Chapter 352: Unforgettable Punishment
Julie's fingers curled nervously into the fabric of his shirt, her lashes lowered as she whispered.
"I...I do have one more confession."
Her cheeks flushed pink, her lips quivering as though the words burned even before they left her mouth.
"But it's...humiliating. More humiliating than anything I've already said. I don't know if I can—"
"Come now, little knight." His voice softened, but his arm around her tightened, making her feel caged and secure at once. "You've already admitted to bribery, gambling, jealousy, lying...what could possibly be worse than that?"
He nuzzled her ear with the barest brush of his breath.
"What could you possibly say that would shame you more than telling me you bought Skadi off with a steak?"
Julie squeezed her eyes shut, shaking her head, ears burning red.
"No, you don't understand...it's not like those. This isn't just a sin, it was...foolish. Irrational. Something I should never have done. My thoughts got so muddled, and I—"
"Oh? Irrational, foolish, embarrassing?" He chuckled low in his throat, cutting her off, his hand trailing down her back until it rested teasingly over the curve of her hip. "Sounds to me like you were probably rubbing your little bean while thinking about me in secret. Is that it?"
His tone was sharp mischief, a evil suggestion that hung between them, while Julie's eyes shot wide open, blinking rapidly.
"W-What? R-Rubbing...my…?"
She tilted her head, confusion in her expression, until she saw the smirk tugging at his lips.
Realization struck like lightning, and her ears turned pink, spreading heat across her entire face.
"N-no! No, no, I wasn't—! I would never...not during a mission!" She flailed her hands as if to swat away the accusation, stammering. "W-Where would I even do such a thing?!"
Cassius leaned back slightly, his grin widening, delighting in her panic.
"In the tent, obviously. Pull a blanket over yourself, touch that needy little cunt as much as you want, and no one would suspect a thing. You'd moan into the pillow, imagining me…"
Her face burned hotter, and she shook her head furiously, her ponytail whipping.
"N-No! I-I wasn't doing anything like that! Not even if I had the time, not even if I had the place! That's not what I did!" Her voice cracked in its desperation.
"Then tell me, Julie. Tell me what you did." His amusement never faltered. He leaned close again, his lips almost brushing hers, his tone suddenly soothing, coaxing. "Confess it properly. I won't let you wriggle out of this one."
She gulped, trapped by the closeness of his gaze. His eyes demanded honesty, demanded she bare herself as much as her body was already bared to him. With a shuddering sigh, she finally spoke.
"Well, on the road back to town, when we were riding with the carriages full of children...after you healed them, they all grew talkative. The girls especially started gossiping about you. About...us." Her hands fidgeted in her lap, her thighs pressing tighter together. "They wondered who your lover was. Whether it was me, or Aisha, or Skadi…"
Cassius raised a brow, clearly amused already.
"Most of them were saying Aisha and Skadi were obviously your lovers." Julie's lip trembled as she admitted. "That I wasn't as close to you as they were."
Her voice cracked with indignation.
"And it...it made me angry. Irritated. Frustrated. I don't know why, but I hated it. I couldn't stand them thinking I was the one left out."
Cassius smirked, sensing where this was going.
"So what did you do, Julie? What shameful thing did you say?"
Julie covered her face with her hands, peeking through her fingers at him.
"I...I told them...not to tell anyone else, because it was a secret....But that you and I were already in a relationship. That we'd been in one for years."
"You did what?!"
His eyes went wide, then he burst out laughing, as he was expecting much more shameless and naughty and wasn't something so sweet and innocent, while Julie's face was as red as her battered rear.
"I know, I know! I shouldn't have! I just...I just blurted it out! I didn't want them to think I was the only one not close to you, so I told them we were lovers."
"And I told them to keep it a secret, but somehow it spread through all the carriages. Now most of the children believe we're in a relationship right now!"
Cassius groaned, rubbing his temple with one hand, though his grin betrayed his amusement.
"So that explains it. No wonder those little brats kept giggling every time we stood near each other. No wonder they kept giving us those knowing looks. Damn, Julie…" He looked at her with mock exasperation and genuine delight. "You're the one behind all of that nonsense."
"I-It's not my fault! I couldn't help it, alright?" Julie's face went red, her voice tumbling out in a rush as she waved her hands frantically. "Anyone else would've done the same thing if they were in my shoes!"
Her words tumbled over themselves, desperate to defend her own pride.
"I mean, I'm no different from Aisha or Skadi, we're all part of the same team, aren't we? We're all just as close to you...But everyone kept saying it was them, that they were the ones who were closer to you, that they were the ones who, who…"
She trailed off, puffing her cheeks, flustered, before trying again, more forcefully, though her voice cracked.
"But it's also not fair and it's only natural people would think that way! Like with how Skadi was always rubbing herself on you, hanging off your back like a spoiled cat. And Aisha never left your side, she was always laughing with you, always talking with you. While I..."
She jabbed her finger at her chest.
"I was the one focused on duty, on cutting down trees and doing the hard work. I wasn't free like them, so of course people assumed they were closer to you!"
Her lips quivered as she muttered.
"So I had to do something about it...You can't blame me for that!"
Hearing all this new information come out, Cassius leaned back slightly, watching her with that maddening teasing smile curling his lips.
"Well, even if everything you just said is true...even if your logic makes perfect sense…" His head tilted, his eyes gleaming. "Why, Julie, would you even care what a bunch of children think about you and me?"
"Why get so angry if they pair me with Aisha or Skadi?"
"Why gamble away time with them, why hand out bribes, why lie to keep other competition away? Hm?"
He leaned closer, lowering his voice, every word a challenge.
"All of that sounds less like a knight fulfilling her duty...and more like a woman trying to keep a man for herself."
"...Isn't that right, Julie?"
The question struck her like a blade to the chest. Julie froze, her lips parting in shock. Her tongue stumbled over words that refused to form, her pride battling the heat in her chest.
Her head lowered in silence, trembling as she bowed, her flustered face hidden in the shadows. She couldn't deny it, and she couldn't admit it either.
And Cassius's heart raced as he took in the sight of her: trembling, cheeks burning, too honest and too shy to answer.
Gods, she was adorable. So much so that for a fleeting moment he didn't want to punish her at all, only wrap her in his arms and pull her in.
But then an idea sparked. His grin sharpened, his eyes narrowing with a dangerous glint as he leaned in.
He lifted her chin until her eyes met his and his voice dropped low, dark with promise.
"Well then. Enough talk, Julie. You've piled up a mountain of sins tonight, and that calls for a punishment worthy of them all."
His grin widened as he added,
"...A punishment you'll never forget for the rest of your life."
Julie gulped, eyes widening at the dangerous glint in his gaze. Her chest rose and fell too fast.
Still, after everything, after her confessions, her tears, her spanking, she could only nod, even as fear twisted with something else in her stomach. She closed her eyes, bracing herself, expecting fire, pain, something brutal.
But then his voice cut through the silence.
"Julie...Don't close your eyes."
Her eyes flew open, just in time to see him lean close, lips brushing hers as he murmured,
"I want you looking me straight in the eyes when I take your first kiss as punishment, so keep your eyes open all the while I take your lips."
Her mind went blank.
And before she could even stammer a reply, his mouth pressed against hers, hot, firm, stealing the breath from her lungs.
"Kiss!♡~"
At first it was only the press of lips, soft yet firm, but then Cassius deepened it, his tongue slipping past her parted lips, claiming her with unrestrained hunger.
"Mmm!♡~ Mmm!♡~ Kiss!♡~ Mmm!♡~ Slurp!♡~"
His tongue swept through her mouth, tasting, teasing, demanding, while Julie's mind spun into chaos.
Her fists clenched at his chest, torn between pushing him away and clinging to him tighter. She had no idea what was happening, no idea why her body felt so hot, why her head was so dizzy, why her lips couldn't resist him even as her pride screamed in protest.
"Kiss!♡~ Kiss!♡~ Mwah!♡~ Kiss!♡~ Nibble!♡~"
But all she could do was yield as the punishment devoured her, her first kiss, stolen in a blaze of fire that left her utterly undone.
