Crazy Blood Demon

Chapter 14: Shadow Cloak

"How did you figure out I'm a new Beginner? And how did you know I have an affinity for chaos?"

"According to your aura, I'm not sure how strong you must be to pick that up," Remo replied calmly.

Bob glanced at Nina, intending to ask her something, but what he saw startled him: she was staring blankly at the ground, shaking uncontrollably.

"Nina?" Bob called out, a sense of urgency creeping into his voice.

No response.

"Nina?!" Bob shouted, growing more worried.

Still no answer.

"Hmm, maybe she's sick," Bob muttered, though a dark thought lingered in his mind.

"It's probably severe psychological trauma. Getting traumatized just for the sake of it? These people are really weird," Remo chuckled, almost dismissively.

Bob turned his attention to the bloody chaos around them, his thoughts momentarily interrupted.

"Mm."

He walked over to Nina, lifting her neck gently, careful not to break it—though he knew it would be easy for him to do so.

Nina's eyes were full of tears, her makeup ruined, but she wasn't crying anymore. Her eyes stared into nothingness, unblinking and unresponsive. Bob let her go, pulling back slowly.

"Hmm," Bob muttered, a deep sigh escaping his chest.

"I guess I have no other choice," Bob finally said, his tone resigned.

He looked at his inventory.

Without hesitation, he pointed his sword at Nina's neck and cleavage, the steel gleaming in the low light.

Boom.

Blood swirled from her wound with a sickening sound, followed by the grim noise of her severed head hitting the ground. Tears began to fall from Bob's eyes, grief striking him harder than he expected.

"Get rid of the human weakness," Remo echoed coldly. "She was just a mere creature. If she was a family member, I would understand, but it's useless to grieve."

Bob wiped his tears, angrily punching himself in the chest.

[-40 HP]

Looking down at his own wound, Bob screamed.

"I need to get rid of the weakness!" he yelled, his voice echoing through the dark space.

Bob cried, thinking back to when he lived with his parents, and how they forbade him from doing many things. He had cried at first, but over time, he grew numb to it. He had shed tears a lot when living with Danzel, but this was different. The grief hit deeper now.

After a long while, Bob sat on the ground, lost in thought.

[The system began to update...]

[Congratulations, your system has updated to the latest version.]

Bob looked up at the message, curiosity piqued. He decided to check what had changed.

[Stats] [Shop]

"Hmh, looks like I can buy things without Addak now," Bob muttered, intrigued.

He clicked on [Shop], his eyes scanning the new options.

[Skill boxes] [Weapon boxes] [Armor boxes] [Wheel of Fortune]

He could now buy armor and weapons too, not just skills. And then there was the wheel of fortune, which he remembered from his time in the casino.

The wheel was massive, filled with various symbols and question marks. Above it was a note about the rewards available today, and below it was listed the price: 5000 coins, with an increase of 5000 coins each month.

Bob was about to close the wheel, but suddenly, instead of the usual 5000 coins, it displayed 1xFREE.

Bob's eyes widened. He remembered a time back in his old life when Danzel had given him some money for a walk, and he had spent it in a casino, spinning a similar wheel. He hadn't won much then, only 3 dollars, which left him bitter.

Now, with the free spin, Bob hesitated for a moment before pressing the [x1 FREE] button. The red wheel began to spin, its yellow lights flashing around it.

[You win: Shadow Cloak (Rare Armor)]

Once upon a time, a famous thief tried to rob a church. After a long time, he succeeded, but to his disappointment, he found only fake gold and a strange dark white gem. When he tried to pocket the gem, the cloak appeared instead.

When wearing the cloak, you gain +2 Vitality. Draining mana into the cloak will make you invisible to everyone for 3 minutes. Can be used once a day.

[13 watchers are surprised by your luck.]

Bob stared, a mixture of surprise and satisfaction filling him. He'd never expected to win something so useful and rare.

He pressed [OK], and the cloak was automatically added to his inventory.

With a smirk, Bob pulled the cloak from his inventory. It was pitch black, as dark as night itself, and the fabric felt surprisingly rough, though it appeared soft. It reached down to his legs, the hood designed to fit perfectly, but Bob didn't put it on just yet—he didn't want his visibility to be impaired.

"Not bad. It fits," Bob thought to himself, a thrill of excitement running through him.

"Remo, what do you think?" Bob asked, eager to hear his opinion.

"How did you get that?!" Remo's voice was full of surprise.

"Don't you see the system?" Bob replied, raising an eyebrow in confusion.

"I guess I forgot to mention it, but no, I don't see the system. I can see through your eyes, but not the system itself," Remo explained.

"Anyway, I can smell the shadow mana from it, which is rare mana," Remo continued, his tone impressed.

"I got the description—it says the cloak makes me invisible for 3 minutes once a day, and it boosts my Vitality by 2," Bob commented.

Bob didn't hesitate. He quickly put the cloak on, feeling the cool fabric settle around his form. It was the perfect fit. The hood was still off, though he could feel the allure of its power.

"A useful item, if you know how to wield it properly. Heh," Remo said, his voice lighter now, as if in a good mood.
