Chapter 171: Last Stand.

If he sets a mind on fire, the only way for the mind fire to go out is for him to put out the fire or for the mind fire to run out of a mind to burn. None of those have happened, so he is very confused.

He can see their emotions, which are a byproduct of their mind. It meant that this was not a robot. This was a hale and hearty person who appears to have made preparations to deal with his ability.

His sneer of ridicule changed to a frown, and he began entertaining the thought of a retreat. The man was fast, but Thorin was faster. He could still run and escape if he did so now.

He stepped back to do just so. But then he felt his stamina leave his body in a large burst. His body sagged as if he had just exerted himself physically. He became so weak that he stumbled.

His frown changed to shock. He said, "I know this ability. Are you the Count? But that's impossible. You are supposed to be dead."

The man didn't reply with words. He replied by increasing the drain on Thorin's life force. This confirmed Thorin's suspicions.

His eyes widened as he put two and two together.

He thought to himself in disbelief, "I can't believe it. That old geezer actually pulled a fast one on me. He pretended to be dead so I would come out of my hiding. What a scheme. I am honestly impressed."

He can't believe that the Count had actually faked his death to trap him. The man has also masked his emotional signature to fool him. And he fell into the trap headfirst.

It made him feel regret for being cocky and overconfident.

"I thought I was the fisherman, but it turned out that there was another hunter better than me stalking me."

But then he smiled and thought to himself, "I'm going to die here, right?"

He saw the emotions coming off of the man. It showed him his fate. All he saw was a dedication to fight to the death. It was all the answer he needed to know that whatever was going to happen, only one of them would come out of this alive.

There would be no opportunity for prison for him. Not that he wants to be imprisoned.

He chuckled to himself. "It seems I am going to die. This is not a bad way to die. I'll be dying to a fellow warrior. But if I am going to die, I'll only go on my own terms."

Kelvin was gaining on Thorin quickly. The distance between them was five meters. He had picked this distance to ensure that Thorin would not be spoked easily.

Now Thorin had indeed entered the room, and the door had been closed behind him. As for the five meters distance between them, it is something he can cover in less than a second.

However, a lot can happen in half a second. In fact, a lot had already happened in the shorter period of time since he started running.

As he was rushing forward to grab Thorin, he used his new ability, Life Steal, on him. He didn't use his Mind Domination Network because not only will it not work, he needed it to protect his mind.

He suspected that he was severely outclassed in the mind attribute, which is why he didn't attack Thorin's mind. The mental attacks slamming on his mind showed him just how weak his mind is compared to his enemy's.

He focused his Mind Domination Ability to create shields for his mind. He stacked all 17 of them on top of each other for maximum protection. But Thorin's attack was so powerful, he might as well not have any mental shields.

His attacks popped the shields without any resistance. They would have done the same for his mind too. The saving grace was that the shield would grant him enough time to close the distance and grab Thorin.

What he didn't expect was that each attack would only destroy one shield despite its power. It was like a spark. It wasn't a continuous stream of fire or attack.

It exploded and caused a shield to combust spontaneously. But when the shield got destroyed, the fire also went out with it.

This way, the fire didn't work its way down his mental shields. Instead, a new attack was needed to take out the next shield. This was a boon as it granted him more time to deal with Thorin, but it doesn't change his plan.

He has his mind set on grabbing Thorin, wrestling him to the ground, and fighting him while waiting for the poison and explosion he had prepared to go off.

He was prepared to duel Thorin in a poisonous furnace if need be. That's why he picked this battlefield and why he began equipping his Juggernaut's Armament and Myriad Physique ability. Discover hidden tales at My Virtual Library Empire

His figure turned into transparent crystal. Then red tattoos appeared over his reflective skin. Next, he was encased in red armor. This all happened in the short time it took for him to cover four meters.

He had prepared to turn this whole room into a lake of fire, and he was prepared to fight in it. But just as he was about to reach Thorin, his eyes began to shine.

The light was silver. It shone through Thorin's eyes like a torch. Thorin began to exude some kind of mental pressure that pushed against his mind. Then Thorin's eyes dimmed. His body sagged, and he fell to the ground.

The mental pressure disappeared immediately. Kelvin felt his mind become relieved, only for a wave of fire to smash into his mental shields.

The wave of fire destroyed his mental shields one by one. It was not like the spark that would settle for one shield at a time. It was a continuous wave of fire that wanted to burn everything.
