Chapter 409: Killing Without Killing
The soldiers were ready to hear Pablo's next command but they didn't know his next command would be:
"Fight."
Draxus, Flashy, Nike and Hena looked at each other as they had no information about this.
Draxus and Flashy might still be able to fight but Nike and Hena were strangers to such things. They were too busy finding food as slaves to learn how to fight.
Nevertheless, Pablo knew all this so no one was needed to tell him about the questions the soldiers had.
"There is no need to act so confused, everyone. I said what I said."
All the soldiers frowned and their collective gazes went towards Draxus. Even Flashy and Sera looked at him.
Draxus quivered his brows and he was about to ask them what was up when he suddenly understood.
And to that he had only one answer.
"No."
"Don't say no, man. Only you can ask him." Flashy whispered.
Draxus remained stern. "You can ask him too. You are his most loyal underling."
"Yes. But you are his right hand, man. Besides, if I asked him, he would probably shut me up or glare so hard that I would forget the question altogether."
Flashy had prepared the answer and he was kind of right too. Pablo seldom took him seriously.
The other soldiers also persuaded Draxus and the man would have agreed if not for his eyes falling on Sera standing beside Flashy.
"You ask him. You like to talk to him, right? If you ask him, then this way you would get to talk to him more. A good plan, right?" Draxus used the best words he could to entice Sera but the girl… she didn't even change her expressions. Her face remained stoic, flat.
Draxus awaited a reply and Sera let out a tired sigh.
"You expect me to fall for that?"
'This bitch.'
Draxus cursed her inside his mind but as soon as he cursed her, he felt a sudden killing intent towards him. Like a hungry hound growling at him. This feeling came from the empty space behind Sera but Draxus couldn't see anything behind her.
They all were standing in rows and Draxus was in the front of his row.
Flashy was behind him and Sera was on the row next to Draxus, on his left. But she was alone. No one was behind her. She had her own row.
That's why Draxus got more confused as no one was near Sera and yet the murderous intent came from there only.
'Did someone hear me cursing her and get angry at me because of that? That couldn't be possible, right? Will it stop if I say sorry? Fine. I am sorry, lady Sera.'
He shook his head, chuckled at himself for saying sorry to Sera inside his head. He must be going mad.
However, before he could call himself stupid or laugh more, he suddenly felt a change.
The murderous intent vanished. Disappeared. Like it never existed.
'So was it really because I called her a bitch? What kind of magic is that? She can read minds? There's no way a killing intent would appear for no reason. I called her a bitch and I felt death. Heh.'
Draxus wiped the sweat that emerged from deep beneath his hairs.
'You surely found someone like you, czar.'
He let out a dry laugh and made up his mind.
"Fine. I will talk. No need for you to do it."
He said that to Sera, mostly because he had no intentions to feel that divine blood lust towards him from out of nowhere. He couldn't have cared less if he had felt any normal killing intent, but what he felt with Sera was something he had never experienced. It wasn't human at all.
He could have guessed that it was Pablo but he clearly felt the intent from the empty space behind Sera, not from the stage.
In the end, he could only control his breathing and try not to indulge too much in Sera. He would let his Czar handle that nutcase.
After Draxus agreed, the soldiers smiled and focused on Pablo again.
Draxus did the same but his job was now to ask something.
He wasn't scared of asking something to Pablo but he knew Pablo was in the middle of this meeting and if Draxus asked a question during this, then Pablo might get angry and outright kill him.
That's why he wanted to avoid this but he can't avoid it anymore.
Meanwhile, Sera glanced over her shoulder, behind her.
'Well done, Andre.' She said through her mind and Andrezj bowed like the loyal angel he was.
Sera had made him use his abilities for making sure Draxus does the talking and for that, he read Draxus' mind which made the Angel angry because the human called his dearest a bitch!
Nevertheless, it seemed it won't happen again as Draxus was successfully vigilant, if not afraid, of Sera.
Draxus now stared at Pablo and Pablo stared back at him.
The Marshal had heard everything the soldiers talked about but he would stay silent about his godly senses as this way, he could listen to anything the soldiers say as they had no clue that Pablo could hear everything.
Now he waited for Draxus and soon, the loyal man found courage in his heart and raised his hand.
"Yes?" Pablo instantly asked, as to not waste time.
Draxus took a deep breath and asked, "By fight, what do you mean, sir?"
"By fight, I mean fight." Pablo said with indifference.
Draxus' lips twitch. "Fight whom?"
Pablo smiled. "Each other."
GASP!
Everyone gasped and before an uproar could occur, Pablo clarified himself.
"By fighting I mean, get used to the weapons, like oiling your joints. A friendly spar among each other. If I have to say in simple words, I mean…"
Pablo swept his gaze around the ground and simplified his order.
"Killing without killing."
…
Silence.
Everyone remained quiet as their eyes glued to Pablo.
The eight slaves had also chosen their weapons and now they were not sure whether they did the right thing or not.
However, Pablo couldn't care less as this time, with the voice and the authority of a Marshal, he ordered again:
"Start the fight now!"
