Chapter 305: C265

Push back the time a few minutes.

The army of the Chitauri is continuously pouring into Earth from the far reaches of space.

All the superheroes of the Justice League are fighting with all their strength against the alien invaders.

Special forces, along with the New York Police Department, are struggling to maintain order outside the combat zone.

As the chief of police, George bravely leads his task force, taking the initiative to enter Manhattan's combat zone to fight the aliens.

Images of the battle spread rapidly through numerous cameras positioned around Manhattan, as well as through word of mouth on the Internet.

Within a short period, widespread panic grips people across the globe.

It's worth mentioning that, even in the face of this extreme crisis, a team of fearless reporters continues broadcasting live.

Armed with cameras, they risk their lives to deliver real-time coverage via television and the Internet. Positioned at the highest vantage point outside Manhattan, they capture sweeping views of the battlefield from above.

Their professionalism is truly admirable.

However, no one pays attention to these courageous reporters themselves—everyone's focus is glued to the live footage.

This battle for New York—or more precisely, the battle for Manhattan—has captured the souls of hundreds of millions of people around the world.

Although only ten minutes have passed since the incident began, public opinion has already intensified the situation.

Aliens have invaded again!

Such shocking news spreads fear like wildfire.

Panic, as we all know, is an emotion that knows no boundaries.

Governments, the World Security Council, and countless other organizations immediately reach out to U.S. authorities, offering support.

Regardless of their motives, at this moment, people around the world are united in a shared sense of urgency.

But the U.S. authorities do not respond.

In the midst of this emergency, the U.S. military can only focus on deploying its own forces to Manhattan. There's no time to coordinate with outside help.

And even in such a critical situation, it's unthinkable for the U.S. to allow foreign troops to step onto its soil.

At worst, they'll launch a nuclear bomb.

Yes, the U.S. government is well aware of this contingency.

If the Justice League can no longer hold the line, they will immediately authorize a nuclear strike—obliterating all of Manhattan if necessary.

In short, Earth must not fall to the aliens.

The live footage has its limits.

The team of reporters, stationed at the highest point outside Manhattan, aim their cameras toward the skies above the city. They can only capture the aerial battle; the street-level combat remains obscured.

Of course, even with just images of the sky, the devastation is enough to send chills down the spines of viewers everywhere.

Everyone can see them—strange, grotesque aliens, flying on sleek aircraft, wreaking havoc across Manhattan without restraint.

But oddly enough, they don't seem eager to leave the city.

Some speculate that they're afraid of being ambushed.

The Chitauri have realized that any attempt to break out of Manhattan will be met with overwhelming resistance.

Even if they charge en masse, they cannot breach the enemy's defenses.

The opposing side boasts several individuals with extraordinary abilities—combatants who, by cosmic standards, rank among the elite.

These aren't just powerful fighters; they're the best of the best.

For the Chitauri, sheer numbers are their only advantage.

They can overwhelm and suppress the defenders through sheer force, but defeating—or even killing—them is another matter entirely.

And yet, despite their struggles, the Chitauri show no signs of panic.

Their troops are continuously pouring into the planet. With the number of soldiers they've dispatched this time, as long as all of them can enter Earth smoothly, it will be enough to crush the opposition.

Therefore, the Chitauri soldiers were in no hurry to engage in an all-out battle. Instead, they planned to delay the conflict until all their forces had arrived on Earth.

That would be the moment to claim victory.

Standing against them were the Justice League, the Special Forces, the lone remaining Captain America, and Thor—who, although not officially allied with the United States, had promised his cooperation. Even the officers of the New York Police Task Force joined the fight.

The situation was dire, and everyone knew it. No one was foolish enough to underestimate the current threat.

Although the arrival of reinforcements like the Hulk, Doctor Connors (a.k.a. the Lizard), the Fantastic Four, and the Green Goblin had managed to stabilize the situation somewhat, the enemy's numbers remained overwhelming—and they kept increasing.

If this continued for even another half-hour, there would be hundreds of thousands of Chitauri soldiers swarming the entire Manhattan area.

At that point, even with the full force of the U.S. military on-site, it would be nearly impossible to completely wipe out the invaders—

Unless nuclear weapons were used repeatedly.

If the situation grew that desperate, the Justice League's efforts would undoubtedly be considered a failure.

What's worse, no one knew whether a nuclear strike would even destroy the space portal.

If the portal remained intact, the Chitauri would continue pouring in. Earth would still be vulnerable.

With that gateway, this planet would gradually transform into a massive battlefield.

At that moment, a group of heroes gathered, facing the Chitauri soldiers who filled the sky in dense formations alongside several massive bio-warships.

It was clear the Chitauri intended to overwhelm them with sheer numbers—a brutal war of attrition.

"As for the space gate," Green Arrow said calmly, exchanging information with the others, though most of the conversation was him providing updates.

"Batman is on it."

His voice was steady, but his eyes darted toward Stark Tower in the distance, locking onto the penthouse.

"The space gate is protected by a special energy field," Arrow continued. "It's powered by the Tesseract, and this energy is incredibly strong. The barrier it creates is impenetrable—nothing can break through it. Not even a nuclear bomb."

Captain America's face darkened.

"Then what do we do? If we can't close the portal, the whole world will be at war."

"Don't worry," Arrow replied with a confident smile.

"Batman has a plan."

As he spoke, something caught his attention. He tilted his head slightly, eyes narrowing as he focused on Stark Tower.

"Look!"

At his shout, everyone—Captain America, Thor, members of the Special Forces, the Fantastic Four, Dr. Connors, the Hulk, and more—snapped their heads toward the tower.

Whoosh!

A figure shot out of the penthouse, soaring through the sky.

"Loki!" Thor growled, his brow furrowing in anger. He tightened his grip on Mjolnir and blasted off the ground in a burst of lightning and wind.

With a thunderous crack, Thor collided with Loki mid-air, seizing him with one hand.

At the same time, Wonder Woman leapt from the penthouse, pursuing Loki with fierce determination.

However, the others' attention quickly shifted—not to Loki or Wonder Woman, but to another figure emerging from the tower.

It was the person Green Arrow had been referring to—the one with a plan to close the portal and stop the Chitauri invasion:

Batman.

"See?" Arrow smirked.

"I told you he had a plan."

He wasn't just guessing. Sharing Anton's memories, Arrow knew exactly what Batman had done—he'd managed to snatch the scepter from Loki.

With the combined power of the scepter and the Tesseract, Batman could pierce the protective energy field, destroy the device amplifying the Tesseract's power, and shut the portal for good.

Arrow turned to his companions, his grin widening.

"Everyone," he said confidently,

"the biggest problem is solved."

He nocked an arrow, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.

"Now—

it's time to close the door and hit the dog."
