Chapter 170: Greed's...Jealous?
A coolness that bore half a winter caved into Rosana's stomach, as her throat tightened against a vomiting sensation.
Her boots grated on the ice; her ruby gaze squinting desperately as her right ankle sprang back-
Before her arm swung at the ice orb.
Her palm then ground against the ice orb; the ice crept back to her stomach and hand again, yet her heat returned with an equal temper.
Gritting her teeth, her frosty hand soon submerged into the ice orb; faint traces of smoke oozing as heat collided against cold-
BOOM!
An explosion occurred; dust was kicked up before it was swung away.
Mel's pink hair fluttered at the gust from the impact of the swing; her hands tugging them away from her worried gaze.
The smoke soon revealed to Mel Rosana's visage, her grin exposing her white teeth, and she glared at Lila with delight.
Glacier covered from her right hand to her arm, literal ice slipping away from her hasty breaths, as her lips quivered in dryness from the orb's explosion.
Her stomach was in a worse condition; sharp, splintered ice covered from her chest to her tummy, her stomach quivering visibly in an unnerving manner.
Yet as if possessed, she merely straightened herself, drawing back her crazed eyes-
And moved forward, as if completely possessed.
She dragged her heavy steps, each shivering breath threatening to steal the panicking pants from Mel.
Smokes continued to seethe out from the tears of her dress; a silent requiem for a berserk, raging bull.
Yet at this sight, Mel's golden eyes merely grew firm.
"Rosana."
Her calm voice echoed through the room before drawing Rosana's gaze.
The Heiress's face strained; don't take pity on her, that expression said. It's not her loss yet.
"It's enough."
Ignoring this, Mel merely smiled. "It's your loss, dummy."
A silly name, 'dummy'; only an unprompted yet cute fool would ever call the Northern Duchess a 'Dummy'.
Rosana's glare then softened; bloodlust seeping out as her blood vessel no longer screamed to fight her surroundings.
The smokes gradually ceased seething into a hum, before completely fading to reveal only black spots from her skin.
A flicker of clarity returned to Rosana as she took a deep, deep breath.
"...it's my loss."
Her grin broke apart into a small smile for the indifferent Lila. "You seem to have grown much more than I... anticipated."
That orb just now. Rosana has miscalculated.
The Heiress predicted it would have drawn the same result as a few days ago, albeit slightly more painful with Lila's newfound strength.
However.
"That was Expert Level, wasn't it?"
Mel scratched her cheek, as Rosana cast a knowing glance at both Lila and Mel.
The time with the Soldiers indicated this; when one's <Witch Form> was awakened, her <Human Form> would gain Ability and Stats in relation to the <Awakening>.
The ascension from Adept to Expert Rank, paired with her Acquisition of <Frozen Series>, was the result for Lila.
"Yeah."
Lila sighed, pettily preventing Mel from answering it for her.
"What a shame." Rosana shrugged. "To think I'd have a day in underestimating you. Perhaps I've called you a little puppy for too long."
"No question for me?" Lila scoffed. "Normally, one would need more practice and learning to ascend."
"There's no shame. Talent in growth was also a weapon in itself."
Then Rosana held her chin, contemplating.
Yet her brows raised in amusement, teasing and interest in her further challenge.
"Give me... yes, perhaps a month or two."
Rosana's arms drew to her back, fingers mixing together as she stared at Mel instead.
"I promise I'd ascend to Master Rank in no time."
"Hmph!"
Yet Lila huffed, unsatisfied at Rosana's smugness.
The Witch of Envy, however, merely turned her steps and strode to the stairs.
"Hm?" Rosana raised a brow. "Where're you going?"
"Back to Lectures." Lila waved. "My Ascension grew through trials of new spells and knowledge, so having Professors teach me is more preferable."
"Oh?" Rosana hummed with a teasing smirk. "It's bold of you to leave me and my prey in one room. You do know I've also no shame in stealing, right?"
Then, Lila stopped in her steps before sweeping over the battlefield.
The aftermath turned half its wooden ground into a frosted wasteland, yet Mel stood quietly within this chaos.
Her golden eyes swept over the new 'ice playground' with curiosity, before meeting Lila's eyes.
A faint blush crept up in Mel's cheeks before she gave a thumbs-up to Lila.
Good job. She then mouthed.
And all of Lila's worries, thus, dissipated into a smile.
"You can try."
Lila muttered, her eyes narrowing with a mocking glint against the intrigued Rosana.
"Though do remember." Lila stepped away. "It's not me running away, but it's just my permission to allow you and Mel together."
She descended the stairs, her back sinking downwards as she waved over her shoulder.
"Please take care of my Mel well, loser."
A breath hitched in Mel, her cute Lila taunting! May she be heard, taunting!
Her arms folded inward, as she fidgeted in an uncontrollable bliss; this confident Lila awakened something within Mel.
And she was so fully readied to admit it! Within their next bedtime, of course!
"Hey, Rosana, Rosana!"
She swung her glimmering gaze to the half-frozen Heiress. "How do you think? My Lila was cute, right?"
Mel's innocence briefly shook Rosana, her daze faltering as her concentration loosened to conjure heat at her skin.
With a sigh, Rosana melted away the ice at her skin before staring at Mel.
The pink-haired seducer was so excited that she could see puppy ears and a flailing tail right behind her.
The Heiress covered her lips at this image, and then her ruby eyes darkened upon this realization.
My Mel.
My Lila.
"Hm...."
And that brief hesitation snapped Mel out of her exhilaration, as she observed how Rosana clutched her heart.
Ah, the classic 'skip-a-beat, but confused' moment!
So this time, it was Mel's lips that broke into a foxy, broad smile.
Ah-ah. Was the Heiress possibly jealous? That Heiress?
