Chapter 33: The expedition begins

Finn's office.

It was a room that Finn usually worked in; signing various important documents, or organizing things at Familia.

And right now, Finn, sat behind the desk while wearing a serious expression.

In front of him, sat Kelvin who was looking at Finn calmly.

"So, I can join the next expedition, right?" asked Kelvin, with a small smile forming at the corner of his lips.

"Hmm, how should I say it, huh ...." said Finn hesitantly.

"What? But weren't you the one who said I could join the expedition when I level up?"

Kelvin felt unacceptable with Finn's response.

"It's true, it's just that I'm not sure about putting you with the other executive members." Finn said while closing his eyes, a few seconds later, he opened his eyes again, looking at Kelvin, "But, if you want to join, you can join the team led by Raul. How about it?"

The reason why Finn couldn't let Kelvin join the main squad was because of his lack of experience and cooperation in real combat.

In fact, although Kelvin might be strong and talented, but he had never fought alongside other Family members, except for Lefiya.

With that in mind, it would be difficult if Kelvin fought with executive members on one team. Moreover, Kelvin was also still level 2, which made him unsuitable to fight with executive members who were completely filled with first-class Adventurers.

That way, the second team led by Raul, contained second-class and third-class Adventurers, which Kelvin would later be placed with them.

Although, this did not apply to Lefiya, who was a second-class adventurer, but she joined the other executive members.

Well, naturally, after all Lefiya was a genius mage, whose magic allowed her to use all Elven magic as long as she knew the spells and the resulting effects.

"Hmm, alright." Kelvin nodded, "After all, the most important thing is that I can join the expedition, right?"

For Kelvin, the upcoming expedition was very important. Not only because he could descend to deeper floors, but also because he could earn a lot of excelia beyond what he could collect every day.

Fighting stronger Monsters, exploring places he had never been to, then becoming stronger in the process.

Just thinking about it made Kelvin very excited!

"Haha! Unlike the others, you seem to be eager to join the expedition."

"Of course I am. After all, by joining the expedition, I can go down to a deeper floor. And that means I can fight stronger monsters!"

"As expected of you, yes. You really like fighting, Kelvin." Finn sighed as he heard Kelvin's answer.

"You could say fighting is a part of my life." Kelvin said with a grin.

Finn had realized this a long time ago. Kelvin's love for fighting, as well as his ambition to become the strongest, was completely different from what was expected.

Finn, as a Pallum, had lived long enough to know many people in his journey. And in his opinion, there was no one like Kelvin that he had met so far.

There may be some people who like to fight and want to be the strongest. But, when they are faced with a life and death situation, they will become desperate and simply give up on their lives.

But, Kelvin was different.

He smiled at death itself, he resolutely stood on the brink of death, he relished the thrill of fighting with life and death at stake.

He is an anomaly in this world.

*****

A few weeks later.

In front of Twilight Manor.

The atmosphere was very lively at this time, especially since most of the Familia members would be going on an expedition. Only a few of the weaker members stayed behind.

Even so, no one said anything. After all, they knew their own strength, and walking on the inner floor had certainly never been imagined in their minds before.

The risk was too great to bear, especially since they were only low-class adventurers, whose strength was not much lower than ordinary humans without Falna.

As usual, they would be divided into two teams; the first team would consist of executive members-Finn, Riveria, Gareth, Bete, Ais, Tiona and Tione, with one exception, Lefiya. The second team, meanwhile, was led by Raul, Aki, Alicia, Line, and a few others including Kelvin himself.

While the three executives were discussing something about the expedition this time with their Goddess, Loki, Kelvin on the other hand experienced something troublesome.

"Kelvin-sama! Can I really not go with you?!"

Sylpha, today came earlier than usual, and when she found out that Kelvin was going on the expedition, she started sulking and asking to go too.

In fact, Kelvin had said to leave her alone during the expedition, but Sylpha seemed to be too clingy these days..., and that was the thing that made Kelvin a little troubled.

"I told you, Sylpha. You can't go. If you go, it will be too easy."

Sylpha's strength was undoubtedly very strong. Even if she wanted to, Sylpha could have rivaled Ais in terms of sword skills and strength alone.

"B-But..., but...."

Sylpha felt she had to go. Moreover, she couldn't bear to let Kelvin be in the dungeon alone. Moreover, Loki Familia intended to go to an even deeper floor, which they had never explored.

Because of this, to ensure Kelvin's safety, Sylpha intended to follow them. But, Kelvin refused firmly.

Not only because Sylpha's interference would disrupt their expedition, but also because Sylpha was from a different Family.

It was fine if she formed a Party with Kelvin outside of the expedition, but during the expedition, it was impossible for Sylpha to join them.

After all, this was related to the internal matters of the Familia.

In the end, Sylpha was left alone, while Kelvin, along with the other Loki Families, headed for the Dungeon.

*****

The formation was simple, the first group would go first and clear the area around the floor, and a while later the second group would follow.

Then, why didn't they go together?

Well, it was because it was to prevent the birth of a large number of monsters.

The dungeon was alive, and if the dungeon noticed the movement of many people on a floor, it might give birth to many monsters on that floor, which would not be pleasant.

In addition, the second group, which consists of level 4 and below adventurers, generally does not have much experience fighting with stronger monsters.

Furthermore, the second group mostly carried logistical supplies; such as food and weapons, so it was inefficient to combine them with the main army.

That was part of the reason why they were separated into two teams. It was for the safety of all members and for the best results.

Even so, that didn't mean that the second group consisted of only weak people. Because, there were always members who had enough to join the first group, but were still assigned to the second group to lead them.

For example, ....

"Raul! Watch the right side!"

"Understood!"

Anakitty, or more commonly called Aki, teamed up with Raul, leading the second group and paving the way for the weaker members and the logistics section.

In addition ....

Slash—!!

Kelvin, moving extremely fast, raised his Scythe and finished off every monster he encountered.

His speed was impressive, making most members who saw him fight have stars in their eyes.

How could it not be. Kelvin was a new member, but his strength could not be underestimated.

On top of that, he was the latest record breaker, who could level up in just one month.

It was all impressive, and everyone was envious of his achievements. The good news was, Kelvin was part of them, so that naturally raised their Family's reputation even higher.

"Well, as expected of you, Kelvin. You've become very strong." Raul said as he smiled at him.

"Right, Nya~ I didn't think you'd be that strong, Nya~" Aki, on the other hand also looked at Kelvin with admiration.

"This is just the beginning. After all, there are more dishes already served for us." Kelvin said with a mysterious smile.

Raul and Aki stared at each other in confusion, they didn't understand the meaning of Kelvin's words.

Only after a while, they blinked their eyes together, staring at a certain angle and their lips twitched right then and there.

50th Floor.

All the members of Familia were now gathered together, resting and recharging their energy with food.

In this area, they then set up a temporary campsite.

The 50th floor was relatively safe, especially since no monsters had appeared on this floor, making it suitable for resting and temporary camping.

On this expedition, they had defeated many monsters in particular, including the Monster Rex. Unfortunately, they didn't find the 49th floor's Monster Rex, Balor, which made it quite boring. Kelvin thought.

Even so, they moved quickly and joined the 50th floor, setting up tents and resting temporarily on this floor before continuing their expedition.

"I would like to thank and congratulate you guys for working so hard in Moytura. Thanks to everyone's strength and cooperation, we made it to the 50th floor. Allow me to commend you all on your good performance." Finn said with a smile, as he looked at them all with a sense of satisfaction.

"The 49th floor is always wild!"

"Luckily, Balor didn't show up this time."

"Things got easier, didn't they~"

"Anyway, it's worth celebrating! We may not have wine, but we have plenty of meat to roast!"

"Let's make a toast!"

The chatter broke out after Finn delivered his speech. And the Amazon sisters naturally roasted some meat to eat.

A large cauldron was placed in the center of her campsite, while every adventurer in their group had gathered around it.

Inside the cauldron was a broth made from various spices that could be collected from within the Dungeon, and there was also a type of fruit that had a similar taste and texture as meat.

Those two ingredients were usually the food that the Dungeon provided for the monsters within, but they were still suitable for human consumption and perfect for a long journey like this.

Normally, adventurers were forced to live on a limited, bland ration brought from the surface.

Having this much food at once was a treat for everyone involved.

This was all part of Finn's plan-who had carefully left room left over from their supplies.

And now all the adventurers under his command could enjoy flavors that couldn't be found anywhere else.

"Um, Ais-san. Are you sure you won't eat?" Lefiya asked hesitantly. In her hand, the Elf girl was holding a bowl of meatless soup that was still hot.

"No, I'm fine." Ais shook her head.

Although her stomach felt quite hungry, but Ais felt that a small change in diet would have a negative impact on the upcoming battle.

Thus, Ais wanted to avoid eating too much which made her performance suffer during the fight. Thus, she refused the food offered to her earlier.

"What's with that attitude? I can hear the sound of your stomach from here. Come on, take this and eat it."

Just as Lefiya was about to say something more, Tiona came over with another bowl of soup and handed it to Ais.

The overwhelming aroma of the soup drifted into her nose, making the blonde-haired girl stare at the bowl Tiona was holding with an interested gaze.

Even so, Ais still stood firm on her stance, and refused Tiona's gift.

Even so, Tiona seemed persistent in getting Ais to eat the soup she brought. She didn't give up even though Ais refused her offer several times.

Until finally, her sister, Tione, came over and hit the back of her head.

"Ouch! What are you doing, Tione?!"

"Don't bother Ais. She doesn't want to, you don't need to force her."

"But that doesn't mean you can hit my head!"

The two sisters started bickering with each other, and Ais naturally ignored them and left from there, followed by Lefiya.
