"Can magic do that? How is it possible to make others ignore your existence?" Both Nick Fury and Tony widened their eyes in disbelief.
"Don't be too surprised. There are many things in this world that are hard to understand. Just because you don't know something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. As the director of S.H.I.E.L.D, you must know about Voldemort from the British wizarding world."
"He brought disaster to the British magical community. During his darkest period, no one dared to say his name, and he was called "You-Know-Who" instead because he cursed his name. If anyone speaks his name, he would sense it."
"However, Voldemort wasn't very strong, so his sensing range was limited to Earth. If he left Earth, he couldn't sense it. During the Kryptonian invasion some time ago, didn't General Zod also avoid naming the murderer who destroyed their home planet? It's the same idea."
"But Darkseid, the overlord of Apokolips, is much stronger than Voldemort. His sensing range covers the entire universe. My curse is similar; it reduces my sense of existence."
Nick Fury didn't even know how to respond. The whole Earth knew about the Kryptonian invasion because General Zod talked with everyone. However, only a few people involved in the negotiations knew about Darkseid. Those details were top secret, but Ivan discussed them as common knowledge. Secrecy seemed like a joke to Ivan.
"Since you used to be a Hydra scientist, you must know about the hidden Hydra forces. Can you tell me about them?"
"Don't even think about it. Hydra's roots are more complex than you think. Although I fell out with them long ago, I don't know all the details. But from what I understand, their influence is global and widespread. If I reveal their secrets, I will offend many people and face suppression from politics to economics. Although I can handle it, I would only cause trouble for myself."
"What do you want? If it's not too tricky, I can agree to it." Nick Fury was deliberately vague.
"The Tesseract, the Obelisk, and either of these items can be exchanged for my Hydra information. Are you willing to hand them over?"
"Impossible!" Nick Fury refused without hesitation.
The Tesseract was part of their subsequent research plan. Because of Thor's arrival, Nick Fury knew there were more powerful civilizations in the universe, and Earth needed a powerful weapon. Although the Obelisk's purpose needs to be clarified, it is dangerous based on current information. It cannot be handed over to Ivan.
"Let's change the conditions. These two items are too dangerous, and I can't hand them over."
"Forget it. Apart from these two items, there's little in S.H.I.E.L.D. that interests me. Ivan shrugged, looking helpless."
Tony is in a hurry now. He originally wanted to wait for Nick Fury to get information about Hydra from Ivan so he could cooperate with S.H.I.E.L.D. to deal with them. But seeing Nick Fury not pushing hard, he knew he had to act alone.
"What else do you want? Tell me, and I'll find a way to get it for you, or I can promise you a few more conditions as long as you tell me the information about Hydra."
"Sorry! Even ten conditions can't change my mind. Hydra's hidden power is stronger than you imagine. However, if you want the information, you could do it yourself. Can't you unlock the restrictions on Jarvis and let it investigate? Hydra would become more visible."
Nick Fury's face changed drastically, and he immediately warned, "Tony, don't do anything reckless. This is illegal. If exposed, you'll become a public enemy. Think about Pepper, if not yourself."
Finally, Tony didn't lose himself to anger. Although Ivan's proposal was tempting, he resisted.
Ivan wasn't disappointed by Tony's decision but rather happy. Only those who uphold their principles can go further.
"Well, seeing you in such a bind, I'll give you a hint. There are Hydra agents in S.H.I.E.L.D. Everything has two sides, and Ms. Carter knew this best. She should have left you some clues."
Being stingy, Ivan grieved against Alexander Pierce for attacking his department's power. Although Ivan quickly taught him a lesson, it still caused trouble. Ivan always held onto this grudge and saw this as an opportunity for retaliation. When Nick Fury knew there was a problem within S.H.I.E.L.D., he wouldn't rest easy.
Nick Fury listened to Ivan, feeling a wave of emotions. His training as a secret agent helped him stay calm, but he had some suspicions before, so he managed not to react outwardly.
"It seems the situation is more serious than I imagined," Nick said coldly.
"Mr. Shaw, although I appreciate the information, you were once a member of Hydra and made many mistakes. I think you should cooperate with us to atone for your sins. I hope you don't leave our sight."
"Are you planning to cross the river and demolish the bridge? Sorry, I don't have time to waste. If you think you can catch me, give it a try." Ivan understood Nick Fury's intentions but stood firm.
"Wait a moment!" Tony interrupted. "Nick, we need a long-term perspective on this matter. It's not good for anyone to fall out. Let's try to understand each other."
Tony gave Nick Fury a meaningful look. He knew Ivan's magic was far more powerful than they could handle, so there was no point in tormenting him.
Although Nick Fury doesn't understand what Tony was hinting, he trusted him.
Fury said, "Well, for Tony's sake, I'll ignore your affairs for now. But you must leave contact information so I can reach you if necessary."
"I don't think we should keep in touch directly, but you can visit my son Kyle if needed. I'll meet you if I have time."
Nick Fury almost exploded with anger. How could he say that? Did he think of me as just anyone? I am the dignified director of S.H.I.E.L.D.! If you'd like to see me, you must know if you have time. Who do you think you are?
"Well, that's it. We'll talk another time." Tony quickly agreed, pulling Nick Fury towards the door, feeling exhausted. He is Iron Man, Tony Stark; he has never been so low-key in his life, and today, he lost all his face to avoid conflicts.
"Wait!" Ivan suddenly spoke, stopping Iron Man and Nick Fury. He pointed to a small box on the table. "Don't forget to get down to business."
Seeing the small box on the table, Nick Fury remembered Ivan's initial mention of a gift. "What is this? Why give it to me?"
A strange smile appeared on Ivan's face as he stared at Nick Fury. His eyes widened, and powerful mental energy spread out. Nick Fury felt dizzy, and the surrounding scenery changed drastically. He found himself in a strange space with white walls, no doors or windows, and a completely enclosed space.
"Where is this place? What's your purpose in bringing me here?" Even with Nick Fury's temperament, suddenly coming to this unfamiliar place made him feel flustered.
"Don't worry; this is my mental space or consciousness space. An hour here is only one second outside, so we have enough time. What I will say next is too important, and I don't want others to know about it."
"What do you want to say?"
"If I explain it with words, it might not be clear, so I'll show you directly."
Ivan snapped his fingers, and the surroundings changed again, forming a dark space.
Nick Fury looked around and soon found seven behemoths frozen in ice in this dark space. They looked like grotesque bugs covered with giant tentacles, each more than a thousand meters long, appearing hideous and terrifying.
"What exactly is this?" Nick Fury's voice trembled, and the seasoned agent felt a sense of fear in his heart.
Although Ivan and Nick Fury spoke, their conversation was a mental exchange. Ivan allowed Nick Fury to sense the authenticity of what he said. This mental connection terrified Nick Fury, as it showed that the seven monsters he saw were indeed real.
"The legendary Seven Gods of Chaos, Ogdu Gerhard, they are monsters with strong regenerative abilities. Related to Knull, the God of the Symbiotes, and other legendary monsters."
This shattered his worldview. He was so stunned that he was speechless for a while.
