CONNECT: Rise Of The Undead King

Chapter 40: A Month

The cops had lived up to their word, keeping Uche's secret from the world and also clearing his name of being Snowflake. While at the same time, searching for Snowflake with all their resources, but they found no trace of him, not even his scent was perceived, it was as if he puffed off like smoke.

Both Mira and Uche had also been relentless in their search, but Snowflake was never found.

A week passed in their relentless fruitless search, and then another week passed, and another until it turned to a month. And still Snowflake was never found, Uche had already entertained the idea of giving up on retrieving his eyes, and just descending to the vampire world with his eye patch. And he had already prepared to leave with Mira.

In fact, everything he needed had been packed, he had spent the whole month training with Mira and learning several things, he had also learned some basic vampire skills but he couldn't use them for now because he's still a half blooded vampire. At first, after Uche explained how he had drained the blood of six humans, Mira had thought he had somehow become a pure blooded vampire so she had tried to teach him how to feed on human blood a few days later, but he couldn't.

Not only was Uche afraid and disgusted of drinking human blood again, but when he finally had the nerve to consume it, his body rejected it and he almost lost his life.

Mira was really confused by this reaction, it is normal for a half blooded vampire's body to reject blood on their first try and give the same reaction as he did, so that didn't bother Mira at all, what made her more confused was that this was not his first time, she is very sure that Uche is not lying about draining six cops dry, so why had his body rejected the blood on his second try.

'Maybe it's because of the amount of injury he suffered and lost his sanity, but wait even a normal half blooded could not survive that amount of injury.'

Mira had been wondering how and why for the last few days now, she was totally confused.

"Aren't you nervous?"

Mira asked, scrolling through her computer screen with a tired expression on her delicate face. She had been on the computer for the past few days now, claiming that she needed to gather everything she had learned in the human world and make a report to the officials back in the vampire world. So she had been busy for the past few days, leaving Uche to train all by himself.

"Huh nervous? Why should I?"

Uche asked with an eyebrow raised, he was sitting beside her in the study room.

"I mean, most half blooded vampires always got nervous when going to the vampire world, after all, they'll be leaving the human world where they are born and raised, to an unknown world they know nothing about, so they are always nervous. And you, that the vampire world might be dangerous for you, seem more excited than nervous."

Mira said, glancing over at him.

Uche shrugged, looking away as he stared into the night with a calm expression. He was indeed excited, even if he might be in danger if the vampires found out that he's not ordinary, he was still excited. Why?

Because he would finally be leaving the human world where he had been considered alien, although the same thing would happen in the vampire world if they found out about him, but Uche was excited because he realized he could grow stronger and protect himself.

He had been living weak in the human world always on the run, but the same thing won't happen in the vampire, at least not right now, because he would be able to discover his power and use them freely, grow stronger and create a happy life for himself.

The fact that he's different is for a reason.

He smiled.

"Nothing, I'm just excited, you know, finally leaving this hell."

Uche said with a smile on his face.

"I understand."

Mira replied.

"Arghh."

Uche suddenly screamed, his head down as he moved his hand rubbing his eyes. He felt as if something sharp and hot struck his empty eye socket, leaving a burning sensation in its wake.

"Hey what happened."

Mira said as she quickly moved over to him, worried.

The pain didn't last long though, and Uche raised his hand, signaling for Mira not to worry. The pain was not new to him, and he couldn't lie that he had somehow missed this feeling, he had been secretly expecting it for the past month, hoping Snowflake would contact him.

As usual, the pain turned into a distinct vision and Uche sat upright, watching calmly as the vision unfolded.

For a moment, everything went dark, and then a dim light was suddenly cast above a sandy ground and a long arm could be seen, stretched downward with a small stick hovering above the ground. A second passed before the stick started moving, and when it stopped, Uche calmly read what the stick had written.

It was a detailed description of a place, and right behind it was another statement saying.

*Be there in thirty minutes.*

And then, just like that, the vision ended.

Leaving Uche staring into the air, with a smirk on his face.

"What's wrong."

Mira asked, seeing the strange smirk on his face.

"That bastard, he finally contacted me, he said to meet him in the outskirts in thirty minutes."

Uche said, staring into the air.

"Just at the right time."

Mira commented.

"But we need to be careful this time, he surely will have another trap for us."

She said.

"Yes, but I won't let him go, he will never escape this time around."

Uche said, his expression determined.

"Then what are we waiting for, let's go right away."

---

A couple dozen minutes later, both of them found themselves walking on the junk filled streets of the outskirts, they continued walking deeper into the outskirts, going from one road to another, and one street to another, looking for the place Snowflake had asked them to meet.

He had given a detailed description of the road they would walk through, to get to their destination. There are no formal addresses in the outskirts, so finding a place is extremely hard for the city people, but still, somehow Snowflake managed to give a detailed description of how they were going to locate their meeting point.

With the description still fresh in his mind, Uche continued leading Mira deeper into the outskirts, both of them calm and composed, even with the strange atmosphere of the outskirts, calm and eerie.

Until they got into a strange street.

The street was strangely full of people walking on the junk-filled road, and there were people selling stuff on the side of the road. The street was bustling with life, happy and cheerful, even though it was already night.

The street was strangely busier than any street in the city.

What shocked Uche the most was that he had been to this place before, but he couldn't remember when.

"Is this the street we are supposed to meet?"

Mira asked, and Uche nodded.

"It looks different from other streets in the outskirts."

She commented, looking around her surroundings.
