Chapter 162: A New Ability.
The Count grabbed his face and would have torn his head from his shoulders had he not become a diamond man. Instead, his fingers only managed to compress his skull like dough between his hands.
The Count's strength was that great. If Kelvin had only diamond skin, his head would have surely been crushed. But he was diamond all through, so the Count couldn't cause his skull to deform.
The Count asked calmly, "Why do you have Stella's diamond skin ability?"
Kelvin was honestly impressed. The man was fighting and talking as if he hadn't lost everything beneath his waist. Not many people could be this composed in a near-death situation.
But he didn't answer the question. Instead he cut off the man's arms quickly. This finally rendered the Count helpless.
But he paid for that with another wave of sickness. He was about to stand when the drain on his stamina increased exponentially. He buckled and fell to his knees.
The Omega ability had bypassed his physical defenses like they weren't there. He hadn't used his forcefield ability, but he doubts it will fare better than the literal diamond skin.
But all in all, things were good. He had incapacitated one of the targets. He couldn't give up right in front of the finish line. So he damaged the elevator to make sure it wouldn't work and dragged the man to the staircase where they would have some privacy.
"Don't do this. I can pay you twice as much as the bounty for my head. Isn't it 100 energy stones? I can give you double. I have the money in my room. Just let me go and you'll get it."
Kelvin didn't say anything. Instead, he poked holes in the man's eyes to blind him.
He did that because he had heard that the dead could talk. He didn't want him seeing anything that he might speak about later.
He also didn't say anything that can be used against himself. He got the man into the staircase and began absorbing his ability.
His ability to steal the destiny of others worked, but he felt some resistance. It was as if he was pulling a boulder out of a tiny pit with a single arm.
Not only is he not strong enough to pull the boulder, but the opening of the tiny pit is too small for the boulder to come out through. So he had to crack the opening of the pit to become wider. That way, he would be able to bring the boulder through it.
The friction that the opening of the pit was causing caused the delay. Something that should take a few seconds was taking ten times the time. Five seconds easily became fifty seconds.
He was sweating profusely as he was doing it. He hadn't sweated this much during the five-second intensive fight with the Count. It felt like this was the real fight. Their two omega abilities had taken the main stage to fight.
He was sweating, but the count was screaming in pain. It is because his body is the tiny opening. Kelvin is complaining about the opening being too small, and so was he, because the friction caused by his body was too painful to endure. Explore new worlds at empire
As Kelvin was pulling on the boulder, which is his ability, his body was literally cracking apart to create room for the boulder to pass through.
He didn't make any sound of pain when his limbs were cut off or when his spine was severed. But now he screamed. He screamed so much that Kelvin had to cut his tongue and dislocate his jaw.
Even then, he was still screaming. It was just silent. His muscles were tearing, his bones cracking, and his tendons snapping as his ability was stolen from him.
The experience was laborious for both of them. When it was done, both of them were breathing intensely and were about to pass out. Kelvin prevented this from happening by using his new ability.
This Omega ability called Life Steal didn't fuse with any of his previous abilities. He had to open his fourth slot for 80 game points. This left him with 201 game points. But it was worth it.
He didn't have to do anything physically for his ability to take effect. He could sense every major living thing around him. He could hear the slowing heartbeat of the Count before him and sense his rapidly fading life force.
All he had to do was reach out to it. His ability punctured a hole in the vessel containing the life force and drained it into his own vessel.
The vessel was dying and compromised. It couldn't even hold onto its own massive life force. It was leaking on its own, so his ability offered it direction.
The Count didn't offer any meaningful resistance. His entire life force was drained in just two seconds. Kelvin was revitalized immediately. His stamina returned, and he regained the energy to move.
He stood up and began to pack the corpse of the Count into a suitcase that he had prepared. Then he carried it downstairs to the waste disposal system. He watched it incinerated before leaving.
All in all, his fight and the process of extracting the ability had taken one minute and 30 seconds. The process of disposing of the body took another five minutes. Five minutes later, when the heroes rushed over because of the call from headquarters, he was already gone.
The heroes were not happy. They rushed about everywhere looking for the killer. They kicked up a lot of fuss that drew a lot of attention. Many heroes who hadn't cared about the death of Black Widow and Stella's death joined the investigation this time around.
It is not because they care about the Count per se. Their superiors insisted that they find the culprit. They also felt that they couldn't let such a dangerous person walk around killing heroes. So they were truly serious about this investigation.
