Demon Legacy

Chapter 29: A fight begins

Demon Girl faced Re, her heart pounding as his smirk deepened. His crimson eyes gleamed with an unsettling mixture of malice and affection.

"Re," she said, her voice trembling, "what did I do to make you want to kill me?"

Re chuckled darkly. "Kill you? No, my little princess, you misunderstand me. I would never harm you. I only want to eliminate the others—your mother, that girl who claims to be your sister, and the fool who thinks he's your father."

Demon Girl's fists clenched, her eyes narrowing into slits. "They might not be my family, but they are mine to deal with, not yours!"

The Demon Queen stepped forward, her demonic energy radiating like an inferno. "Re, you're outnumbered. Leave now, and I'll let you go. Refuse, and you won't leave here alive."

Re smirked, unbothered. "Outnumbered? Let's fix that."

He closed his eyes, inhaling deeply before exhaling a crimson gas that enveloped the battlefield. The world twisted and shifted, transporting everyone into a desolate realm of jagged rocks and crimson skies. The group was separated, each of them isolated from one another.

From the shadows, Re tore a piece of his flesh, molding it into four clones: IE, FE, SE, and GE. Each clone radiated a fraction of his power, but together they were formidable.

"IE," Re commanded, pointing toward Kiki. "You take him."

"FE," he said, glancing at Scarlett. "She's yours."

"SE and GE, the queen is yours."

As the clones dispersed to their targets, Re turned to Demon Girl, his expression softening. "And you, my little princess—you're coming with me."

Before she could react, Re opened a portal and shoved her through. She landed hard on a jagged rock, the air knocked from her lungs. When she tried to move, an invisible force bound her in place.

Re appeared above her, his gaze steady but disturbingly gentle. "You'll see, princess. I'll make you understand. They're not worthy of you."

Scarlett vs. FE

Scarlett stood her ground, her demonic energy flickering like an unsteady flame as FE appeared before her. Its movements were a blur, its confidence palpable.

"So, you're the weak one," FE taunted. "This won't take long."

Scarlett didn't respond. She charged forward, her strikes sharp and deliberate. But FE dodged every attack with ease, moving so fast that Scarlett could barely track it.

"You're too slow," FE sneered, landing a sharp kick to her ribs. Scarlett crashed into the ground, groaning as blood trickled from her mouth.

FE appeared behind her, wrapping its arm around her neck and lifting her off the ground. "Predictable," it whispered, tightening its grip.

Scarlett struggled, her vision dimming as FE's claws dug into her skin.

"You can't win," FE said, throwing her to the ground with enough force to crack the jagged surface. It pressed a foot against her chest, pinning her down.

Scarlett gasped for air, her strength waning. FE raised its clawed hand, aiming for her heart.

But before it could strike, a voice rang out, clear and fierce.

"Scarlett! Don't you dare give up!"

Scarlett's eyes widened as Demon Girl's voice echoed through the realm.

"Don't die! Fight! Prove to everyone you're not weak!"

The words ignited something deep within Scarlett. Her trembling hands steadied, and her demonic energy surged violently, crackling like flames around her.

FE hesitated, momentarily taken aback. Scarlett seized the opportunity, grabbing its leg and flipping it off her. She stood, her eyes blazing with determination.

"I'm not weak," she said firmly, her voice resolute.

Scarlett's movements became sharper and faster, her strikes now landing with precision and force. She aimed for FE's joints, exploiting its arrogance.

FE snarled, realizing it had underestimated her. "You're stronger than you look," it admitted, retreating slightly.

Scarlett smirked, wiping the blood from her lip. "You have no idea."

Channeling all her demonic energy into a single, devastating strike, she landed a blow to FE's core. The clone let out a guttural cry before shattering into fragments, dissolving into the air.

Scarlett fell to her knees, her breaths ragged. "I did it," she whispered.

The Demon Queen's Battle

The Demon Queen faced SE and GE, her expression unreadable. The two clones attacked in unison, their movements coordinated.

SE launched a barrage of flaming projectiles while GE charged her directly, claws extended. The Queen dodged the fire and blocked GE's strike with ease, countering with a swift kick that sent it flying.

"Is this all you've got?" she taunted, her demonic energy flaring around her like a storm.

The clones regrouped, their tactics shifting. SE created a massive wall of fire, forcing the Queen to retreat, while GE closed the distance again. This time, its claws grazed her side, drawing blood.

The Queen gritted her teeth, her wounds healing almost instantly as her demonic energy surged. "You'll need more than cheap tricks to defeat me."

She unleashed a wave of crimson energy, obliterating SE's fire wall and sending both clones sprawling. Before they could recover, she was upon them, her strikes precise and unrelenting.

Within moments, SE and GE were reduced to nothing more than ash.

Kiki's Struggle

Kiki squared off against IE, whose speed and strength matched his own. Each time Kiki attempted to manipulate time to slow the clone's movements, IE countered with its own time-distorting abilities.

"You're not bad," IE admitted, throwing a punch that Kiki narrowly avoided.

Kiki smirked. "You're not good enough."

He concentrated, accelerating time in IE's body to force it to wear itself out. But the clone resisted, countering by slowing time around Kiki's strikes.

The battle was a stalemate until Kiki feigned an opening, luring IE into overcommitting. As the clone lunged, Kiki froze time for a fraction of a second, stepping aside and delivering a crushing blow to its back.

IE collapsed, its body dissolving as Kiki stood over it, panting.

Re and Demon Girl

Re crouched beside Demon Girl, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "Do you see now, princess? I'm the only one who truly cares for you."

Demon Girl glared at him, her voice venomous. "You're insane. I don't need your twisted protection."

Re smiled sadly. "You don't understand now, but you will. I'll make you see that no one else is worthy of standing beside you."

As he spoke, the bonds holding her began to loosen. Demon Girl's demonic energy surged, her determination unshaken.

"You're wrong," she said, her voice steady. "I'll destroy you myself."

Re sighed, his expression shifting to one of disappointment. "Then you leave me no choice."

The battle between them was about to begin
