Chapter 92: Chapter 92: Trade Done, Hiromi Kato

[System Notification:]

[Ding! Trade Complete!]

[Ding! You have acquired the abilities "Dragon Bloodline" and "Dragon Magic"!]

[Ding! Abilities detected for potential fusion: "Crimson Lotus Dragon God," "Dragon Bloodline," and "Dragon Magic." Fusion successful!]

Rei Ao felt the power within him shift as his "Crimson Lotus Dragon God" ability fused with the new powers. Not only did he retain control over crimson flames, but he also gained access to new dragon magic abilities, including transformation and teleportation, which seemed especially useful.

Tohru sensed a formidable aura radiate from Rei Ao, the unmistakable presence of dragon power. Her eyes widened in shock.

"Are you... a dragon too?"

"I'm not a dragon," Rei Ao replied calmly. "I just possess some of its power."

Then, with a steady tone, he continued, "Although this was a trade, I did save your life. I hope you won't mind answering one question for me."

Still using magic to heal herself, Tohru replied, "Fine. What would you like to know?"

"How did you end up in this world?" Rei Ao asked. "This world shouldn't have dragons, especially not ones as powerful as you."

Tohru blinked, her gaze finally taking in her surroundings. "Now that you mention it, the mana in the air is really sparse… So this isn't my world," she mused. "I remember fighting the gods, then a powerful blast ripped open a rift in space, and I must have fallen through."

Rei Ao's eyes gleamed. He suspected as much—Tohru's world was likely the other dimension that Raphiel and the others had spoken about, one that had been "bridged" to his own. He thought carefully and asked another question to confirm.

"Tohru, does your world have beasts called 'magical creatures'?"

"Magical creatures?" Tohru scoffed. "Yes, we have plenty of those. Pathetic, really."

That confirmed it. The connected world was indeed Tohru's.

With her injuries nearly healed, Tohru unfurled her dragon wings, sending powerful gusts through the trees. Nearby, Kobayashi staggered in the wind, barely kept upright by Rei Ao's steadying hand.

Raising her head, Tohru fixed her dragon eyes on Rei Ao, gratitude and resolve shining in their depths.

"Human, you saved my life. I'll repay this debt the next time we meet."

Even though it had been a trade, she couldn't deny that he had indeed saved her life.

Unfazed, Rei Ao shrugged and gave her a final piece of advice. "You can leave, but don't cause too much of a stir here. Unlike your world, humans here are… fragile."

Tohru's gaze fell on the unsteady Kobayashi, and she nodded in understanding. With a powerful flap of her wings, she soared into the sky and disappeared with a thunderous whoosh.

Meanwhile, Kobayashi was left dazed. "Is… is this really not a dream?"

Pinching her cheek hard, she winced at the sharp pain. It wasn't a dream after all.

"What's your address?" Rei Ao asked her suddenly.

"Uh… it's XXX…" Still a bit groggy, she answered without thinking. Before she knew it, Rei Ao placed a hand on her shoulder.

In the blink of an eye, the world around her twisted, spinning wildly.

Kobayashi's mind reeled as she struggled to regain her footing. She swayed for a moment before collapsing forward—onto her own bed.

"Teleportation magic," Rei Ao murmured, watching her land on the bed. "Seems like it might need some fine-tuning."

He'd used Kobayashi to test his newfound teleportation skill, and while the magic worked, it was clearly disorienting for an ordinary human. The exertion had left Kobayashi unconscious, now breathing softly as she lay there in her room.

Rei Ao still had one more test to try.

"Let's see… if I choose to 'return' from this world, will it work?"

With the trade complete, he activated his "return" function.

He disappeared from the room in an instant, leaving only Kobayashi's steady breathing behind.

"Why are you home so early, sis?"

Rei Ao had just left when Megumi's older sister, Hiromi Kato, unexpectedly returned.

"Don't even ask. There was a major power outage at the office, so we got to leave early," Hiromi said with a sigh.

Hiromi shared similar facial features with Megumi, but her expressions were far more animated. With her silky, long hair and a more mature figure, she radiated a sophisticated aura.

Tossing her handbag onto the couch, Hiromi sat down, rubbing her legs. She spotted two water glasses on the table.

"Well, look at you, Megumi—already pouring a glass of water for me? So thoughtful!" she said with a smile and picked up a glass, taking big gulps.

"Wait…" Megumi tried to stop her, but it was too late.

That was actually the glass Rei Ao had used.

Setting the glass down, Hiromi started to undress, calling out, "Megumi, are you using the bathroom? I need a quick shower."

Megumi gave a silent shake of her head, only hoping Rei Ao didn't unexpectedly return.

"Alright, then. The bathroom is mine now!" Hiromi declared playfully, and in her underwear, she disappeared into the bathroom.

Soon, the sound of running water filled the apartment.

Megumi sighed, retreating to her bedroom. Once inside, she closed the door and quickly pinged Rei Ao in their group chat.

Megumi Kato: "@Rei Ao, please let me know before you come back."

"I'm already back," came Rei Ao's voice from behind her.

"!!"

Megumi whirled around to find herself face-to-face with him, only inches away, close enough to feel each other's breaths.

Caught between Rei Ao and the door, Megumi felt her heart rate quicken. "Rei Ao… what's going on?" she asked, her voice unsteady.

Rei Ao gave a slight smile as he picked up on the rapid beats of her heart.

He was the type to seize opportunities.

Late at night, alone in Megumi's room—conditions couldn't be more perfect.

Fixing his mesmerizing gaze on her, Rei Ao spoke in a low voice, "Megumi, have you realized how bold you've been with me lately?"

"I… don't know what you mean," she replied softly, clearly flustered.

"Oh, you know. You've been teasing me quite a bit," he replied, recalling all the subtle ways she'd drawn close, even that time she'd kissed him.

"Teasing and then running off—that's not fair," he murmured. "I think I need to tease you back."

"Wait…?" Megumi barely had time to process his words before she felt his warm lips on hers.

Rei Ao had indeed taken the initiative, but he was ready to stop if she pulled away. Yet, to his surprise, she didn't resist. Instead, she gently wrapped her arms around his waist.

Seeing her response, Rei Ao's eyes brightened, and he deepened the kiss, gradually moving her toward the bed.

Meanwhile, in the bathroom...

"Huh? Out of shampoo?" Hiromi muttered, realizing the bottle was empty just as she was about to wash her hair.

With a sigh, she grabbed a towel, wrapped it around herself, and dripped her way to the door.

Not seeing Megumi in the living room, she headed toward her sister's bedroom.

As she gripped the doorknob, she called out, "Hey, Megumi, do you know where we keep the extra shampoo…?"

As soon as she opened the door, her words halted.

Hiromi Kato's large, expressive eyes blinked in confusion as she took in the scene before her. She saw Rei Ao, Megumi, and the bed, forming a scene that left her momentarily frozen in place.

Megumi quickly pushed Rei Ao away, sat up, and began buttoning her pajamas. Rei Ao, however, remained calm, eyeing Hiromi, who had interrupted them. He already guessed that this was Megumi's older sister, but even so, he couldn't help but notice that she was both beautiful and more mature than Megumi.

Despite her extreme embarrassment, Megumi pointed out quietly, "Sister, your clothes…"

Hiromi glanced down and realized the situation.

"Ahhh!"

A scream echoed through the Kato household.

A short time later, the three sat facing each other on the living room sofa, each battling their own form of embarrassment. Megumi's mind whirled with thoughts of how she'd gotten herself into this situation with Rei Ao, only to be caught by her sister. Hiromi, on the other hand, was struggling with the fact that Rei Ao had seen her half-dressed.

Breaking the awkward silence, Rei Ao introduced himself. "Hello, I'm Rei Ao, Megumi's classmate…and her boyfriend."

"!"

Megumi's face turned scarlet, but she didn't object, and Rei Ao's grin broadened, feeling affirmed in his choice to be bold.

Turning to Hiromi, he continued, "And you must be Hiromi Kato, Megumi's sister. She's mentioned you before."

"Oh, yes, that's me," Hiromi replied, rubbing her neck, looking equally awkward. She was open-minded and didn't mind that her sister was dating. Now it made sense why Megumi had been so nervous when she came home unexpectedly—she had planned to bring her boyfriend over while the family was out!

Hiromi wasn't exactly opposed to the idea, but it was a bit unsettling to realize that her younger sister was stepping into adulthood before she was. What's more, the fact that Rei Ao had caught her in such a compromising position only added to her unease. She shot Megumi a glance, silently pleading, 'Please, say something!'

To her surprise, Megumi spoke—but what she said left Hiromi feeling even more unsettled.

With a calm expression, Megumi asked, "Rei Ao, do you think my sister's figure is better than mine?"

"…"

Caught off guard, Rei Ao hesitated but then met her serious gaze. "Well, it is, but I think you have a lot of potential."

"Oh, I see." Megumi's response was composed as she fell silent again.

"???"

Hiromi was completely at a loss. 'What kind of conversation is this?!'

In her awkwardness, Hiromi laughed it off, saying, "Rei Ao, let's just chalk up what happened earlier to an accident, alright?"

"Of course," Rei Ao replied with a reassuring smile, though inwardly, he couldn't deny his interest in Hiromi.

Sensing this was her chance to gauge Rei Ao further, Hiromi leaned forward. "There's something I feel I should share with you about Megumi," she began cautiously, glancing at her sister.

She knew Megumi wouldn't be thrilled about her bringing this up, but she felt it was necessary if they were serious. Megumi simply looked at Rei Ao, calm as ever, trusting that he wouldn't overlook her in any way.

With a slightly regretful smile, Hiromi continued, "Megumi's always had…a unique condition. Since she was young, people have often overlooked her, almost as if her presence just…blends away."

Hiromi's eyes softened as she recalled moments from Megumi's childhood. "Growing up with this condition has put her through a lot of difficult and sometimes dangerous situations."

"So my question to you is, Rei Ao, do you truly understand the challenges of being with Megumi? Are you willing to stand by her in the long run?"

Rei Ao met Hiromi's gaze, calm and confident. "I understand why you'd be concerned as her sister. But I assure you, Megumi's presence doesn't go unnoticed with me—it never has."

He gently took Megumi's hand in his, their fingers intertwining. Despite her serene expression, Rei Ao could feel her heartbeat racing. She was anything but calm, her feelings running deep beneath her steady exterior.

Watching this, Hiromi felt her doubts begin to ease. It seemed that, at last, Megumi had found someone who truly saw her for who she was.
