Classless Ascension

Chapter 401: D-23 Show! (1/2)

"Hehe, guess who we'll be singing for...." 🤩

Many in the CDE region stared wide-eyed at the SnapCat post. Bullshit, it had to be bullshit, right?! Josh was back?! The reactions to this news were mixed.

"So what? Isn't he just some rich fool? I heard he doesn't even manage his own school, talk about pathetic!" Some scoffed.

"Tch— Couldn't he just stay dead? That bastard's troublesome. He doesn't even respect guilds, he's always just doing his own thing." Some deplored.

Then there were the ones that knew him personally. "Men, prepare my flying ship! I'm heading there right now!! QUICK!" Even some usually stern Climbers went wild.

But the ones that truly went crazy were the residents of D-23. They had filled the entire school with celebratory banners, alcohol, hot chocolate, and barbecue bonfires all over.

The "Climbing addicts" had come out, "strolling" around the school, all hoping to steal a glance at their founder. Sadly for them, Josh had sequestrated himself inside the Serene Tranquility Temple.

He sat alone in a peerlessly white meditation room when he suddenly heard the sound of the door opening. There stood a smiling middle-aged man, the one and only Serene Elder.

"You know the plaque at the entrance says meditation room, right?" He chuckled as he pointed at the UW he was browsing.

"Oh? It's fine as long as I'm serene, right?" Josh remarked slyly before sighing deeply. "It's strange. I've barely been gone a while, and yet everything feels unfamiliar. I feel old…."

Even the smell of the air was different. He had just checked a research paper explaining the increase in atmospherical mana concentration, which led to the evolution of the world itself.

"Tch— Saying that at your age! How am I supposed to feel?!" The Elder exclaimed.

"Like a dinosaur!" Josh gave a wry smile.

"…You!!!"

"Me?"

"Pfft!!!" The two suddenly giggled as they shared a look. One was glad of his student's return while the youngster rejoiced at seeing a familiar face.

"So, what's this about an idol concert? They're going crazy outside…." The monk asked puzzle. A random wild party was a very Josh thing to do, but it gave him an odd feeling.

"It's actually a rescue mission, with a girl coming over to teach me summoning..she just doesn't know it yet. Now, will you help me train? I've found this forum for the basics." Josh replied.

"Of course!"

The youngster from another world and his out-of-touch teacher began diligently studying, one reading and the other practicing.

Little did they realize that a Serene Golden Halo spread out from the both of them, time flying by, a monster in the making…

━━━━━━ POV ━━━━━━━

In a backstage loge, a group of six girls nervously chatted, another a distance away with her face hidden by a hood.

"Can you believe it, we're here! After all the trouble they went through to get us here, we'll have to give one hell of a show!" Their leader, pink lotus, exclaimed.

Their initial flight was supposed to be delayed by a flock of Silverwings. Deadly, fast, but not especially bloodthirsty, the best approach was to wait for the creatures to fly away.

But then Frank had gotten involved…

Wait? Nope! This was the leader's request, after all! He had brought every vessel and student available on a Grand Silverwing Hunt with enough Climbers to bloat the sky.

"I'm still shaking remembering that glorious sight. So many knights in shining armor just for us! Still, that's a bit much if that Josh is just a fan, right? It makes you wonder…."

"Gasp! Do you mean he might have a crush on one of us?!" One exclaimed in shock.

"Kyaaa! That must be it! Love at first sight!"

The lone girl by the side couldn't help herself from sighing exasperatedly. 'Such a nice term for something so superficial in essence', she thought as she prepared herself for the upcoming performance.

"Tch— She's acting like she's better than us again!…" One girl complained.

"No, that's not—" The lone girl protested weakly.

"Of course, you don't believe in love at first sight with that face of yours!" She kept spouting poison, poking at her flaws.

"Cut it out, you two!" Pink lotus finally got involved, giving an apologetic expression at the lone girl already distancing herself even further from the group.

Another sigh came from under the hood. This should have been the highlight of her career, but she would once again be nothing more than a prop to the six core members.

She was in charge of summoning creatures to liven up the ambiance of the show…but that was it. She was neither strong nor pretty, nor did she possess great artistic talent.

She was expendable…

Would people even remember her after this great "accomplishment"? Probably not, but she would still give her best. She clenched her fist, waiting until it was finally time.

— WOOOO! —

As they appeared on the stage, the cheers were deafening. There were D.L. members all over the place, glancing at the six girls on the stage.

No matter where they looked, there were intimidating Climbers. Their aura was something else!  They all had a certain intensity that made one unconsciously gulp.

But then the atmosphere turned utterly strange as one man began distributing glow sticks across the crowd.

"..."

Of course, it was Frank! Normally he would have been more restrained about this hobby of his, but now that even the Guild Master had endorsed it, he was having so much fun.

The sight of a thousand deadly-looking Climbers brandishing glow sticks was quite….peculiar to say the least.

When the idols heard them start chanting their band name, "Myriad Flowers," they finally couldn't contain their wild joy.

"Are you all ready for the show of your lives?!"

"YEAH!" Their spectators all shouted at once.

Did they really care about the songs? Songs = increased likelihood of Josh appearing. Worst case, there'd be some music, right?

Then it all began.

The world suddenly turned dark, even during the day. A spell had been used to obscure the sun! Then a spot suddenly lit up, a gigantic translucent glowing flower appearing.

"Wow! Such cool illusion magic!"

Many couldn't help but jerk in shock as they noticed that those weren't actually illusions but flying jellyfish-like summons! But their attention was captured by what they were doing.

The creature-made flower suddenly erupted akin to a volcano, sending immaterial-looking petals all over the place and finally revealing the idols inside.

The petals then transformed into countless everchanging animal figures. From majestic birds of prey to horses and even whales. They all seemed so alive as they flew around the idols.

"Men, gather around!" She hollered as if a mighty general.

The summons all congregated toward the stage as they transformed into soldiers. How could they look so cute and so valiant at the same time?! Also, was this a...battlefield?!

Then began the singing, the summons adding visuals to the story in real-time. They were so vivid that many couldn't help but cheer, but the voice was even a few notches better!

It didn't take long for the spectators to lose themselves in the otherworldly singing…

"♫♩♫♩♫♩

I woke up, and there was a Tower

Just a young girl finding her way

Utterly Void of any power or sway

But no way I'll remain a wallflower!

♫♩

Oh, heroes, hear this song of mine!

Let us all head to the battlefield

Get ready, up high raise your shields!

All of us will hold the very Frontline!

♫♩

Hear my song and be inspired!

Even the powerless I am here!

Monsters? No need to fear!

We'll do whatever's required!

♫♩

Swords, bows, guns, magic…

Let's blow them all sky high!

Our enemies' fate so tragic!

Let them hear our war cry!

♫♩♫♩♫♩"

Only when the song was over did the people finally return to their senses. This group was so good! But even then they still looked forward to Josh's appearance more...
