DC Heroes in Marvel

Chapter 310: C270

"Loki?!"

After the long and intense battle, Captain America finally processed the situation—Loki was the true mastermind behind everything.

If not for him, this war never would have happened.

In Steve's mind, even Victor Doom seemed almost redeemable by comparison. With most of the Avengers having been freed from mind control, he had assumed Doom had also been brainwashed and manipulated by Loki.

Anton, however, had no interest in explaining anything to Steve.

The Battle of New York was over, but there was still much work to be done. Cleanup, recovery, and countless other aftermath concerns.

But first on the list? Loki.

Unlike everything else, dealing with him couldn't wait.

Whoosh!

"They're over there," Wonder Woman announced as she arrived.

After Anton had successfully seized the Mind Scepter, Wonder Woman had launched a surprise attack on Loki, knocking him off a building.

Thor, however, had swooped in at the last second to catch him—his loyalty to his brother undeniable.

It could almost be called true love.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!

A group of heroes rushed to the scene, arriving just in time to see Thor and Loki locked in a tense struggle.

Surrounded by an overwhelming force, Loki maintained a neutral expression, but inside, he felt a twinge of unease.

He had just witnessed the sheer power of these warriors during the Chitauri invasion.

Even by Asgardian standards, they were formidable.

If they decided to attack him all at once, not even he and Thor together could withstand them.

Sensing the tension, Thor took a deep breath and stepped forward.

"Everyone," he began, his voice steady, "on behalf of Asgard, I deeply regret what has happened to your world."

His gaze swept across the gathered heroes before settling on Captain America.

"But Loki is Asgardian. He is not only my brother but also the son of Odin, the All-Father. I ask that you allow me to take him back to face justice in Asgard."

His tone was serious, even pleading.

"This is why I came to Earth—to bring him home for judgment. Please, for the sake of our alliance and the battles we have fought together, grant me this request. I give you my word that Loki will never set foot on Earth again. Asgard will ensure he faces the punishment he deserves."

"Asgard will stand with Earth as an ally," he added. "And I will always fight by your side."

The moment his words fell, silence took hold.

Batman glanced around and noticed something—everyone was looking at him.

Thor and Loki noticed it too. It didn't take long to realize that in this room, Batman was the one who held the final say.

"Batman," Thor said again, this time more earnestly. "Asgard acknowledges our negligence in this matter, and we are willing to pay the price. But as Loki's brother, and as a prince of Asgard, I cannot allow him to be dealt with outside our laws. I beg you—let me take him back."

His voice carried genuine emotion—something rare for a prince of Asgard.

Even Loki was momentarily stunned. He had never seen Thor bow his head like this before.

Batman finally spoke, his cold gaze locking onto Loki.

"Personally, out of respect for Odin, I'm willing to let Asgard take him," he said.

Loki tensed. There was something in Batman's voice that sent a chill down his spine.

Then, Batman turned his attention to Thor.

"But you're not leaving yet."

A heavy silence followed.

"Loki must first be officially arrested by Earth. He will go through the proper channels, stand trial, and then—once the process is complete—you may take him back to Asgard."

In other words, Loki wasn't going anywhere just yet.

He would first face justice on Earth.

Only after that would Thor be allowed to bring him home.

In addition to convincing Batman, Thor also had to persuade the authorities.

And by "authorities," this didn't just mean the U.S. government—it included the major world powers behind the World Security Council, particularly the five permanent members.

However, with Asgard backing Loki, the process became more of a formality. He would go through the official procedures before being taken back to Asgard for trial under Thor's custody.

Skipping that process entirely would be a problem. If Batman and the others simply let Loki go without authorization, it could create unnecessary conflict.

"No problem," Thor said quickly, nodding. "I will personally escort Loki to whatever prison you prepare. I will also guard him myself to ensure he doesn't escape."

He understood what Batman was implying, and with that reassurance, he felt relieved.

Anton gave a slight nod.

With this battle over, Earth had once again been exposed to the reality of extraterrestrial threats. This event would change everything. It was better to take control of the situation now rather than reacting later.

Asgard's involvement with Earth would mark the planet's first real step into the wider universe.

In that grander scheme, Loki himself wasn't the most important factor.

Besides, keeping Loki as an official prisoner of Earth could be leveraged to strengthen diplomatic ties with Asgard—an outcome far more beneficial than simply executing him.

As one of the key figures in this development, Batman would gain significant prestige, along with official recognition and backing from various nations.

And then there was Odin.

Anton wasn't looking to provoke the King of the Gods—not yet, at least.

Superman hadn't entered the picture yet, and until he did, Earth wasn't ready for deeper space exploration. For now, staying put was the best course of action.

At the current rate, his "Superman Fan Value" had reached almost 70 million. Once the "Batman vs superman " arc played out, it would easily surpass 100 million.

And when that happened?

It would be harvest season.

"Speaking of which…" Anton mused aloud. "Loki won't be the only one going to prison."

He turned his head, his gaze sweeping over Iron Man, Harry, and the other Avengers still restrained nearby.

No matter how things played out, the Avengers would be lucky to escape with their lives.

As for S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Their situation was even worse.

Whether the organization would even survive was now an open question.

The internal Hydra problem was a legacy issue from a past generation. But with this alien invasion, S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers had essentially become weapons in the enemy's hands.

Now, everything depended on how the World Security Council judged S.H.I.E.L.D.'s failures.

"Batman," Captain America finally spoke, his voice firm. "Tony and the others weren't in control of their actions. They're innocent in all of this. Please, trust us—we'll handle it properly."

Unlike the original timeline, Steve and Tony weren't at odds. They had different personalities, but there was no deep resentment between them.

And for Steve—frozen in time, only to awaken decades later—his feelings toward Tony were complicated.

Tony was older than him, yet he was still the son of Steve's old friend and fellow soldier.

At the very least, at this moment, Steve would stand by him.

Batman, however, remained unmoved.

"I don't care how they're dealt with." His tone was indifferent. "Maybe you think the Avengers are meant to rival the Justice League, but from my perspective? You're not even worth considering."

There was a slight shift in the air as Steve and the others frowned.

They wanted to respond, but Batman didn't give them the chance.

"Of course," he continued, "it would be better if you didn't exist at all."

Silence.

The weight of that statement settled over the group like a heavy fog.

"Alright."

Batman glanced around. "We're done here. This isn't our job anymore."

And with that, a beam of light enveloped him—his teleportation device activating.

The remaining members of the Justice League followed his lead, vanishing from the scene one by one.

Now, only the special forces, the New York Police Task Force, and the remaining Avengers remained.

They looked at each other.

No one spoke.

The entire Battle of New York had played out under Batman's control.

And even now, at the very end, none of them had a say in how things would proceed.

For the first time, the Avengers felt powerless.

And they had nothing to say.
