CONNECT: Rise Of The Undead King

Chapter 49: You Serve Me

At first Uche didn't know what to do after seeing that Eric had seen his healing capabilities, he had thought the boy would run out immediately and start shouting what he had seen, but no, Eric didn't do that. The poor boy was completely consumed by fear, he couldn't even move as he was shaking violently and then Uche thought.

'I guess it wouldn't be that bad if people knew about me, maybe then I won't be a victim anymore.'

That was his first thought but of course he knew better. They would regard him as a monster and hunt him down.

So Uche immediately erased that thought but right now, he needed to deal with Eric.

"Now tell me, what can you offer me?"

Uche said in an authoritative tone.

"Anything, anything just say it, I'll do it for you."

Eric said, lips trembling.

Then Uche smiled.

"Anything? How about this then."

He then held the boy's finger and snapped it in one swift motion.

"Argh."

Eric screamed in pain, his voice echoing in the room. The best thing is that as long as the door is closed, nobody could hear any sound from outside no matter the ruckus they caused.

"Well I guess this will do for now then."

Uche said as he started snapping Eric's fingers one after the other, making the boy let out a painful groan. He would snap the ten fingers, leave them to heal only to break them again, he did this for like a couple of hours, torturing the boy so hard that he only wished for death.

"Now I feel better, so let's see what other things you can do for me."

Uche muttered as he rose to his feet and moved to his own bed.

"Get up."

He commanded and Eric could be seen standing in front of him in an instant, beaten and battered, his leg could not keep him upright as it was shaking violently. He looked like someone who had gone through a thousand years of torture.

Uche stared at him up and down, then said.

"From now on, you serve me."

"You only listen to my command."

He said darkly, staring into Eric's eyes who tried his possible best not to make eye contact.

"You must keep your friends in check, if they ever come after me again then what happened tonight is just a little of what you'll see. Also if you dare spill my secret, your whole family and friends will pay for it, and I'll make sure to put you through eternal hell."

Hearing these words, Eric shivered, cold sweat ran down his spine as he nodded in understanding.

Seeing that the boy was completely consumed by fear, Uche smiled.

'When did I become this cruel.'

After evolving into a pure blooded vampire, everything about him had changed completely, he had changed from the innocent Uche who's always on the run to something else.

Uche stared at the other broken bed and smiled.

"So sad your precious bed is broken, now I guess you'll have to sleep on the floor."

Uche said, signaling for him to go sleep.

'I think I need to contact Mira.'

The wristwatch Mira gave him is still with him and she had claimed they could communicate through the wristwatch that she'll be checking on him from time to time. She had claimed that it's impossible for her to be checking on him in the academy so the wristwatch is their only mode of communication.

'I wonder how she's doing.'

He brought out the wristwatch and tapped the screen three times, and flooding in were countless messages, all coming from Mira.

"Oh wow, I never expected."

Uche muttered as he opened the first message which happened to be a voicemail.

"Hey, we won't be able to communicate for some time so don't try to contact me as I'll be very busy, after this voicemail I'll forward you some studies you need to protect yourself in the academy, including martial arts study and blood manipulation study. You need to use them well and get stronger before you graduate, good luck."

The voicemail ended there and just as she had said, the messages after that were videos and manuals on how Uche could improve himself.

"Well well."

---

Uche had spent the whole night watching the advanced martial arts videos Mira had forwarded to him so he didn't really have a good night's rest, and because of this, the morning class became his sleeping session.

He had his head on the desk while the teacher taught away. The teacher left a couple of hours later and another teacher came in, also spending another couple of hours but during this particular class Uche was wide awake because it was the history class.

He somehow found himself enjoying the history class, the teacher talked about the history of vampires and their past relationships with the humans and this particular part caught Uche's interest.

It turns out that vampires and humans used to coexist before.

Uche listened carefully with keen interest as the history teacher talked about the story behind vampires and humans.

"Some millenniums ago, vampires and humans used to live peacefully, they shared the same home and were very happy. Humans didn't care about the fact that they're just a source of food for the vampires and vampires also didn't see them as a mere source of food. They were all happy."

"But then some human groups started uprising. As you all know that we vampires can't live without human blood, and some people saw our relationship with humans as a means of survival, they thought we only saw them as a mere source of food, then they started going after us one by one, killing vampires one after the other."

"They were only a few vampires at that period and they could only come out at night as we can't be exposed to sunshine, and this certain group used this as an advantage. They burned us down in our houses during the day, knowing that we're powerless in the presence of sun and fire. But then we also began raiding the human cities at night, knowing that we'll be at full power at night."

"We raided the first three human cities to nothing, we were winning and thought we would turn humans into our slaves, but then this certain group stepped out. The certain group that first entertained the idea of getting rid of us, the Hunters."

"The Hunters?"

The whole class repeated, surprised.

"Yeah I think I've heard of them before, a group of special humans that grow the more vampires they kill."

Someone said from behind.

"Exactly."

The teacher continued.

"This group of humans called The Hunters sought the power of the sun, and the more vampires they killed, the stronger they became. We were no match for this group, and they started wiping us out slowly. The vampires started going extinct, until the Originals intervened."

"The Originals?"

Uche muttered, surprised.

"You dumbass, the Originals are our ancestors, they're the first vampires."

A girl sitting in front of him said.

"With the help of the Originals, we were able to get rid of this group and leave the human world. The Originals had no interest in ruling the humans or using them as a source of food, so they left the human world and built a separate world for the vampires, where we can survive even without human blood."

"Survive without human blood? Don't tell me what we drink is not human blood?"

Someone asked from behind.

"That's a story for another day. Have a nice lunch."

The history teacher said as he walked out of the class.

'So that liquid is not human blood? But it tastes no different from the taste of human blood.'

Uche remembered well what human blood tasted like, and this liquid tasted no different from it.

"Eric!! Come let's go grab lunch."

Uche heard a voice from the window, a voice he recognized.

'His friends are here.'

Eric stared at Uche for a couple of seconds and only moved when Uche nodded his head, giving him permission to go.
