Chapter 42: The Power Of Connect's Eye
The last time the two of them fought, Uche's reflex had not been as incredible as it is now. He was able to avoid his fist from being sliced by the sword because he reacted the instant Snowflake brought his sword to deflect his fist. He twisted his arm to the side and punched the flat surface of the sword. Which means he had gone through some kind of training.
But Snowflake wasn't surprised, he wasn't just hiding and sleeping for the past month, and Snowflake is naturally stronger than him.
His sword moves again, in a thrusting motion, hoping to pierce Uche's chest and fish out his organs. Uche of course, didn't wait for the sword to get to him, he moved to the side, avoiding it completely and moved forward with a punch heading towards Snowflake. But the bastard is too swift and cunning, he suddenly moved his sword back and attacked with it again, before Uche's fist could even get to him.
His sword was aimed at his neck, making him stop abruptly, fear of being slashed. The fight continued with Snowflake having the upper hand. His movement was swift and his attack was cruel, he gave Uche no chance to breathe as he attacked from all sides. If it was any other person, they would have been dead by now, but Uche is no ordinary person, he's a vampire or rather a half-blooded vampire, a strange one at that.
Although the wounds he received from Snowflake's sword are not healing, he had managed to avoid some attacks that could've possibly cost him his life. Most of his training sessions with Mira was how to survive this kind of situation unharmed, a situation where he would be faced with stronger opponents, and that's why he had been faring quite well against Snowflake.
But he still received some injuries.
"I must admit, your swordsmanship is unmatched."
Uche said, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
A few cuts could be seen on his body, blood slowly dripping out of them. He threw a quick glance at Mira who had knocked out more than half of her enemies, and she's surprisingly unharmed. Uche knew he's no match for Snowflake, the crazy serial killer is too strong for him, so he was hoping to buy time till Mira finished up her enemies.
But Snowflake is not buying that, he charged forward again, and said.
"I was expecting more from you. Don't tell me that's all you have to offer."
Snowflake said as his sword rained down on Uche like a thunderbolt. Instead of trying to avoid the sword, Uche simply threw a punch with his left hand to deflect the sword, while his right hand prepared to launch an attack.
But it was as if Snowflake knew exactly what he was planning, he simply moved his sword at the last second, twisting his body in a strange way making Uche hit nothing but air. Then the tip of Snowflake's sword slightly cut his cheek, blood dripping off from it.
They engaged again. Now Uche decided not to block or avoid his opponent's attack anymore. Everything had been futile before, so he decided to go for the attack now, disregarding any form of defense.
After all, his body will heal later even if he got hurt badly.
Snowflake continued with his brutal attack, swinging his sword dangerously at Uche, and each swing left a terrible cut on his body. But Uche didn't mind, he also continued throwing punch after punches, relentlessly, although none of his attacks had yet to hit Snowflake because he was avoiding every single one of them, while deflecting a few with his sword. And that's exactly what Uche wanted.
If he could keep his opponent engaged with an attack of his own, instead of being on the defensive mode, he would find a perfect timing to land a hit on him.
And so he did.
Just as Snowflake avoided another of Uche's punches by moving backward a little, he thrust his sword deeply into Uche's chest, making it come out at the other side. He drew his sword back and was about to make another attack when Uche's left fist hit his chin unaware. The attack shifted his jaw, blood flying out of his mouth with a few useless teeth as he was sent flying back.
Uche also staggered, but stopped himself from falling down, blood was pumping out of his chest like running water, and his vision was slowly becoming blurry. But he still forced himself moving forward.
This is his only chance to retrieve his eye back, he knew Snowflake wouldn't be able to handle his punch with full strength included, that's why he had deliberately endured all of his attacks to land a hit of his own, then retrieve his eye.
"Arghhh."
Snowflake growled roughly as he rolled on the floor, trying to help himself up with his sword. But Uche was already standing before him, he threw another punch to his stomach, sending him flying back again.
Now, Snowflake could be seen lying flat on the junk-filled street of the outskirts, several bodies lying beside him, unconscious.
Uche approached him again, his own strength also fading away, slowly, but he still pushed himself forward. He looked around and found Mira standing at the edge of the street, her hands crossed as she stared at him.
It seems she had finished off her enemies.
'She didn't kill them all.'
Uche thought with a smile.
"Will you just keep smiling there? Retrieve your eye and finish him once, this place reeks of blood."
Mira said as she saw him smiling.
And just as she said those words, several figures emerged from the alleyway that led into the street at the front, they moved towards them in a well-organized manner.
Mira turned to look at them and immediately knew who they were.
"Damn these cops, why would they appear now of all times. Retrieve your eye quickly and let's go, they're here for him."
She said, pressing a few buttons on her wristwatch and a bike appeared right in front of her.
Uche did not hesitate lowering himself down to Snowflake's height on the floor, he raised his head up with his robe, then stared directly into his eyes. The crazy killer tried to resist, but he had been weakened incredibly by the two punches he received from Uche, blood flowing out of his mouth.
Just as their two eyes met, Uche had removed his eyepatch before approaching him, so as their eyes made contact, he immediately felt something crawling under his eye socket, as if countless tendrils were emerging from it, and so they did.
Bloody red tiny tendrils emerged from his socket, they crawled out and moved with lightning speed, made contact with Snowflake's left eye, and forcefully dragged it out of its socket. Making the serial killer scream in agony.
Mira looked away in disgust and focused her attention on the cops who were only a few meters away from them.
'How is that possible?'
She thought, her belief was that Uche would fish out the eye with a knife and go for a surgery, but he had simply retrieved it by staring into the killer's eyes. That ability is eerily incredible.
'He never stops to amaze me.'
She knew Uche would become a wanted in the vampire world if they knew about everything he could do, just like the human world, there'll be those who want to exploit him and those who want to end him for good.
But she didn't need to think about that right now, it would be what they had to deal with in the future, because right now, they have another problem. The cops had started shooting after hearing the painful scream from Snowflake.
Mira briefly glanced at Uche and asked.
"Are you done."
Uche didn't reply, instead he turned around and looked at Mira making the young woman look away in disgust once again.
"Damn, just get on the bike and let's go."
She said as she turned the bike around, and sped off as Uche got on it. His eye had been retrieved from Snowflake, but it hadn't been fixed into him. The tendrils were busy stitching it into his eye socket, but the sight wasn't entertaining, nor pleasing, that's why Mira had looked away as it was disgusting.
