Chapter 171: Card Magic!
"Miss Nijicaiji Sumire, do you have a place to stay after you're discharged from the hospital? Do you want to come to the Sakurasou Dormitory?" Renji asked with a concerned tone.
Sumireko Sanshikiin immediately pouted and glared at him. "Pansy and I are living together!" Why is this guy in such a hurry? Even if he wants to 'make a move' on Pansy, at least let her adapt to life after recovery first.
"Alright then. The Sakurasou Dormitory welcomes you anytime," Renji said, backing down.
Nijicaiji Sumire held back her laughter. "Don't call me Miss Nijicaiji Sumire, Renji. You're Sumireko's and my benefactor. Just call me Pansy like her."
"Alright, then I'll call you Pansy," Renji replied, choosing a more familiar name.
When Nijicaiji Sumire heard him actually call her Pansy, her cheeks flushed. She whispered into Sumireko's ear, "Is your boyfriend always so shameless? Even though I gave him permission, it's still embarrassing."
Sumireko smiled mischievously. "He's bold. Honesty is the best, isn't it?"
"True. A man full of lies is the worst."
Under the reluctant gaze of the doctor, Renji quickly took the two girls out of the hospital. He wouldn't let Nijicaiji Sumire stay any longer. Who would want to be studied as a special case? Renji saw them to the door of Sumireko's house before returning to the Sakurasou Dormitory.
In Sumireko's room, Nijicaiji Sumire went into the bathroom and came out in a pair of Sumireko's pajamas. Sumireko gently took her hand and they sat on the sofa together.
"Pansy, don't worry about anything. Just stay here peacefully."
Nijicaiji Sumire sighed. "Sumireko, thank you."
She remembered the car accident that left her in a coma. Her parents had passed away, and she was now an orphan with nowhere to go. Unfortunately, no relatives or friends cared for a vegetative person like her. The money from the driver was used for medical expenses and there was nothing left. All this time, Sumireko had been bearing her medical costs. Sumireko didn't hesitate for a moment because Pansy got into the accident while saving her. If Pansy hadn't pushed her away, Sumireko might have been in her position.
Seeing Sumireko's worried eyes, Nijicaiji Sumire felt her heart warm. "Silly girl, thank you for your concern, but you don't have to worry about me. I still have a little money that I haven't used. Besides, have you forgotten who taught you how to dress up? I'm your onee-san!"
"Good. If you need anything, you must tell me. Renji and I will help you," Sumireko said seriously.
Nijicaiji Sumire nodded gently. "I know. You're my only friend now. I definitely won't hide any problems. But give me a few days off. I also want to get back to school as soon as possible."
Renji returned to the Sakurasou Dormitory. "Renji, come here," a white-haired elf girl with two pigtails called out.
"What is it, Frieren?" Renji followed her to a room on the third floor.
Frieren smiled and summoned her staff. A magic circle suddenly appeared in the air. As the magical power flowed, ancient magical words condensed in the void. She then threw a few cards and injected magical power.
"Here, this is the result of studying that magic book, card magic! It's amazing. After learning this magic, you can create cards out of thin air and seal specific spells in them. When you want to use it, just throw it."
"There are active and passive types. The card I gave you is a protective card that will release a shield spell. You have a lot of people you want to protect, right? Give these cards to them and tell them to carry them."
Hearing this, Renji's eyes lit up. He was afraid that if the system didn't issue a rescue task in time, or if he couldn't come. With these protective cards, the girls would have an extra shield. The safety factor increased.
"Then I'll accept them. If you can, please make more!"
"Of course!" Frieren agreed.
Renji suddenly hugged her. Frieren was surprised.
"Ah! Renji, what are you doing?"
"I just want to hug you, Frieren. Thank you so much! And, thanks to your healing potion, Sumireko's friend has woken up."
Frieren suppressed the thumping in her heart and said with a flushed face, "It's good that she's recovered. It wouldn't have mattered if she didn't. I also know healing magic."
"Yes, if I need it, I'll beg you." Renji stroked her white hair. Frieren's face was a little hot.
Elves were usually cold and indifferent to feelings. Her teacher was the same. But Renji was a scoundrel. He hugged her so boldly and intimately. Frieren could feel his warm breath and strong heartbeat. Being treated so intimately, even though she was a cold-hearted elf, she felt a little touched. Throughout her hundreds of years of magical career, no man had been as bold as Renji to get close to her and want to take care of her.
Renji deliberately hugged her. There was gratitude in his heart, but he also just wanted to hug Frieren. They had had physical contact before, and Renji felt that occasional closeness could enhance feelings.
Of course, Renji didn't go overboard. After hugging her for about a minute, he let go. Frieren was a powerful elf mage. If he angered her, he could die. Just go slowly, and try to gain her trust.
