Chapter 48: Zara's Doubt
Creakkkk!
The door to the dorm room swung open. Luke walked in, dragging his feet and his back hunched forward.
"Ugh, I'm hungry. I wasn't able to eat with these weights," Luke grumbled
At that instant, a crimson flash of light appeared from Victor's bed, turning the whole room red. Luke flinched away. As the light faded after a few seconds, he stepped ahead and looked at the bed. His eyes widened, and his jaw dropped.
"Hey, Luke." Victor's hoarse voice came out.
Luke came back to his senses and examined Victor from head to toe. He exclaimed, "What happened to you?"
"Arghh, the punishment." He replied, looking at his naked and filth-covered body.
Luke narrowed his eyes at the answer and thought, 'Punishment, what kind? And why is he naked and covered in sand with a sticky black thing?'
Luke sighed and slumped on his bed. As he took a deep breath, the decaying smell hit his face like a brick. He stood up and ran out of the room.
"Cough, cough!" he retched, leaning over the wall. A few moments later, he calmed down and went back into the room.
"Victor! What the hell is this smell! Get the hell out of here!" He shouted at the top of his lungs, and his nose pinched between index and thumb. Victor grinned at Luke and got up from the bed. He left for the restroom.
"Ugh, I have to clean this." Luke groaned and opened his wooden shelf. He covered his face with a cloth and started cleaning. He removed the bedsheets and discarded them out of the window. His hands glowed, commanding the air, and it swirled in the whole room. It picked up the dust and dragged it outside.
Gradually, he turned the room spotless. With his command over the air, he exhausted every bit of it in cleaning the room. After he was done, he went back to the restroom to clean himself too. As he entered, he found Victor standing in the middle of it, completely clean and naked.
His eyes widened, and he screamed, "Victor!"
Victor turned toward Luke and smiled, "Ahh, Luke, do you have an extra uniform?"
Luke came out of his daze, and he sighed in defeat, "Don't you have any common sense?"
"Nah, I don't care about the trivial things." He replied with a smirk.
Luke clenched his fists and muttered under his breath, "He is getting on my nerves."
"Wait for me in the dorm, I'll give you the extra uniform," Luke replied with narrowed eyes.
"Okay, thanks." Victor turned and walked out whistling.
Luke entered his dorm room, and his eyes drifted toward the buck-naked Victor. He sighed and walked toward his shelf. He threw out the uniform to him and slumped back on his bed.
"Ahh, thanks, man." Victor stood up and put on the uniform right in front of him.
Luke turned away from him and closed his eyes. "Beast." He muttered to himself.
Victor heard and grinned at the remark. He wore black jeans and a black t-shirt with a still [Bronze rank] tag on it. He lay back on the bed and stared into space.
[Level11]
[10% immunity against the chaos aura]
'My level has increased after killing the two monsters, and I'm glad I encountered lower-level monsters. If I had encountered a higher or the chaos alien itself, I would have died for sure.'
'The Dozakh realm, where the Chaos aliens came from, is that another world? It has two Moons and a Sun too. The red sky. Why did the system send me there?' Victor sighed and closed his eyes. "I need to buy inventory." He whispered.
He opened the system panel and navigated to [Celestial Shop]. He clicked on [System accessory]. Under the bold tab of [INVENTORY], there were many options, with prices written beside them.
[Basic Inventory=5 slots]
[2000CP]
[Bronze rank Inventory=15 slots]
[4000CP]
[Iron rank Inventory=30 slots]
[8000CP]
"I have only enough CP to buy bronze rank." He thought of hand messaging his temple.
Ding!
[Bronze rank Inventory]
[Description: Every item with a weight of more than 5 pounds will occupy one slot. The weight limit of one slot is 100pounds.]
"That's amazing!" he shouted in excitement. He first put his twin storm, large-barreled colt, and they both occupied one slot. Luke got out of bed and stood beside Victor's. He didn't notice him.
"Victor, it's combat training time. Let's go." In a low voice, he informed Victor. Victor came out of his thoughts and glanced at him. Luke dragged his feet, followed by Victor, whose gate was relaxed.
In a weapon hall, all the cadets stood with hunched backs, and some lay on the floor. As Victor entered, his relaxed demeanor caught everyone's attention. Feena squinted her eyes and examined his bracelets. She could feel the strain they were causing in her muscles, but he was relaxed. It seemed like he had adapted to them. 'Why did he feel more mysterious than before when I didn't know about him?" Feena thought as she observed him.
Kate, beside Zara, smiled at him. Zara's eyebrows rose in curiosity because just yesterday Kate hated Victor, and now she smiled just looking at him.
"Kate, did something happen between you and Victor?" Zara asked with a neutral face.
Kate's eyes widened, and she turned toward Zara.
"No…Nothing happened between us. Wh…why do you ask?" Kate replied hesitantly, sweat beads rolling down from her forehead.
Zara's frown deepened. She glanced at Victor and then back at Kate. Kate fidgeted and screamed in her mind 'Did she find out?'
Zara shook her head and muttered, "It's impossible, I know Victor better than anyone."
After she convinced herself, she smiled at Kate and replied, "Nothing, I just felt you no longer hate Victor, right?"
"Yeah, I thought about it. My hate toward him was without any reason," Kate replied awkwardly, her eyes darting toward Victor.
Zara gave a nod with a smile. And replied, "I'm glad to hear that."
First Lieutenant Mona entered. She stood up on stage and scanned the hall. The noisy crowd turned silent, and everyone straightened. A smirk etched on her face, and she announced, "Today, you all will grab a sword and start swinging it. You will not stop until I say so."
Gasps and murmurs passed through the crowd.
"How could we do that? We are wearing the bracelets." One cadet shouted.
"Yes, he is right, we can't do that." Another chimed in.
Several dissatisfied voices reverberated in the weapons hall.
"QUIET!" A thunderous shout rumbled in the hall, silencing the crowd.
First Lieutenant gave a smug smile at the response and continued, "If you don't follow the orders, you'll be punished."
All the cadets grumbled, but everyone followed her command and moved toward the wall.
