Chapter 63: The Fairy Kingdom
'Is this the potion he used on Zara? But how did he get it? This is a rare potion, not available to any. And there are no known potion grandmasters in the Academy.' Kate thought. Her eyes darted around the bookshelf she was standing on, 'Maybe there's another answer.' She thought and kept looking. After searching for a long time, she wasn't able to find anything else.
As the sunlight vanished through the glass windows, the library turned darker and gloomier. The lamps burning under the glass only lit it up with a dim light. The shadows turned more prominent. A sigh escaped from Kate's mouth as she exited the library and strolled aimlessly in the corridor. 'How could I save Zara? I know she is in danger and Aslan is planning something.' Her eyes glimmered in the dark as she found herself standing before the Black faction dorm.
Her eyes widened, and she examined the Black faction dorm gate. Her eyes shifted to the Moon standing at the top. A smirk appeared on her face. She shook her head and thought, 'I could enter the dorm, but that would lead to suspicions. And don't want that.'
Creakkkkkk!
Suddenly, the gate opened and Luke came out yawning. "Because of that lazy bum, I missed lunch and breakfast." He grumbled under his breath. As he noticed Kate, His eyes widened and he froze.
"Luke, right? Can you call Victor for me?" Kate stepped closer and requested.
Luke came back to his senses and bobbed his head like a chicken. He ran back inside and swung open his room door.
"Victor!" he screamed from the door.
Victor groaned and looked through his groggy eyes. He replied in a sleepy voice, "Luke, I told you I'm not hungry."
"You!..." Luke stopped himself in mid-sentence. He took a deep breath and exhaled. Then he calmly replied, "Princess Kate Hyperion is standing for you at the Dorm gate."
Victor jumped out of his bed and looked at him with wide eyes. "What!?" he exclaimed. Luke leaned against the wall and started inspecting his nails, completely ignoring Victor.
"Ahh, Fuckkkk!" Victor clenched his fist and ran out of his room.
Kate glanced at the gate as it opened again and saw Victor with disheveled hair stepping out. Victor's scowling face changed into a smiling one as he saw Kate.
"Were you sleeping all day?" Kate questioned, squinting her eyes.
Victor stopped midway and scratched his head awkwardly. "It was the weekend I needed to rest as much as I could." He replied with a wide smile.
Kate sighed and muttered, "Your friend was right, you are a lazy bum."
"What?" Victor stepped closer and asked in confusion.
"Anyway, do you know about Zara?" Kate inquired.
Victor's face turned sour. "What should I know about her?" He mumbled.
Kate stepped closer and whispered, nodding, "So, you do know about her. Do you know that she has suddenly changed, and it's not normal?"
Victor frowned and glared at Kate, "No, I have known her since we were little, she hasn't changed, that's her true nature."
Kate shook her head and growled, "No, that's not her true nature. Even though you knew her long before me, I know her better than you. And that's not her normal behavior."
Victor glanced around the corridor and asked, "What are you trying to say, Kate?"
"Aslan did something to her, and she has changed. I know about a potion that could cause it, but I need your help to unravel his plans." Kate whispered.
Victor exhaled, his shoulders relaxed, and he muttered, " Okay, I'll keep an eye on the two."
"Thanks." Kate smiled, looking into his eyes. She turned and walked toward her dorm room. He kept looking at her back until she completely vanished from his vision.
He walked away from his dorm room and entered the secret room. He glanced at the fairy and muttered, "Hello, we meet again." He smiled and looked around the small room. He spotted dust-covered shelves in the corner of the room. He stepped toward it and looked through the books.
"Let's clean them." He muttered. He took out his old shirt and started cleaning. There were four wooden shelves, covered in dust and cobwebs. Every rack was stacked with books. As he went through the books one by one, he found many strange books. In the past, he used to love reading. He considered books to be the only friends he could trust. Ever since he understood things. People made him feel inferior. He was considered an insect, trampled by everyone until he was blessed with the System.
But instead of a blessing, it proved to be a curse. He was cursed to live like a monster. He was damned to live in the eternal darkness. He wasn't complaining, no. He knew the world better than anyone and understood people better. But he felt alone.
When an accident happened and Kate turned out to be his companion. He felt overjoyed. He thought he had finally found a partner, a soulmate, but his dreams got shattered before even surfacing on his tongue. Kate yearned for freedom, and she wanted to explore the world. She felt similar to him, but her thirst for freedom was immense.
What did he do? He decided to break her free. Again, he felt that the world had never changed, only he. His eyes drifted toward a strange book with a green, faded cover and a title written in silver writing.
"Extinction of Fairies." By Fey.
Victor's eyes widened, he took the book and walked toward the sofa. He opened the cover and turned the page of the book. It shimmered under the light, and letters appeared on it.
"Welcome, traveler from the future. My name is Fey, I'm here to tell you the story of Proud Fairies of the Neero world.'
Once upon a time, when Dragons used to fly in the sky, the peaceful Empire of fairies existed in harmony alongside the Elvian Empire. The Pari Empire was a dense forest, with trees protecting the beautiful fairies. In return, they made the trees stronger and taller. In the middle of the Pari Empire, a royal family of Fey lived. No one could trespass on the Empire, not even our cousin Elves.
But one day, a Human prince spotted a beautiful girl with shimmering wings like an angel bathing in a river outside the Empire. The devil of lust took over him, and he jumped over her. He forced himself on her. When he was done, he didn't let her go. He chained her and brought her back into the Human Empire. As people looked at the shame of the fairy, the devil of Lust and Greed rose in their hearts.
Every Human, like a Demon, attacked the peaceful Pari Empire. After decades of war and destruction, fairies became slaves of humans. The Pari Empire turned barren. No fairy and not even a shrub remained in it.
The First fairy that was captured by the prince was the Princess of the Fairy Kingdom. When she heard the condition of her brethren decades after serving the prince. She cried before the altar of The Fairy Godmother, but no answer came.
One night, she prayed for the preservation of her race or complete extinction. With every word of her prayer, she would cut her body. Her blood dripped and reached the feet of the Fairy Statue. The last word 'EXTINCTION' escaped from her mouth, and her breath stopped. The Fairy God finally answered her prayer, and every fairy vanished from the Neero world.
Writer Fey, I loathe humans.
