Regardless of Nick Fury's state, Ivan continued to explain, "These kinds of monsters can travel through the universe. When they find a suitable planet, they land and devour all life, absorbing its energy."
He paused, sighed, and continued, "When a planet completely dies, they move on to the next one. This continues until they grow to a certain level and reproduce. Eventually, the powerful races in the universe unite to destroy these monsters, causing their extinction."
"These seven monsters came to Earth countless years ago and are known as the Seven Gods of Chaos. The gods united to defeat them, but due to their strong regenerative abilities, they couldn't be killed completely, so they were banished to the dark dimension."
"What do you mean by telling me this? Are these seven monsters coming again?" Nick Fury asked nervously.
"Don't worry. A few years ago, the dark wizard Rasputin tried to release the Chaos Monsters during a lunar eclipse, but he was stopped."
Nick Fury sighed in relief, but Ivan's following words made him tense again.
"At that time, the door to the dark dimension was opened. I was there and recorded the coordinates. I entered the dark dimension and signed a contract with them. Through this contract, they can be summoned."
"What! You are crazy. Do you know what you are doing? These monsters can destroy the world. Do you want Earth to be devoured by them?"
"Of course not. Although I left Earth long ago and built a foundation in the universe, the Earth is still my home. I signed an ancient contract with them, witnessed by Earth's consciousness. They must obey the summoner's orders and can be forced back to the dark dimension if needed."
Ivan tapped his finger, and a small box phantom appeared. When it opened, an eyeball flew out.
"This is my gift to you. The contract is sealed in this Eye of Righteousness. With it, you can summon the Chaos Monsters. This is a weapon that can destroy the world."
"You made such a dangerous thing and sent it out so casually. The best way is to destroy it immediately."
"No, it cannot be destroyed. While it is a weapon that can destroy the world, it can also be used to save it if used wisely. The Earth faces powerful enemies that could destroy it, so I am giving this to you as a defense. Additionally, there are two other things I will give you in the future. Don't ask what they are; I hope you use them wisely."
Since Ivan opened his mind in the spiritual space, Nick Fury sensed that Ivan was telling the truth. This made him reconsider his approach. What Ivan said about Earth's future concerned him deeply.
"What is the future disaster you mentioned? Can't you tell us so we can prepare?"
"No, some things are better left unsaid to avoid making them worse. I can only give you hints; the rest depends on your efforts."
After hearing this, Nick Fury didn't ask any more questions and changed the subject. "Is the contract safe? It feels risky, and destroying it seems safer."
"The contract will eventually fall into your hands. You can decide whether to destroy or keep it, but don't regret your choice."
"This..." Fury hesitated. As Ivan said, even a power that can destroy the world can save it if used properly. If Earth faces a future crisis, this might be its hope.
"Okay, I choose to keep it. Can you tell me the precautions for using it? At least let me be prepared to avoid accidents."
"If a situation needs attention, it is to be careful not to be tempted by Chaos monsters. They may promise you wealth, beauty, power, and so on. Just ignore them. I believe you, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., have enough willpower to resist."
"The prosthetic eye has been imbued with magic, which will help you resist spiritual attacks. I can help you install the prosthetic eye and restore the vision in your damaged eye. There will be no need for an eye patch, making it more convenient."
Nick Fury couldn't help but reach out and touch his eye patch.
"This is a good idea, but there are some issues. Although my eye is blind, it has other uses and can't be easily replaced."
"Oh, you use the eye patch for a security measure? No problem. I can help you keep the eye patch and replace your blind eye with the prosthetic one without causing disruption."
"If that's the case, I agree. Let's discuss and set a time for you to help me with the procedure."
"It's not that complicated. I'm an expert in this field. It only takes a few minutes. Let's witness a miracle right now!"
Ivan gently pushed Nick Fury's shoulder. Nick Fury felt himself quickly retreat, his body shaking as he returned to the real world. Before he could speak, he saw Ivan snap his fingers. He noticed the surroundings were unnaturally quiet.
Upon closer inspection, Tony stood motionless, eyes wide, mouth open as if about to speak. An agent disguised as a guest held a cup of coffee frozen mid-air. Another agent, pretending to look at the scenery outside, had a fixed smile. Everything around him was frozen.
"Don't worry; I used a little magic to freeze the bodies and minds of everyone around us except the two of us. The magic will lift once we finish. There's not much time, so let's start right away."
Ivan didn't wait for Nick Fury to refuse and touched his forehead. Nick Fury felt he could no longer move, but he remained conscious.
Ivan removed Fury's eye patch and, with surprising gentleness, replaced his damaged eye with the prosthetic one. Despite the seemingly crude method, Nick Fury felt no pain.
Next, Ivan worked on the artificial eye, writing and drawing symbols. After a few minutes, he inserted the prosthetic eye into Nick's empty socket and applied a few drops of liquid—this unlocked Nick Fury's ability to move.
"I can see! These magical items are incredible."
After many years, he finally regained his sight. Although he hadn't been overly concerned about losing an eye, he welcomed the restoration. Now, his new eye also held the power to destroy the world.
Nick Fury, who had regained his mobility, looked around. Tony and the others were still immobilized. Fury put on his blindfold first, then said, "When I came to see you, people were under surveillance. Given the situation here, I'm afraid what happened just now has been recorded by cameras. After I return, I need to ask them to delete the footage, but I can't guarantee whether Hydra agents are among them. Can your magic make them forget what happened today?"
"No need to worry," Ivan replied.
"The people in charge of monitoring are in a disguised fast food truck 100 meters away. One is from Hydra and is the only Hydra agent among the people you brought. I froze him, too. Additionally, I hacked their equipment, so it stopped working. When they wake up, everything will be restored without any abnormality. Even nearby cameras that might have recorded this have been manipulated by me. Don't worry."
Nick Fury felt a twinge of frustration. Despite communicating with Ivan in the consciousness space and reaching some agreements, Ivan's overwhelming competence made Fury feel somewhat inadequate.
Ivan returned to his chair and sat down, while Nick Fury returned to his position from when Tony and the others were immobilized. Ivan snapped his fingers again, and everyone moved. One agent continued siping his coffee, and another resumed looking at the scenery outside. Only Tony seemed slightly disoriented but couldn't pinpoint why.
"Mr. Shaw, don't be angry. Your kindness is appreciated, but we can't accept the gift," Tony said, unaware that Ivan and Nick Fury had already reached an agreement. He was trying to mediate and avoid further conflict.
Tony felt particularly unlucky today. He didn't want to conflict with either S.H.I.E.L.D. or Ivan and tried his best to prevent a standoff. Despite being Tony Stark, known for his willfulness and pride, he felt a rare frustration.
Nick Fury was genuinely relieved to see Tony trying to mediate, realizing that Howard's son had matured, was able to suppress his discomfort and speak sensibly, and knew how to compromise.
"Okay, Mr. Shaw, I'll take your gift. Thank you very much! Farewell."
Nick Fury deliberately acted nonchalant, grabbing the empty box from the table and walking out.
Tony breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that Nick Fury had chosen to de-escalate the situation. He quickly followed Nick Fury out. However, once outside, Tony saw Nick Fury toss the box into a trash can. Tony was startled and quickly turned back, relieved to see Ivan still drinking coffee inside the restaurant and not chasing after them.
