Book 8 Chapter Twenty; Ymmarax the Titan
The Titan, bloodied, bruised, and battered, staggered but refused to fall. Its molten ichor dripped from the countless wounds inflicted by Jazmel, Sadé, Baek, and Charme, each scar a testament to their relentless assault. Yet, instead of faltering, Ymmarax's presence grew more terrifying.
The air grew heavy, and the battlefield trembled as the Titan roared, its voice a guttural, otherworldly echo that sent chills down the spines of everyone nearby. "You think you've won?" it bellowed, its fiery eyes narrowing with malice. "I am Ymmarax the Unyielding, and I will not fall to mere mortals!"
Mana began to surge around the Titan, condensing and coalescing into a suffocating aura of molten red and black. The pressure was overwhelming, an oppressive force that made even breathing a challenge. Jazmel's Tyrannical Eye flared as he watched the flow of power, his expression darkening.
"Everyone, brace yourselves!" Jazmel shouted, his voice cutting through the chaos.
The Titan raised its massive arms high, the motion slow and deliberate as if to mock their efforts. It swung them back until its clawed hands nearly touched behind its back, the action creating a vortex of swirling Mana that crackled with unstable energy.
Then, with a terrifying smirk, Ymmarax brought its hands together in a thunderous clap.
Titanic Entropy!
The skill unleashed a deafening sonic boom, the sound so powerful it seemed to tear the very air apart. A wave of raw energy erupted from the Titan, expanding outward in a destructive dome that obliterated everything in its path.
The ground cracked and split, entire sections of earth hurled into the air. Walls crumbled, debris scattered like shrapnel, and anyone too close was flung back violently. The sky itself seemed to ripple, the red taint of the gate deepening as the Titan's power warped reality.
Jazmel, Sadé, Baek, and Charme each reacted instinctively:
Jazmel sank into the shadows using Shadowed Wraith, the dark tendrils wrapping around him to shield him from the brunt of the force.
Sadé, her nine tails ablaze, created a fiery barrier, her Mana roaring as she pushed back against the explosive wave. "This thing just doesn't stop!" she growled, her barrier cracking under the strain.
Baek planted his feet firmly, his Jian glowing with brilliant Mana as he sliced through the oncoming energy, dispersing sections of the shockwave with surgical precision.
Charme, her fists glowing with crimson Mana, slammed them into the ground, creating a shockwave of her own that countered the Titan's destructive force. Her aura flared, her breathing heavy but determined.
Even with their combined efforts, the battlefield was left in ruins. Smoke and ash filled the air, and the echoes of the Titan's booming laugh reverberated across the desolation.
As the dust settled, Ymmarax stood at the epicentre of the destruction, its molten body radiating with the aftereffects of its devastating attack. "You cannot withstand my power," it said, its voice dripping with disdain.
Jazmel, battered but unyielding, emerged from the shadows, his sword glowing with renewed Mana. "We're not done yet," he said, his voice cold and unwavering.
Jazmel and Baek stepped forward, their movements sharp and deliberate, leading the charge against the Titan. Side by side, they were an awe-inspiring sight one shrouded in shadow and the other glowing with unrelenting brilliance.
Jazmel's Yoru No Tsubasa sang with power, its shadowy aura rippling as he surged forward. Each strike from his blade unleashed slashes of pure darkness, the edges curling into raven-like forms that screeched and dove at the Titan's exposed flesh.
Baek moved with unmatched precision, his Jian a blur of silver light. His strikes were impossibly fast, each one finding weak points in the Titan's massive frame. He aimed for joints, cracks in the hardened molten armour, and even places weakened by Sadé's and Charme's earlier onslaughts.
"Keep its attention on us!" Baek commanded, his voice calm yet charged with authority. His presence radiated control, his Mana glowing in steady pulses as he struck again and again.
"Don't have to tell me twice!" Jazmel replied, his Tyrannical Eye burning as he tracked the Titan's every movement. He darted to the side, slashing at the Titan's leg with Reaping Ravens, the shadowy birds erupting from his blade and ripping into the flesh.
Ymmarax roared, swinging a massive arm in retaliation, but Baek intercepted, his Jian glowing as he parried the strike with a clash of steel and Mana. The force of the blow sent shockwaves through the battlefield, but Baek held firm, his stance unshaken.
Jazmel took the opportunity to dart in closer, his shadowed form weaving effortlessly through the Titan's defences. He leaped upward, his blade slashing a deep gash across Ymmarax's chest, shadowy ravens following to tear at the wound.
"Keep pushing!" Jazmel shouted, landing with fluid grace. "It's slowing down!"
Baek nodded, his aura flaring as he unleashed a flurry of strikes, each one carving glowing lines into the Titan's molten flesh. The two warriors worked in perfect tandem, their swords flashing as they exploited every opening, no matter how small.
Ymmarax bellowed in fury, swiping at them with wild, powerful swings, but they were too fast, their movements perfectly synchronized. Jazmel would distract the Titan with shadowy feints, while Baek's strikes followed with precision, exploiting the chaos to deal devastating blows.
The battlefield around them raged, but the focus of the fight was clear. Jazmel and Baek were relentless, their combined assault a whirlwind of shadows and light that began to overwhelm even Ymmarax's immense power.
The Titan snarled in frustration, its molten eyes blazing as it flared its Mana. With a deafening roar, it slammed its hands into the ground, the action shaking the battlefield like an earthquake.
Titan's Arbor!
Ymmarax bellowed, its molten flesh hardening and glowing brighter as its entire body became encased in a glowing, armoured shell. The aura radiating from it surged with violent intensity, and jagged spikes of corrupted energy erupted from its frame, turning it into a walking fortress of destruction.
Baek reacted instantly, his Jian flashing as he moved to intercept the Titan's next attack. But Ymmarax, faster than before, swung its massive arm like a battering ram, slamming into Baek with unstoppable force. The blow sent him hurtling through the air, his Mana shielding cracking under the impact as he crashed into the ground far behind.
"Baek!" Jazmel shouted, but he had no time to dwell. The Titan's follow-up strike was already aimed at him, a massive, spiked fist descending like a meteor.
Jazmel raised Yoru No Tsubasa, pouring his Mana into the blade as he blocked the blow head-on. The clash sent shockwaves rippling through the air, and for a moment, Jazmel held his ground, his shadowy aura flaring against the Titan's immense power.
But Titan's Arbor was relentless, the weight of the strike overwhelming. Jazmel's block faltered, and though he deflected part of the attack, the force of the blow still connected. It sent him flying backward, his body slamming into the shattered ground.
Jazmel gasped, pain radiating through him as he tried to push himself up. The Titan turned its attention to him, molten eyes narrowing as it raised both arms for a killing strike.
Before Ymmarax could finish him off, however, a streak of fiery light and a blur of crimson Mana exploded toward it.

"Not so fast!" Sadé roared, her nine tails blazing with Mana as she hurled herself into the fray. Her tails whipped through the air, striking with the force of explosive flames, each impact sending bursts of energy against the Titan's armoured shell.
"Get away from him!" Charme added, her voice filled with fury. She leaped high, her fists glowing with a crimson radiance as she brought them crashing down onto the Titan's back. The blow cracked the hardened armour, sending shockwaves rippling through Ymmarax's body.
The Titan roared in frustration, swinging its massive arms to fend off the two warriors. Sadé darted around its attacks with uncanny agility, her tails striking like a storm of fire and energy. Charme pressed the offensive with relentless martial skill, each strike precise and devastating, chipping away at the Titan's defences.
"Get up, Jazmel!" Sadé called out; her voice sharp but filled with determination. "We're not done yet!"
Jazmel groaned, forcing himself to his feet. His Tyrannical Eye glowed once more as he focused on the battlefield. Seeing Sadé and Charme holding their ground against the Titan gave him renewed strength.
"Hold it there," Jazmel muttered, gripping his sword tightly. "I'm coming back."
Jazmel's blood surged with purpose as he poured every last drop of his Mana into Yoru No Tsubasa, the blade humming in eager resonance, almost as if it were alive. Each step he took felt heavier, the drain on his energy palpable, but his determination outweighed the exhaustion. The blade seemed to grow, its edges darkening and glowing with ravenous hunger, absorbing his power, and amplifying it in ways he could feel deep in his very bones.
Every heartbeat pulsed in time with the sword's hum, its energy feeding off his essence, both empowering and draining him. The weight of the weapon felt lighter than ever before as his Mana flowed through it, the blade's own hunger mirroring his. But he knew he couldn't stop now this Titan would be the end of them all unless he finished it.
The ground beneath him cracked as he surged forward, each step leaving a faint shadow in its wake. He moved faster than his body wanted to, driven by will alone. The Titan, still struggling against Sadé and Charme, was momentarily distracted, its attention focused on the dual barrage of fire and martial prowess.
Jazmel saw the opening.
With a roar, he leaped into the air, Yoru No Tsubasa raised high. His Mana poured into it like a storm, gathering around the blade. The sky seemed to darken in response, his aura expanding like an unstoppable force. His Tyrannical Eye flared with power, pinpointing every weak point in the Titan's hulking form.
Reaping Ravens!
The sword sliced down, releasing a wave of dark energy so potent it seemed to bend the very fabric of reality around it. From the blade erupted a vortex of raven-shaped shadows, their talons glowing with destructive force. The ravens flew in all directions, each one a harbinger of death, each strike like a fatal blow to the Titan's already weakened frame.
As the ravens descended upon it, they tore at the hardened armour, digging into the molten flesh beneath. Jazmel's sword cleaved through the Titan's defences with an explosion of light and shadow, the impact shaking the earth itself. The Titan howled in agony as its body was torn apart, its once-imposing figure buckling under the overwhelming assault.
Jazmel landed with a thundering crash, his legs buckling beneath the sheer weight of exhaustion. His vision blurred, but he kept his focus on the Titan, already seeing the signs of its final collapse. Yoru No Tsubasa hummed one last time before falling silent, its hunger sated, its power now fully drained.
"You're finished," Jazmel said quietly, his voice hoarse but resolute, as the Titan's massive form crumpled to the ground, a broken shell of its former self.
Jazmel's vision was blurred, his body trembling from the immense strain he had just put on himself, but his determination remained. With a final burst of strength, he aimed Yoru No Tsubasa at the Titan, the blade vibrating in his hands as he swung down with all the power he had left. The blade cleaved through the air, slashing at the Titan's massive body but only its right forearm met the edge of his sword. The blade sunk deep, cutting through the thick, molten flesh with a sickening, bone-crushing sound, leaving the Titan's arm severed just below the elbow.
Blood no, molten ichor gushed from the stump in a torrential stream, spraying across the battlefield in an explosion of crimson and molten light. The Titan let out a chilling, gurgling cry, its body stumbling slightly from the impact. But it wasn't enough. The beast was still standing, rage burning in its eyes.
Charme didn't hesitate. Her figure flashed through the air, her martial prowess guiding her toward the Titan's vulnerable throat. She reached out with swift, powerful hands, her fingers glowing as she activated Dark Axis. The Titan's eyes widened in pain as Charme's grip closed around its windpipe, the crushing force of her power constricting its throat with a sickening snap.
The Titan choked and coughed up blood, a thick, gurgling sound that echoed across the battlefield, its molten form flickering with weakened light. Yet still, it stood, fighting to maintain its balance. Its chest heaved, struggling against Charme's powerful grip, but it wasn't enough to best it.
Before the Titan could retaliate, a shadow passed overhead. The ground trembled as Paldane, with a roar that shook the heavens, plummeted from above. The black dragon descended like a comet, its massive form wrapping the sky in a trail of fury. With a thunderous crash, Paldane collided into the Titan's already-weakened frame, sending shockwaves of air and debris outward.
Paldane's jaws snapped open, releasing torrents of fire, its breath a blazing inferno that seared the air itself. The flames, infused with Paldane's Mana and fury, enveloped the Titan in an unrelenting wave of heat. The Titan let out a final, agonizing scream as its body was consumed by the inferno.
The flames tore through its molten flesh, scorching and burning it from the inside out. The Titan thrashed, but it was no use. The fire spread faster than it could recover, consuming its every inch. Its once-mighty form began to crumble, the jagged armour cracking and splintering as the fire burned away its very essence.
With a final, bone-rattling roar, the Titan collapsed to its knees, and then, in an instant, it was gone reduced to nothing but a pile of smouldering ashes and charred remains.
Jazmel, Charme, and Sadé stood in the wake of the destruction, their breath ragged, their bodies battered but unyielding. Paldane circled above, roaring in triumph, the last remnants of the Titan's corrupted Mana scattering into the air like dust.
"Is it finally over?" Sadé asked, her voice quiet but filled with a mixture of relief and awe.
Jazmel looked over at Charme and Baek, then at the smouldering remains of the Titan. He nodded slowly, his body still pulsing with exhaustion. "For now."
The battle had taken everything from them, but the Titan Ymmarax the Unyielding was no more.

As the heat of battle faded and the adrenaline ebbed from Jazmel's veins, the deafening roar of combat was replaced by a distant sound cheering. At first, it was faint, muffled, as though his ears still rang from the Titan's final, fiery demise. But as he turned toward the walls, he saw them: the survivors, battered and weary, their faces streaked with blood and soot. They were clapping, their applause carrying across the charred battlefield.
Jazmel's shoulders sagged, his grip on Yoru No Tsubasa loosening as the exhaustion finally caught up to him. He gazed at the remnants of the defenders on the walls. There were so few now. The ranks that had once been hundreds strong were reduced to a scattered handful. He couldn't help but let his head fall, guilt clawing at him as he realized how many they had lost.
"Hold your head up," Charme's voice came, sharp and unyielding as ever. She stepped forward, her bloodstained hands resting firmly on her hips. "You did all you could. More than anyone could have asked of you."
Jazmel raised his eyes slightly, but his gaze was still heavy with doubt. "But was it enough? Look at them... so few left. I couldn't save them all."
Baek approached then, his steps slow but steady despite his own visible injuries. He adjusted his stance, placing a firm hand on Jazmel's shoulder. "You did all you could with all the might you could conjure," he said, his voice low but filled with conviction. "Not even the strongest among us can save everyone, Jazmel. But you held the line. You gave them hope."
Sadé, quiet until now, stepped to Jazmel's side, slipping her arm through his and leaning close. Her presence was warm, comforting even amidst the chaos around them. She didn't say anything at first, simply staying near him, grounding him. Finally, she murmured softly, "You've done enough, Jazmel. More than enough."
Jazmel looked at them Charme, Baek, and Sadé and then back to the cheering survivors. Their faces were worn but alive. Alive because of what they had all fought for. Slowly, he lifted his head, straightening his back. He still felt the weight of their losses, but the strength in his companions' words and presence bolstered him.
The cheering continued, a sound that was equal parts celebration and mourning, triumph, and sorrow. And as Jazmel stood there amidst the ashes of their victory, he found a small, flickering ember of hope within himself. They had survived this battle, and for those who had fallen, they would carry on. Together.
