DANMACHI: The Silence's Heir (OC x Freya)

Chapter 27: Chapter 28-The Games Begin!

Chapter 27

GOJOUNO KAGUYA

Kaguya sat watching Alise and the Hestia familia sitting there napping half drunk, as the night dawned. And seeing their drunk faces and the bottles of empty ale and booze all along the floor was warning enough of the hangover all of them were going to suffer in the morning.

It was the reason she herself refrained from drinking, apart from her usual averseness to anything that may mess with her decision-making ability. She liked to remain sober, and she was not the only one as she looked at the elf beside her.

"It is a real shame that you could not join Inumaki-sama on the expedition?" she said, and Ryuu nodded.

"Indeed, I had hoped to see it all to the end myself, and yet I could not. Now, I must leave it all to him once more. It just does not sit right with me." That was true. They all had burdened him with too much already, too much.

It was time enough that they began to pull their own weight, but for that to happen, they needed to progress. And for that, they needed to join a new familia, and though nothing was certain yet all of them had recently had sat down to talk about it.

In the end, the only viable option was for the goddess to slumber in Alise's arms.

"What do you think of Alise's opinion?" she asked, Ryuu, who perked up at her question and turned her gaze in the same direction as her.

"It has merits," she answered, even as her fits balled up.

"But honestly, it doesn't sit right with me," Ryuu added, and she could see it. Afterall, Ryuu was the most stubborn of them, even though Kaguya's own thoughts on the matter were much different.

"What do you think?" she asked her and Kaguya's lips thinned as she looked to the ceiling and gave her own answer.

"Truth is, I still care for Astarea-sama, but there is something I care about even more, someone who has been carrying our burden for far too long," she answered as she thought of everything Inumaki-sama had done for them.

"And though it would pain me to lose the memento I carry on my back, I believe it is time for us to move on," and it was Alise's thinking as well as Lyra's.

It was why they had thought to ask Hestia-sama if they could join her familia as soon as Inumaki-sama returned from the expedition.

Moreover, the said Goddess reminded them all of Astarea-sama, and though she lacked much of the conviction and judicial qualities of her, Hestia-sama carried an equally well-intentioned and kind heart, making it much easier for her to support her.

"That is why..." and suddenly she stopped as her eyes narrowed, as she saw the ceiling crack.

BOOOM!

"Alise! Ryuuu!" she screamed as she reached for her sword and swung it out in a single swift motion.

"Issen!" she screamed as she cut through the air, and found herself right beside the slumbering form of the Goddess of the heareth, as she blocked the swing of an axe from a fully armored adventurer.

CLANK!

And her blade shook in her hand as she fell to her knees and got a good look at the behemoth of an adventurer who was attacking them, and her eyes widened as she recognized her.

"Phryne Jamil," she gasped and saw those eyes widen as she parried the attack and pushed her back as Alise tried to join in the attack.

"Huh! What?" the Goddess finally woke up and looked around in perplexity as Kaguya felt many adventurers surround them.

"What is the meaning of this, Ishtar familia?" Alise asked as she pushed herself forward, as the captain of the said familia smiled.

"What did you think would happen after you and that accursed Silent destroyed our little operation in Melen," Phryne Jamil answered as all four of them gathered around Hestia-sama.

"It is time for retribution. Your time is over, Astarea-familia, though don't worry. That little Silent of yours would be joining you soon enough," and with that, the woman closed her visor as she jumped forward, as Alise and her jumped forward to face her.

"Ryuu! Take care of Hestia-sama, and evacuate to the Guild building," Kaguya shouted, because with the expedition, the number of High ranking adventurer in the city who could stop Ishtar familia was low, and they could not rely on help.

"GUGH!" but before she could say anything else, both Alise and she were thrown back, with a single swing of man-eaters halberd, as they coughed up blood while their bodies seared in pain.

"That is not a Level 5's strength," Alise gasped, as she rubbed her face and looked up and Kaguya agreed with her, and her eyes widened as the whole building was rocked by the scream of a very familiar person.

"AHHHHHH!" and a chill ran down her spine as they both recognized that voice.

"Ryuuu!" she gasped as Phryne Jamil smiled.

"You have no idea just how many enemies you have, Astarea-familia...."

And in the main Hall, a bleeding Ryuu Leon found herself cradling a bleeding arm as she stood face to face with a spear wielder with shining red eyes.

"And where do you think you are going, Gale Wind?" came the question as she pushed herself between Hestia-sama and the spear-wielding intruder.

"Who are you?"

"I am Dix Perdix...."

RYUU LEON

"AGHHH!" Ryuu Leon screamed in pain as she failed to parry the spear from her opponent once more and let it tear through the skin of her arm as she jumped back, trying to put distance between them.

DRIP. DRIP.

Blood dripped from her arm, which now lay uselessly limp by her side as she held her sword with her right arm, huffing worriedly as she saw her opponent smile widely.

"I had heard such great things about the demon Gale Wind, but I must say I am rather disappointed," he added as those eyes gleamed in the dark, and she gritted her teeth.

"You are just a scared elf," and loathed as she was to admit it, he was stronger than her. She was a Level 4, and from what she could gleam, he was Level 5, and that was a huge issue.

She needed a breakthrough. One breakthrough.

"Heal," she chanted as she tried to heal her wounds and yet was surprised that despite the green hue covering her body, the spell did not work.

"Heal," she tried again, and yet to no avail, as she found herself perplexed by the scene.

"Hahaha, you see this a little specialty of mine," he said as he stuck out of his tongue and spun his spear.

"You see, this spear is just as special as that Silent's Gae Bolg; it makes healing spells kind of useless," and her eyes widened at that.

"Why are you doing this? Who even are you, and what do you have against me?" she shouted, and the man smiled.

"Ohh, I don't have anything against you, my dear," he commented.

"I just want to teach that bastard a lesson, to not mess with things he does not understand," and in the blink of an eye, he was infront of her, and as she tried to put up her blade, she was too late as he punched her in the gut.

"ARGH!" she grunted as her body flew back and hit the wall.

BOOOOM!

"GUGH!" she coughed up blood, and before she could react, the man was infront of her once again, holding her up by her hair, and saw him look into her eyes.

"It is over," and she saw him thrust forward that spear as a massive scream rocked the area.

"NOOOO!" Bell Cranel screamed as he lay helpless along a wall, as Ryuu felt her heart tighten in helplessness, and as she prepared herself for the pain to come, it did not.

CLANG!

Though surprisingly she found her body fall, as she saw her opponent jump back as a person appeared infront of her.

"Kaguyaa," she gasped as she saw the bloodied form of her friend standing there infront of her, wielding her katana with her sole arm, as she pushed herself between her and the man named Dix Perdix.

"Oh, and who do we have here?" the man taunted as she saw someone rush towards her and prop her up.

"Ryuu-san, Ryuu-san," and it was Hestia-sama who had come to help her, as the said goddess reached into her pocket, took out a healing potion, and emptied it onto her.

And though her wounds did not heal, she felt herself getting a little better.

"My name is Gojouno Kaguya, and I will not let you do any more harm," her friend said resolutely as Ryuu tried to push herself up.

"I have to help, he is too strong," she said and yet she was stopped by Hestia-sama.

"No, I don't need your help," Kaguya spoke as she turned towards her.

"You need to go to the dungeon. We are all surrounded, and even with everything, we cannot hold them off for long. We need him back. We need Inumaki-sama," she said as Ryuu's eyes widened.

"But he is a Level 5. You cannot face him alone. And what about Alise and the res..."

"You need not worry about me, Alise, and the rest," Kaguya answered resolutely as she suddenly blurred and appeared right behind the man named Dix Perdix, whose eyes widened in surprise at Kaguya's move.

"Iai no Tachi..."

"...Gokou!" Her eyes widened as she slashed her blade. In an instant, the man was thrown into the wall, and she could not believe her eyes as she saw Kaguya accomplish what she had failed to do for hours.

"That move, that speed," she gasped as the realization dawned on her, and as she turned towards the Goddess in question, she nodded.

"Your guess is right, Kaguya, Alise, and Lyra. All of them are now...."

"...ranked up," the answer came from the man who pushed himself out of the rubble as he wiped blood from his face.

"This night just became a lot more fun..." then she saw him rush towards herself when suddenly Kaguya intervened cutting him halfway, as she parried his strike once more and began to engage him in a fight as Hestia-sama called out her name.

"I know that this is not the right time to ask this of you, but there is no other choice. If you wish, I can do for you what I did for Alise, Kaguya, and Lyra," she offered. Her eyes widened at the offer, and her fists balled up. She looked up and saw Kaguya holding off Dix Perdix. Behind her, she saw Alise and Lyra fighting tooth and nail against the armoured Phryne Jamil. She knew that she had to do something.

She had to.

She could no longer wallow in self-pity.

Despite their rank up, she could see that they were barely holding on. If her senses were right, they were surrounded by enemies on all sides, cutting off their escape routes.

"Do it..." she said as she turned her back towards the Goddess, who nodded resolutely.

And outside the building, Aisha Belka watched alongside the rest of her familia members as they waited to ambush anyone trying to escape when suddenly a massive explosion cut through the wall of the decrepit mansion as she readied herself or combat.

"Everyone get ready," she roared as a sole figure jumped out of the cloud of smoke, and she stilled as she heard that chant.

"LUVIA!" With those words, she watched as hundreds and hundreds of green orbs appeared out of thin air behind her as she screamed.

"INCOMING!"

"GALE WINDDDD!" and they all roared forth at those words coming after all of them gathered here, and though she could take it on without much worry, her eyes widened as she saw one of those magical attacks rushing towards the cloaked figure in the back.

"SHIT! HARUHI!" she screamed as she jumped in, trying to defend herself, and yet she could not bring up the blade in time and was hit by the attack.

BOOOOM!

"AGHH!" she screamed in pain as she saw the shadowed figure vanish, as she blurred through their familia members, and rushed towards the Guild Building, and as Aisha fell to her knees, she roared at the few who still remained standing in desperation.

"After her!"

"FIRE BOLTTTT!"
