Chapter 307: C267

In a flash, the chitauri soldiers gathered around Stark Tower, surrounding Batman from all directions.

Through the live camera broadcast, everyone watching instinctively held their breath.

Ordinary people didn't know the key details of the battle. But the moment they saw Batman appear, followed by a swarm of alien soldiers closing in like a black cloud descending from the sky—giving him no chance to escape—they immediately sensed that Batman held the key to victory or defeat.

Moreover, in the minds of the public, Batman was someone who could turn the tide at critical moments. This belief reinforced their assumption that he was the deciding factor in this battle.

In fact, their intuition was absolutely correct.

At that moment, Anton stood on the helipad, planning to use the psychic scepter in his hand to breach the protective barrier surrounding the Tesseract.

But as he looked around, he saw chitauri soldiers and bio-ships converging from all directions, closing in like layers of a sandwich.

Taking in the scene, he realized that the Chitauri had already felt the mounting pressure from Earth's defenders. They understood the threat he posed to their plans—and they were determined to eliminate him at all costs.

Boom! Boom!

Before Anton could act, the surrounding soldiers opened fire. Together with the bio-ships, they unleashed a barrage of terrifying shells and dense energy blasts, converging from all angles to engulf Batman in a devastating storm of destruction.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Anton activated his laser and spun rapidly. The swirling beam detonated the incoming energy blasts and shells mid-air.

BOOM!

A thunderous explosion shook the sky, deafening and relentless.

The shells and energy rays erupted one after another like a chain of firecrackers. Flames roared into the sky, and the powerful shockwaves created ripples in the air, visible to the naked eye.

Thick, billowing smoke spread across the battlefield, shrouding everything in its path. Even the Chitauri soldiers couldn't avoid being swallowed by the dense haze.

Seeing this, Green Arrow and the others instinctively froze.

Their view of Batman was completely blocked by the Chitauri's encirclement and the heavy smoke. They couldn't tell if he'd survived the assault.

The sheer force of the explosion sent a tremor through their hearts, and for a brief moment, their steps faltered as they stared ahead, dreading the worst.

"Batman is okay!"

Snapping out of it, Green Arrow urged, "We're running out of time. We have to make sure Batman can close the portal safely!"

Hearing this, the others felt a small wave of relief.

Though they had no way to confirm Green Arrow's words, his unwavering tone as Batman's loyal comrade gave them hope. Whether it was psychological or not, their tension eased slightly.

This emotional moment wasn't lost on the rest of the world.

"Gulp."

A cameraman from a news crew swallowed hard, his voice shaky.

"Batman… he'll be okay, right?"

"Don't jinx it!" his colleague snapped, trying to steady the trembling microphone in his hands. "Batman's not going down—not today!"

The reporter gritted his teeth, his voice wavering as he added, "God bless… Batman has to be safe."

Though they tried to keep their voices low, the high-quality microphones picked up every word, broadcasting the emotional exchange to millions watching the live stream.

"Batman must be okay!"

Across the world, people crossed their fingers, clenched their fists, and held them over their hearts, silently praying for the Dark Knight.

Encircled by the Chitauri.

Although Anton managed to detonate most of the incoming artillery shells and energy blasts with his lasers, a few slipped through the cracks, striking him directly.

With a powerful step, Anton propelled himself off the tarmac, the aircraft behind him exploding in a fiery blast, launching him high into the air.

He knew that staying on the helipad would only make him an easy target for the alien forces. Spotting an opening, he dove straight into the heart of the Chitauri formation.

Rumble!

As he expected, even though he was now within the enemy's ranks, their relentless assault didn't stop.

Energy blasts and shells rained down like there was no tomorrow, with no regard for the possibility of hitting their own troops.

Boom!

Explosions erupted all around as Anton carved through the Chitauri with precision. Using his laser beams and an arsenal of advanced weaponry embedded in his suit, he cut down wave after wave of alien soldiers while nimbly dodging the relentless barrage.

However, the enemy's ferocity was overwhelming. The indiscriminate bombardment, which showed no concern for friendly fire, inevitably took its toll.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

No matter how advanced the batman beyond Armor was, its durability couldn't withstand continuous, heavy damage forever.

In just a few heartbeats, Anton had already slain dozens of Chitauri, but his armor's durability had dropped by 50%.

Anton sighed inwardly.

'Good thing I swapped out the Arkham Knight armor for this set when I fought Loki. If I were still wearing that old suit, it would've been destroyed in the first wave of this insane bombardment.'

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Before the thought even faded, another barrage rained down. Anton dodged with all his might, but a cluster of unavoidable shells slammed into him, causing his flight systems to stall midair.

Inside the suit, Anton felt the pressure mounting.

[Durability decreased to 31%. Damage rate: 78%]

[Warning: Armor integrity compromised. Combat efficiency reduced by 66%. Flight systems nearing critical failure.]

Despite the dire situation, Anton remained calm. He still had an ace up his sleeve.

[Initiate emergency repairs on batman beyond Armor. Cost: 16 million fan points (40% of the armor's original value). Confirm?]

[YES]

Anton confirmed without hesitation.

Among all his personas, Batman was his trump card. His accumulated fan points had long surpassed the hundred-million mark, and even when combined, his other hero identities didn't come close to Batman's total.

Spending a mere 16 million points was nothing.

Hiss—!

In an instant, the battered, nearly shattered armor was replaced by a pristine, fully restored version of the batman beyond Armor, its systems reset to factory condition.

Anton's power surged back to its peak. His energy levels spiked, his movements sharpened, and his confidence was unshaken.

BOOM!

With renewed strength, he dove back into battle—unstoppable.

Surrounded by laser fire, the nearby enemies exploded instantly.

After Anton's fierce delay, his companions—Green Arrow and the others—finally arrived on the scene.

"Damn aliens, go to hell!" shouted Spider-Man, his masked face filled with rage.

Seeing his idol besieged by shameless aliens using overwhelming numbers—dozens attacking just one man—filled him with fury.

Whizz!

Spider-Man's web shot out, latching onto an enemy aircraft. With a sharp tug, he swung through the air, arcing gracefully before delivering a powerful kick that sent the ship spiraling out of control.

The others joined in, each using their unique abilities to disrupt the Chitauri forces, buying Anton precious time.

"Batman, do what you have to do!" Captain America shouted, gripping his shield tightly. He hurled it with precision, taking down several enemies before it ricocheted back into his hand. Amidst the chaos, he added firmly, "We'll handle things here!"

Anton gave a slight nod, activating the jet boosters on his back. He blasted through the Chitauri's defensive line, making his way back to the rooftop landing pad.

By now, the pad was firmly occupied by the Chitauri. Their leader, having guessed Anton's objective, had ordered reinforcements to secure the area.

But no amount of Chitauri could stand in Anton's way.

In moments, he was once again standing before the Tesseract.

BOOM!

Just as he was about to act, a massive Chitauri warship emerged through the space portal. Without hesitation, it launched a barrage of devastating energy projectiles—each like a blazing meteor, streaking through the sky with fiery tails.

"Batman!"

"Look out!"

Cries of alarm rang out from his allies.

The crumbling Chitauri formation allowed the cameras to capture the scene clearly, broadcasting it worldwide.

In homes, military bases, and command centers across the U.S., millions of people held their breath, fists clenched in silent prayer. Everyone understood the gravity of the moment.

But under the intense pressure, as the deadly shells hurtled toward him, Anton—the Batman—did not flinch.

He didn't retreat, didn't hesitate. Instead, he calmly thrust the Mind Scepter into the protective barrier surrounding the Tesseract.

"Batman… you madman…"

"No way… is he going to—?"

Viewers everywhere were stunned, convinced they were witnessing Batman's final, self-sacrificing act.

The projectiles closed in fast—less than ten meters from impact.

CLANG!!

At the last possible second, a slender figure burst onto the scene.

Two gleaming silver bracelets collided with a thunderous crash.

BOOM!

A colossal shockwave of divine energy erupted, creating a shimmering barrier that absorbed the full brunt of the explosion.

The warhead detonated outside Stark Tower, the force of the blast shaking the very foundations of the city.

RUMBLE!

A massive shockwave rippled outward, tearing through the skyline. The deafening roar was followed by a deep gash carved into the earth, stretching hundreds of meters and gouging holes through several skyscrapers.

The Chitauri soldiers caught in the blast were obliterated instantly.

"Hiss—"

The surviving heroes gasped, stunned by both the destructive power of the warhead and the sheer might of the woman who had stopped it.

Wonder Woman.

She stood firm, though beads of sweat glistened on her forehead, betraying the immense effort it had taken.

Is this the power of a god?

Yet despite her feat, she wasn't the focus of the moment.

The true spotlight remained on Batman, standing calmly behind her, utterly unfazed.

Zzzzt!

Under the influence of the Mind Scepter, the protective barrier surrounding the Tesseract dissolved. The conflicting energies neutralized each other, breaking Loki's mental control over the Avengers and dispelling all lingering manipulations.

Without missing a beat, Anton fired a concentrated laser beam, destroying the device that kept the portal open.

Whoosh!

The star-filled rift above shrank rapidly. Deprived of the Tesseract's energy, the space gate collapsed in on itself, growing smaller and smaller until it vanished entirely.

At that moment, Batman turned to Connors and the others, who had rushed to his side.

Though the crisis had been averted, Anton remained stoic, his expression unchanged—as if he had known all along that victory was inevitable.

In his signature calm tone, he asked, "I told you to bring something. Did you?"

"Of course," Connors replied with a toothy grin. His monstrous, reptilian features—courtesy of his transformation into the Lizard—made him look fierce, but his voice betrayed a hint of excitement.
