DC Heroes in Marvel

Chapter 316: C276

Anton did chat with Z, spending a considerable amount of time discussing the letter K.

Z simply stated that he had no colleague by that name.

Anton could only sigh in disappointment.

If this were truly the Men in Black, then K should be Z's subordinate, and J would be the rookie that K eventually recruits.

As for the other letters, what Anton was most interested in were H, played by Thor, and M, played by Valkyrie.

Bringing all these people together would definitely be interesting.

Of course, he still wasn't sure if the Agent Z standing before him was the former boss Z from the Men in Black franchise.

Not that it really mattered.

It was just Anton indulging in his own transmigrators' humor.

The next day arrived quickly.

Under John Keller's leadership, Anton attended a meeting organized by the World Security Council.

Alongside his deputy, Agent Z, he participated as the head of the UFO SWAT team, the newly appointed "Boss in Black", and Earth's official representative in negotiations with Thor of Asgard.

The meeting lasted an entire day, but by the end, Earth finally gained some insight into Asgard.

While there was some disappointment, there was no regret.

Asgard's power and influence in the universe were far beyond anything Earth could match.

Sure, Odin might seem like just an old guy now, but in his youth, he had been one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel universe—a legendary warrior known across the cosmos.

Even though his time in battle had long passed and he had withdrawn to Asgard, his legacy remained.

Perhaps the newer generations didn't speak of him as much, but his record of achievements could never be erased.

In short, until Odin succumbed to old injuries and passed away, he was not someone to provoke.

Because Odin would not hesitate to drag others down with him.

He wouldn't fight to the death himself, but he'd make sure you suffered for it.

And Odin was definitely capable of pulling off that kind of move.

With Anton's insight into Asgard's leadership, Earth took a more cautious approach and ultimately agreed to Asgard's terms.

In reality, Asgard hadn't made many demands—they only wanted Loki returned to Asgard for trial.

As for Asgard's side, Thor—acting as the first heir to the throne—had granted several concessions to Earth's representatives, making the negotiations relatively smooth.

Simply put, both sides exchanged what they needed, forging an alliance and agreeing to mutual support.

The terms were simple in nature, but the implications were significant.

However, unlike Earth, Asgardians didn't overcomplicate matters with unnecessary political maneuvering. As the ruling force of the Nine Realms, they carried a deep-rooted sense of pride.

In their eyes, even though Earth wasn't officially within their domain, it was still a neighboring world, one they instinctively considered under their watch.

The phrasing might sound arrogant, but the reality was clear—

"You don't let just anyone set up camp next door."

Asgard couldn't allow Earth to be occupied or manipulated by other alien forces—it would pose too much of a strategic risk for them.

Interestingly, the Earth's proposed alliance aligned with Asgard's own security concerns, making cooperation a logical next step.

Once the negotiations concluded, Thor took Loki back to Asgard.

At that moment, John Keller approached Anton with an interesting question.

"The Tesseract… is it in Batman's hands?"

Anton's expression remained perfectly calm.

"No," he said flatly. "The Tesseract was destroyed."

There wasn't even a flicker of hesitation—his face was composed, his heartbeat steady.

"During the Battle of New York, maintaining the portal required an immense amount of energy. At a critical moment, the Tesseract's energy output caused space resonance. Batman had no choice but to destroy its outer protective casing to prevent a catastrophic event. In the end… the Tesseract shattered. The collapse of the portal followed soon after."

Keller narrowed his eyes slightly. "And the fragments?"

"Gone."

Anton didn't miss a beat. "The fragments of the Tesseract couldn't be preserved. They gradually dissipated."

Keller was silent for a long moment, studying Anton's face carefully.

Then, he gave a slow nod.

"Well, either way, the Tesseract was never a good thing. Whether it's truly destroyed or not, it's best that no further trouble comes from it."

Anton's voice remained firm.

"Don't worry, Mr. Keller. I have no reason to lie to you—the Tesseract is gone."

As he had said, the Tesseract was indeed destroyed.

However, what was broken was merely the outer crystal—not the Space Stone itself.

The Tesseract was nothing more than a containment vessel for the Space Stone, and once it shattered, the true form of the Infinity Stone was revealed.

Now, both the Space Stone and the Mind Scepter, which houses the Mind Stone, are securely stored in the depths of space—hidden within the Justice League's war fortress.

Of course, there was no need to share that information.

Keeping the Infinity Stones on Earth would only invite disaster after disaster. It was far safer for Anton to keep them off-world.

Besides, if he wanted to unlock the ultimate armor, he would need to use Infinity Stones to do it.

His system required additional conditions to exchange for high-level battle armor, which meant Anton had no choice but to gather the stones himself.

Not that he minded.

Sooner or later, Thanos would come to Earth. Whether Anton actively collected the stones or not, he would eventually be forced to deal with them.

From that perspective, securing the stones early wouldn't change the inevitable battle ahead.

Hearing Anton's explanation, Keller remained silent for a moment, then left without further questions.

With that settled, Anton returned to New York.

His deputy, Agent Z, did not accompany him.

Under orders from the World Security Council, the Men in Black headquarters still required extensive preparations.

Anton had no interest in wasting time on bureaucratic work, so he delegated full authority to Z and let him handle everything.

To be honest, Anton's hands-off approach actually reassured the U.S. government.

They saw Anton as an interesting, albeit unpredictable figure—but what they didn't realize was that he understood his own role far better than they did.

In truth, the Men in Black organization meant nothing to him.

Even the World Security Council didn't hold his attention—after all, they lacked the power to handle the endless crises Earth would soon face.

The Justice League was his foundation.

Rather than wasting time monitoring the Men in Black's progress, Anton would rather check on the production status of "Batman v Superman."

Half a Month Later

The Men in Black headquarters was finally operational.

Agent Z, having spent the past two weeks running the entire operation alone, finally tracked down Anton—who had been relaxing the entire time—and invited him to visit.

In the entire half-month since his appointment, Anton hadn't set foot in the headquarters once.

At times, Z even felt like he was the real boss of the Men in Black.

Of course, he wasn't foolish enough to believe that.

Behind Anton stood Batman and the Justice League—an alliance of extraordinary individuals.

In today's world, who would dare underestimate them?

The only organization with enough influence to oppose the Justice League, S.H.I.E.L.D., had already been effectively dismantled.

In truth, the World Security Council hadn't chosen Anton to lead the Men in Black because of his personal abilities.

Not at all.

This was nothing more than a strategic move—a way for the World Council to align itself with Batman and the Justice League.

It was a political statement, signifying that the Justice League's influence had reached new heights.

Even the United States government, for all its power, now had to tread carefully when dealing with them.

That said, both sides had a mutual understanding—as long as no one stepped on the other's toes, there was no reason for unnecessary conflict.

Agent Z was a smart man.

After years of working in espionage, he had learned a valuable lesson—if you want to live a long life, do your job well and don't make trouble.

Men in Black Headquarters

"We're here."

Z led Anton to a seemingly ordinary park near Manhattan.

The focal point of the park was a sealed-off observation tower.

Anton vaguely remembered that this tower used to be open to tourists.

"Our base is here." Z stated matter-of-factly.

As Z said, Anton walked into the tower and entered the elevator.

The elevator descended.

"An underground base?" Anton was surprised. "When did they build an underground base here? In just half a month? I can't imagine they would've pulled that off that quickly."

"This used to be a refuge," Z explained. "We searched for a long time, then decided to rebuild it and turn it into the base for the Men in Black."

Yes, Agent Z seemed to prefer the name Men in Black over UFO SWAT team.

"Very good, saved a lot of resources," Anton said.

As they spoke about the base, Anton suddenly thought of his old adversary. He asked, "By the way, I heard S.H.I.E.L.D.'s headquarters has moved to Europe?"

"Yes," Z replied. "The building where S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters was in Washington has now been replaced by the headquarters of the special forces. The military is quite happy about it."

Z nodded and continued, "In addition, the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters didn't just move to Europe. Former Deputy Director Nick Fury applied to the World Security Council for a transfer and joined another department."

"Oh?" Anton frowned, a bit intrigued. He sensed that Fury might be up to something, so he curiously asked, "Which department?"

"The name's a bit confusing..." Z thought for a moment, then said, "I think it's called... the SWORD."

"???"

Anton's face turned dumbfounded. He muttered, then squinted his eyes.

S.W.O.R.D.

Wasn't that the Sword organization?
