Chapter 21: Act XXI: Whispers Across the Centuries
-Centuries Earlier-
[Omniverse]
"It's been around 100 years now, and the Outer Realm is developing well," he said, glancing at the being beside him.
"You're right. Even though it's the first lower dimension, it could be called an unexpected success," the being replied, looking at the growing Outer Realm.
"But there's one thing that piques my curiosity," he said, speaking again.
"What is it?" the being asked with interest.
"Look at the outside of the Outer Realm—its boundaries, to be exact," he replied, pointing toward the edge of the Outer Realm.
The being didn't respond immediately but turned and began observing.
"You're right. Something new is forming there," the being said after a moment, turning its gaze back toward him.
"Is that why you invited me here?" the being asked again.
"Yes, that's why. After all, it's something from your domain," he answered, his eyes fixed once more on the Outer Realm.
"When did it start developing?" the being inquired.
"About 20 years ago, I think," he replied, pondering whether he'd provided the correct timeframe.
"So, it's relatively new. But from what I see, it's still growing," the being remarked, its curiosity and certainty about its nature evident.
"Yes, new—but it's not only here that it's developing," he said, now looking at the being and awaiting a response or explanation.
"Look beyond the Inner Realms and the universes; it's also starting to form there, although more slowly. That began around four years ago," he added, revealing more about the situation.
"I invited you because I know you must know something," he said, directing a plea for answers at the being, though he hadn't finished his thought.
"I know you were present during its creation, so you must know something," he said again, his expectant gaze moving between the being and the Outer Realm.
"You're right. I do have an idea of what it might be," the being replied, narrowing its eyes slightly as it looked at him. Then it continued:
"I also know that it matters a great deal to you. But I'm curious as to why. Maybe you'll tell me, and then I'll explain what's happening," the being said, its eyes filled with curiosity and a faint trace of intrigue over what might tie him to such a lower dimension.
"Seriously? You want to know why? Why does it matter to you so much that you'll only tell me after I tell you?" he asked, his tone tinged with disbelief at the unexpected response.
"I'm simply curious and intrigued by the whole situation," the being replied.
"After all, we all have responsibilities, but staying tied to a lower dimension? Now that is truly fascinating, wouldn't you agree?" the being added, even more curious and slightly surprised by his insistence.
"So, will you tell me or not? If not, I'm leaving, and you'll have to investigate this on your own," the being said, its curiosity undiminished but unwilling to wait forever, as it too had its own matters to attend to.
"Fine, I'll tell you," he said, his tone slightly irritated by the being's conditions. But his desire to learn more outweighed his frustration.
"I stayed here because I still feel a pull to this place," he admitted reluctantly.
"Hmm, so that's all?" the being asked, not expecting such an answer.
"I thought it might be something more significant, like a secret to escaping the Omniverse. But it's just a pull to this place?" the being said, its curiosity fading slightly after learning the reason.
"Well, that's all. I shouldn't have asked. I thought it was something more important," the being said toward him.
"You wanted to know, and I answered. Now it's your turn to explain what this could be, because I know it's some kind of space, but I don't know exactly what," he said, irritated by the being's response and the situation.
"Alright, calm down. No need for irritation—I'll answer now," the being replied, not expecting such a reaction.
"You're right. It is a space—more precisely, a dimension," the being said, gazing at the dimension forming around the Outer Realm.
"A dimension? And why is it forming?" he asked, intrigued as he looked at the growing dimension.
"This dimension is higher than the Outer Realm. But as for why it's forming, I only have theories," the being said, knowing what it was but having only guesses about its origin.
"So, it's a higher dimension than the Outer Realm. But you only have theories, and the dimensions forming around the Inner Realms and universes are the same?" he repeated the being's words, still curious about the emerging dimensions.
"Yes, and you don't need to repeat after me," the being replied.
"As for why it's forming, there could be several reasons, but I'm not entirely sure," the being added, its focus still on the higher dimension and the smaller ones appearing around the Inner Realms and universes.
"One possibility is that these dimensions were originally meant to form but hadn't appeared until now. That's the first idea," the being said, continuing to watch the slowly forming dimensions.
"Another possibility is that these dimensions weren't supposed to form, but during the Outer Realm's stabilization, it couldn't withstand the pressure from the Omniverse and created protective layers—in this case, dimensions," the being said, considering further possibilities while still observing.
"And the final theory is that these dimensions are forming just because, with no specific reason. That's all I've got—I can't think of anything else," the being said, turning back toward him, unable to come up with more due to the vast number of factors that could influence the creation of these dimensions.
"So that's all you know? Honestly, it's more than I expected. Thanks," he said, grateful for the clarification, though slightly surprised that this was all the being could offer.
"No problem. But there could be far more reasons—I just don't have any other ideas. If that's all, I'll be off," the being said, waiting to see if he needed anything else.
"Yes, that's all. Thanks. Goodbye," he said.
"Then farewell," the being replied, disappearing into the Omniverse.
The figure turned toward the Omniverse, lost in thought.
