodisiacs were the ones who made sure the women were equal in terms of cultivation.

So every job here played a role in society. Except aphrodisiacs shouldn't go around saying they're human aphrodisiacs—because they would die.

They were disliked in this world. I mean, why wouldn't anyone hate Xuan if he did nothing but go out and cultivate with their wife and daughter behind their back?

Which was why the job was rare. Apart from that, alchemist and knight jobs were allowed to have wives, of course—but no sexual intercourse whatsoever.

Xuan began laughing. "And you guys are both alchemists? Hahaha."

The explanation Xi Ning gave was pretty much leaning in favor of Xuan. To top it all, if he got stronger here, it would remain the same if he managed to return home.

"You know, for someone who died, you seem very comfortable with that," Xi Ning said.

"Probably because he's an aphrodisiac." Han Bai was right, and they all knew it. "Fang Yuan, tell him the best part."

"Best part?" Xuan wondered.

The reason aphrodisiacs were so rare wasn't just because of All Mother's decision to select them. Yes, she did select, but most of them ended up dying.

They got summoned once in a while to another world to complete trials—game-like trials. All aphrodisiacs. Many ended up dead, which was the second reason they were fewer.

What do you know? That rule existed to keep this place clean of aphrodisiac job users and make this place holy. It's called balance.

While alchemists were only to produce dual medicines, in the last stages of their quest it came randomly.

"So who's laughing now?" Fang Yuan teased.

"Hahaha." Han Bai sat on the bed holding his head. "At least we don't risk our lives."

"Once you die here, you die for good," Fang Yuan added.

Xi Ning saw how frustrating the whole thing was for Xuan. She sat beside him, resting her head on his shoulder. "Hey, the aphrodisiac trials are once in a while. Your main job is dual cultivation."

"I hope so," Xuan sighed. "Hey, do you know if—" By the time he knew it, Xi Ning was no longer in the room. The only person standing at his right was now Li Lan.

"Her time is up. Something about the Great Mother—"

"All Mother," Li Lan corrected Han Bai.

"Thank you, chick. Something about the All Mother letting her visit once a week. I guess lucky for her, you woke up today."

Fang Yuan brought out a little scroll, now walking toward Xuan. "Soo... how about you start making up for my death you caused? We've been asked to produce meridian dual medicine. You learned alchemy, right?"
