Chapter 15: Tom and Jerry
Roar!
The great cat released a another powerful roar after taking several steps towards the running human in front of it. Its tentacles struck against the air once again and the piercing sounds they created each time this happened had occurred shortly after that.
Paw!
Paw!
This had caused Harry to shudder with fear because he knew the implications of these sounds. He tried his best to increase his pace slightly but his body was already at its limit and wasn't able to aggravate it.
'No! No! Move a little bit faster!', He had shouted in his head with his feet scraping against the grass on the surface of the ground again. Sharps edges of these grasses had severed several parts of his skin causing blood to drip out of the fresh wounds.
His arms swung effortlessly by his side at regular amplitudes as his body traveled throughout the forest without knowing where it was going to.
Harry thanked his lucky stars that his stamina hadn't bailed out on him at the moment. Though he knew that he had a lot of stamina, this kind of chase should have been enough to force him to drop down to the ground due to loss of air within his lungs.
To nullify the effect of this unprecedented situation, he had opened his mouth out wide to allow much oxygen to enter his body.
The tip of his sword brushed against the trail of grass by his side as he ran into the woods. This was the part of the grass which he hadn't trampled upon. The sharp edges of the the sword had slashed off parts of the vegetation causing its leaves to move effortlessly through the air due to how small they were.
Paw!
Paw!
Harry 's heat sunk deep into his chest when the same familiar but ominous sound had persisted in the air once again. This time though, Harry had taken everything into consideration, everything about the monster and wasn't ready to sneak a peek at the approaching terror.
He needed every ounce of strength and energy within his body in order to run away from this monstrosity. He had done his best to keep a stable distance between himself and the great cat but with the emergence of the piercing sound he knew that that achievement of his was going to be short lived.
The great cat was now few inches from grabbing him by the collar but it had decided not to do so. Even though this action of the monster was a blessing, it had increased the anxiety Harry had in his heart.
'I'm I going to die here?',he had asked with sweating gliding down his face. Dread had its chains wrapped around his neck at this moment and he was desperately trying to overcome it with all his might.
Paw!
Paw!
Boom!
He gritted his teeth as the sounds echoed throughout the day once again this time though his heartbeat had spiked up a little because of the third sound which had emanated after the preceding familiar ones. What could that have been, he wondered but no response had come from his head.
Boom!
Another similar sound came out not long after the preceding one and this explained vividly to him what had happened when the third sound had erupted. Staring ahead of him, all that he could now see was the grotesque figure of the great cat who stood silently with an ominous aura seeping out of its skin. Its menacing presence had caused Harry to stagger a little.
Its eyes darted from side to side as its tentacles lingered on closer to Harry who was fear stricken to the extent that he had even forgotten that he was running.
Shock and panic caused him to miss his footing and had skidded under the giant creature. Harry swallowed hard as he imagined the six huge legs of the cat bashing his skull to nothingness.
The thought had immediately caused him to point the sword out and stabbing the monster right in between its torso. The monster upon having taken a powerful hit had roared loudly causing the ground beneath its body to shake vigorously.
What had come as a surprise to him though was the fact that the sword although it was rusty, didn't stay stationary within the cat's torso and had continued to slice through its skin.
The monster sensed this incoming threat and had hopped from where it was, giving Harry a chance to recuperate and formulate new plans to kill it.
Though it had hopped away from where Harry was, its tentacles had tried their best to grab the sword out of his grasp but just like before Harry had stuck the sword up. This had caused them to latch onto the sharp edges of the its blade.
Thud!
The loud noise resonated into Harry's ears and he had turned his body to check what was happening at the moment. An unavoidable smile appeared on his face as he witnessed the monster wincing in pain after losing the padded tips of its tentacles.
Harry pointed the black sword at the great cat signifying his eminent advantage and impending victory over it. This act of his had agitated the monster a lot as it bore its yellowish teeth at him. They were razor sharp with several bits of animals it had eaten been stuck in them.
Green blood splattered out of its wounds when it had tried it best to bear its teeth at Harry. The predator had now turn prey within a matter of seconds.
Fwoosh!
Harry bolted towards the monster while swinging his sword from side to side with the intentions of ending the life of this creature for good.
The monster was no fool and had also realized the evil intentions its prey had towards it. It began to also move back a little on impulse while seizing Harry up with a hateful gaze.
Death was inevitable for both sides as they tried their best to take into consideration each other's slightest movements. None of them was ready to give up their life by making a silly mistake at the moment.
Roar!
It roared once again, releasing a powerful noise which had caused Harry to cover his ears on instinct because of how loud it was. He felt that if he hadn't done so he would have lost his sense of hearing. He had already lost his voice and wasn't ready to lose his hearing too.
The monster had noticed this movement of his and had decided to take advantage of the moment. It used it half slashed tentacles to hold him in place. Its main intention was to bite a huge chunk of flesh out of his body but the constant blood lose from its wounds had prevented it from doing so. Instead of doing what it had intended, it had flung Harry's body away.
Harry knew that the damage he was going to feel moments from now was going to take a lot out of him but he had a mental note of how important the sword in his hand was and had decided to hold it tightly. He had done so without caring about his own well-being.
Bang!
His body crushed into a nearby tree causing him to spit out a mouthful of blood from his mouth. The damage had made his mouth to hang lose as his vision blurred out for a while. Though the damage was much more than he had envisioned, he pushed through the pain and grasped his sword while pouncing out of harm's way as the monster approached with its head first. It had aimed to crush Harry's ribs with its head.
Boom!
Missing him by an inch, the sound erupted as splinters flew about the area. The monster landed on the grasses with its eyes darting about and green blood gushing out of it forehead.
Harry stared at it in horror as its blood splattered out its forehead like a fountain. Without waiting a second, he bolted towards the wounded cat with a sword in hand and a newer form of resolve.
'You're are all mine now!', he shouted in his head while brandishing his weapon at it.
