Chapter 421: What Are You?
"It exploded five this time..."
A fearful voice came from a nearby mummified corpse.
On the Wall of Origin, discussions among the One Gods resumed upon hearing the sound.
"What spectacular fireworks!"
"Never get tired of seeing it."
"Imagination and computational power that strong isn't necessarily a good thing."
"In the realm of the gods, it's easy to touch taboos and die."
"The Creator God, keep talking. Ever since the first era formed, I've loved hearing the old man's ramblings!"
"Get lost! What do you even understand!"
The Creator God shouted loudly. These younger gods didn't understand anything. Don't be fooled by how many One Gods are stuck to the Wall of Origin. In the eyes of the Creator God, they were as ridiculous as children.
"Creating the realm of gods from nothing, the First Era... and then what happened? I want more details." Bardi asked. No one could suppress their curiosity about this ancient history.
"Fine. Since you're being polite, I'll keep talking." The Creator God, acting as if nothing happened, ignored the One God who had just disrespected him and continued.
"It was a glorious era, the pinnacle age of the gods."
"Origin, back then, was just a little doll."
When the Creator God mentioned Origin in relation to the Wall of Origin, the other One Gods were shocked and asked, "Origin? It's stuck to our Wall of Origin?"
The Creator God glanced coldly at the one who asked.
"Yes."
"At that time, he was still just a baby. It was only by luck and our support that he managed to grow to where he is now."
"And then Origin betrayed all the One Gods."
"We fell from nothingness to the gods we are today. Our downfall is all thanks to Origin."
"He is the enemy of all the One Gods."
The Creator God's rotting lips curled into a sneer. His empty eyes swept across the shocked faces of the One Gods, and he said slowly,
"Since the First Era of the divine realm, we've been like fish in a pond. There's no escape."
In that moment, he seemed like an old man at death's door, clinging to his last breath but refusing to die.
"Why do you say that?"
"With our strength, even Origin can't kill us."
"Sooner or later, we'll break free from the Wall of Origin."
The Creator God immediately fell silent and stopped talking about the fish in the pond. If he continued, it would involve something too high-level, and the One Gods would perish from just hearing it.
One after another, the Creator God went on to talk about major events from the First Era, the war among the gods, and many famous ancient god incidents—like Lucifer giving up becoming an angel, falling into hell to become a fallen angel, and co-ruling hell with Satan. That incident caused a bloodstorm, shaking the entire divine realm.
There was also Lingbo Prison. Due to its special position as an escape route, it led to twists and turns that triggered the War of the Ancient Gods. More than half of the ancient gods disappeared in that battle.
When the First Era of the divine realm was destroyed, the Creator God was stuck to the Wall by Origin and couldn't break free. This marked the end of the First Era, with the divine realm's collapse.
Then came the rebirth of the divine realm. Waves of gods surged, and the old gods of the Second Era appeared one after another. The war of the Second Era began.
There weren't many old gods from the Second Era on the Wall of Origin. Everyone stuck to the wall had only one pastime—shooting the breeze. The old gods bickered, argued, and bragged endlessly, basically reconstructing many of the major events from the Second Era.
Many god kings, demon kings, and overlords once ruled the divine realm. But in pursuit of higher levels or after touching certain taboos, they were either plotted against or tricked by other gods. In the end, they all ended up stuck to the Wall of Origin, never to be reborn.
Through all the bragging, Bardi gradually unraveled the layers and reconstructed the terrifying grandeur of that era. There were countless overlords, gods, and demons—many stronger than Bardi himself. Even first-level monsters were here, stuck so tightly that it was unimaginable.
First-level. That was the level of Origin and the Master Monitor. They were on the same level, yet even they could be trapped like this. It was hard to imagine how powerful Origin and the Master Monitor truly were.
"Even if they're at the same level, there's still a huge difference." The Creator God answered Bardi's doubts. Even beings on the same level can differ vastly.
Take the Master Monitor and Origin, for example.
The Prime Monitor was superior, capable of killing One Gods, and possessed Eleventh Dimensional Technology—something that could destroy a One God. None of the other One Gods had that ability.
Aside from the beast and God, only the Prime Monitor had that power. It could even kill Origin.
The Wall of Origin was far inferior. It could only trap One Gods and absorb their power.
"Then why didn't the Prime Monitor kill Origin? Why did he send Yuga Khan to walk on the Wall of Origin?" Bardi asked.
"Because Origin can't be located. The Wall of Origin separates the Master Monitor from the divine realm. He uses it to absorb the power of the One Gods and sever latitudes. The Prime Monitor can't get in." the Creator God replied.
Bardi fell silent.
The other One Gods began discussing the Third Era—the beginning of this era, the battles long past. Another round of bragging began. Each One God was an overlord, emperor, god king, or demon king. None feared the others. Each had ruled over trillions of beings. They shouted louder than each other, and when disagreements arose, they cursed—sometimes for centuries...
"Is there any way to break free from the Wall of Origin?"
Bardi frowned and asked. The wall was sucking on his back like a giant mouth, endlessly draining his power, his blood, and his marrow—bit by bit.
It was an unbearable feeling.
When Bardi asked, the bragging and bickering among the One Gods stopped.
The Wall of Origin returned to being vast, boundless, and blood-red—stretching endlessly across the universe.
The silence was filled with fear.
If there was a way to leave, they would have left already.
"There is." The Creator God said nonchalantly.
Bardi's eyes lit up, but then he frowned. If so, why were they still stuck here?
Still, he wanted to escape this infinite cage.
With a grim expression and a heavy heart, he continued to ask, "What is it?"
"Turn your head and look at that idiot licking the Wall of Origin."
Before the Creator God could say more, the other One Gods chimed in.
"The Wall of Origin is actually the source of our power. The source."
"The source created us One Gods. It can also destroy us."
"If you can absorb the source within the Wall of Origin, you can rapidly grow stronger. Eventually, you could gain enough power to act on the wall itself."
"Even Origin didn't fully absorb all the source energy from the Wall of Origin. The uninterrupted flow of divine power from generations of One Gods—even Origin couldn't handle it all."
"If any god could absorb the source energy from the Wall, then one day, he could grow strong enough to devour Origin and walk away freely."
"But that's impossible. The Wall of Origin is so hard that even a first-level One God can't scratch it."
"That idiot's been licking it forever. He hasn't even managed to scrape off a single flake of energy or residue."
Bardi turned to look and saw a rotting mummy clinging to the Wall of Origin with its dried-up tongue, licking it like a desperate dog.
Noticing Bardi's gaze, the corpse glared fiercely back.
"Haha! Doesn't he look like a dog?"
"Pointless. He's been licking it since the Second Era, and hasn't licked off a speck. Where's your dignity as a god?"
"Screw you! I won't give up, you trash."
Bardi looked at the god and, for some reason, felt a surge of irritability.
From the Second Era until now—and still nothing? What happens if he just keeps licking?
Is that his future too?
Is there no escape?
Damn it!
He turned back and glared at the blood-red Wall of Origin behind him. His frustration boiled over into anger. With eyes wide and mouth open, his sharp teeth—like jagged mountain peaks—bit into the Wall of Origin.
The other One Gods shook their heads.
"Another god's gone crazy."
"He's gonna try biting the Wall of Origin."
"We've all been there."
Click...
"Hey! It's really... FUCK!!!"
Bardi was a bit stunned. Wasn't the Wall of Origin supposed to be extremely hard? Not even a first-level One God could damage it—so why did he bite off a chunk?
Next to his head was a blood-red gap—just bitten off by him. The abundant source energy flowed into his mouth, and his body absorbed it. He chewed twice. It wasn't as hard as expected. The red crystals shattered like biting into chicken bones, and he swallowed it all.
The source energy was absorbed quickly. His lost divine power was replenished. His dried-out body began to swell and return to its peak state. His body even started to evolve.
The other One Gods' eyes bulged!
"How did you bite the Wall of Origin?"
"What kind of god are you?"
"The Wall of Origin is soft now?"
"The Wall of Origin is dying!"
"I'll try... Ah! My only tooth broke!"
"There's nothing wrong with the Wall of Origin!"
"What are you?! You actually bit through the Wall of Origin!!!"
(To be continued.)
