Chapter 773: Side Chapters: A talk between mages
When a reincarnation of the Strongest Mortal Soul dies a part of the original soul forms his personality in the soul realm. This is a realm made by the original incarnation as a way to gather his future reincarnations to train for the inevitable final battle.
Among those many reincarnations, there were swordsmen, archers, barehanded fighters, and many more, and among those groups, the mages were the ones who talked to each other the most.
...
"Of course, the best form of a magician is being an alchemist. It combines the greatness of science and the miracles of magic. We can create potions that can even resurrect the recently deceased, and we can even create elixirs that can alter reality or enhance abilities to a ludicrous degree."
Hanz Heiter was the reincarnation who represented the alchemists as he was considered to be the very first alchemist the one who started the school of alchemy.
"Are you daft? In battle, such things as potions are easily destroyed, the true best form of a magician is, of course, being a battle mage. Enhancing your abilities with your spells is the best it won't break you don't need to stock up and you can use it anytime anywhere. Not to mention if you are depleted of spiritual energy, you can continue to fight with nothing but your body."
This time it was Aric Ironspell the most muscular of the mages that spoke. He was once a martial artist who felt a limit in his body so enhanced himself using spells that he created.
"Hahaha, you guys are saying such funny things. Of course, the best kind of magicians are the Bardic Mages. Not only can we do what you guys do we do it with a cool musical background. Not only can we strengthen ourselves we can also inspire others and also strengthen them altogether."
Kira played his various musical instruments as he spoke creating an epic feel to the way he presented himself.
"How boring and complicated, the best magicians are already born that way. That makes us the sorcerers the best kind of magicians. We in essence are magic itself and with little effort, we could do what needs to be done."
Varek Wolfsbane spoke and summoned an apple which he took a bite while smiling smugly.
"We might all be from the same source, have many similarities like our love for battle and we all share the title of the Strongest Mortal Soul, but it seems that we disagree on this topic. The best kind of magician is one who creates anything from nothing. As an illusionist, you might think what we create are simple hallucinations or fakes, but if you reach my level of skill then you can make fiction into reality."
Jareth spoke as he created various objects in his hand and showed the others that they were true objects not just illusions.
"You are all wrong, the best kind of magician is the oldest type of them all, it is we the elemental mages. We can manipulate the very elements to do what we desire, and once you reach my level of skill we can even transcend beyond the elements such as fire, water, and such, and instead control the very fabrics of reality."
Garrick spoke while writing a formula in the air and then space distorted right in front of them.
"Control the very fabrics of reality?" Hanz interjected, his voice laced with intrigue. "That sounds grand, Garrick, but let's be honest. Manipulating the elements may be impressive, but it's the alchemists who truly understand transformation. We can create and destroy on a fundamental level. What good is elemental power if you can't adapt it to your needs?"
Aric nodded, eyes glinting with determination. "That's why a battle mage is unmatched. We not only use spells to enhance our physical abilities, but we also learn to channel elemental forces. Imagine combining fire with sheer strength in a single strike. That's a force to be reckoned with! At my strongest, I can even destroy galaxies in a single punch."
"Tsk, don't speak like that's such an accomplishment, all of us here can do the same. In fact, aren't those guys who use crude things like swords, bows, and such do the same thing? We are the reincarnations of the Strongest Mortal Soul such strength is normal for us." Hanz replied shrugging his shoulders.
Aric chuckled, the tension in the air easing as he leaned back, arms crossed. "Fair point, Hanz. But it's not just about power; it's about how we wield it. We each have our own unique methods, and that's what makes this conversation so interesting."
Kira, still playing a lively tune, chimed in, "Exactly! Each of us has a different approach to magic and combat. My music doesn't just boost our powers; it shapes the very atmosphere of battle. A well-timed song can turn the tide just as easily as a powerful spell."
Varek nodded, swirling the remnants of his apple in his hand. "And that's where we all agree. But the essence of being a sorcerer is understanding that magic flows through us naturally. We tap into that flow effortlessly, making it seem almost like a game. Isn't that what makes us truly formidable?"
Jareth grinned, conjuring a series of shimmering illusions that danced around them. "But how long will that natural flow last when the stakes are high? Illusions can distract and confuse, but they also require creativity and strategy. If you rely solely on raw power, you might find yourself outmaneuvered."
"Hmph, in the end, all of you are just branches of elemental magic, meaning elemental magic is the true path of all magicians," Garrick replied to the others.
Aric smirked, clearly unfazed by Garrick's assertion. "You say that, but what's the foundation of your elemental manipulation? It's the understanding of how to channel raw energy. That's what battle mages excel at—merging physical prowess with elemental mastery."
Hanz leaned in, crossing his arms. "And while you all debate who's the best, remember that alchemy allows us to innovate and adapt. We can turn any situation to our advantage. If you're facing an overwhelming force, I could brew a potion that shifts the very rules of engagement."
Kira struck a chord, his melody punctuating the conversation. "But isn't it about more than just power or strategy? My songs can inspire courage and unity, turning the tide of battle before it even begins. Sometimes, the right motivation can lead to greater victories than sheer force alone."
Varek raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk on his face. "Interesting theory, Kira, but you'll find that when faced with true danger, raw magic is what will keep you standing. Sorcery allows for the deepest connection to the arcane; it's instinctive, not merely learned."
Jareth gestured dramatically, his illusions swirling into mesmerizing shapes. "Yet illusions can shift perceptions in ways brute strength cannot. In the chaos of battle, who's to say what's real? A well-placed illusion could create openings that raw power can't."
Garrick shook his head, a smile playing on his lips. "You all have your merits, but elemental magic is the core that binds us. It's the purest form of magic, and once mastered, it allows you to transcend all limitations."
Hanz couldn't help but click his tongue. "Tsk, isn't our conversation just going around and around now, how about we settle this like any other reincarnation of the Strongest Mortal Soul, through battle!"
"Hmph, haven't we already done that a few thousand times, each of us having the same wins and losses?" Garrick replied while shaking his head.
"You guys better stop talking about such useless things." Cry Loder the eternal Sage suddenly appeared and interrupted their conversation. "All of you come from the same tree of being magicians so what's the point of this discord, each of you is just branches from that same tree, you just sought the truth in different ways. In the end, isn't the only important thing amongst magicians reaching the truth?"
The sudden appearance of Cry Loder, the eternal Sage, silenced the mages, drawing their attention with an air of wisdom and authority. His presence felt like a calming breeze amidst the heated debate.
Hearing his words the growing blaze between them had died down. There was a moment of silence between them.
"I guess, Cry is right, I better go back to my research," Hanz was the first to break the silence.
"Yeah, I'll get back to research as well."
"Me too."
"I as well."
Now all of them stopped their debate and headed back to their respective places to once again try to reach their truths, and they shall continue to seek it until their demise in the battle against the ORIGIN.
