Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Uncontrollably Attracted to Her
Her heartbeat and complexion, which she had barely managed to stabilize, became chaotic once again.
The events of last night had left her completely unsure of how to face him now.
When the servant saw her, she immediately came forward with a smile, "Madam, breakfast has been reheated for you. Please go and eat."
"Uh... okay, thank you." She swallowed, forcing herself to head towards the dining room.
Wen Zhan, in his suit and dress shoes, bathed in the morning light, had a handsome profile that was sharply defined, three-dimensional and deep, even his hairline was clear and distinct, nothing short of perfect.
He seemed like a completely different person from the brute of last night.
It was this charming face that had initially led Mu Wanqing to willingly accept this marriage.
She had thought that over time, they could develop feelings and live out their days together.
But after two years, he still wouldn't even deign to look her in the eye.
Silently sitting down, she picked up a spoon and quietly, slowly began eating her porridge, quiet as a cat.
Yet deep down, Mu Wanqing was still contemplating divorce.
She was serious.
Although it felt unfair to their two children, with mismatched social statuses and a marital relationship on thin ice, continuing this dysfunctional marriage would only bring more pain to both of them.
Living in such a family environment would also affect the children's personalities and destinies.
After eating almost half of her porridge, she gritted her teeth internally and looked up at the man, "About what I said last night… give it some thought. Don't worry, I won't take any of your assets, nor will I take the children."
She thought this was enough to prove she had no ulterior motives.
Wen Zhan was initially looking at a financial magazine, sipping his tea nonchalantly.
Upon hearing her speak, he slowly set down his teacup, his clear and deep gaze suddenly growing dark.
He looked up at her, his expression blank, cold as frost.
Mu Wanqing's scalp tingled and her heart raced, but she forced herself to remain calm.
"Grandfather fainted and was hospitalized early this morning. His condition is not good. Do you really want to talk about divorce at this time, hoping that the old man will pass away sooner?"
"What?" Mu Wanqing's face changed drastically and her spoon fell from her hand as she looked worriedly at the icy man. "Grandfather fainted and was hospitalized? Did his condition suddenly worsen?"
Wen Zhan's expression turned even darker, "Not sure, we'll see what the doctor says."
Mu Wanqing lost all appetite for food, and if not for the fact that she needed to eat due to breastfeeding, she would have left immediately.
She picked up her bowl and hurriedly finished her porridge, then grabbed two buns, "Let's go, to the hospital."
Wen Zhan watched her, his gaze scrutinizing, his thin lips parted slightly as if he was about to say something but then stopped.
He truly didn't believe that this "granddaughter" with no blood relation would care so much about the grandfather.
It was simply because the old man had been instrumental in arranging this marriage; she was worried that after the grandfather's passing, there would be no one to support her and make decisions on her behalf.
She might be talking about divorce, but who really knew what she was thinking?
It could very well be a strategic retreat, scheming something.
With this thought, Wen Zhan's gaze towards her grew intensely repulsive, even regretting that he had been momentarily swayed last night and had gotten involved with her again.
Remembering last night's events, his expression became extremely complicated, and his gaze swiftly shifted away from her.
Because as long as he looked one more second, those shy and intimate images would uncontrollably flood into his mind, disturbing his thoughts.
Damn it! What kind of magic did this woman possess?
They left the house together.
There was a driver in front, and Mu Wanqing had no choice but to sit in the back, closely next to the man.
On the way, Wen Zhan received two phone calls, both from his company.
He was in a bad mood and spoke coldly and briefly before hanging up.
Mu Wanqing knew he was worried about his grandfather. She glanced secretly at his profile several times, and after a long while, she mustered up the courage to speak, "Grandfather's previous surgery was very successful. The doctor said that with good care, he could be fine for four or five years, and it has only been two years… He will definitely be alright."
Wen Zhan's brows were tightly knitted, and he slowly took a breath. Just as he was about to respond, his phone rang again.
This time, as he looked at the caller ID, his expression visibly relaxed before he answered gently, "Hello, Kejun…"
On the other end was a sweet and soft female voice, filled with concern and anxiety, "Zhan, I heard that Grandfather's condition suddenly worsened, and he was hospitalized?"
"Yes."
"How is the situation?"
"I am still on my way to the hospital, so I don't know yet."
"Then I'll come over too. Gu Xincheng left on a business trip early this morning. Even if he hurries back, he won't arrive until evening."
Gu Xincheng was Lu Kejun's husband and also Wen Zhan's childhood friend.
The three of them had grown up together, and Mr. Wen was like their own grandfather.
Wen Zhan spoke softly, "No need to bother, let him focus on his own work."
"Alright, I already told him; whether he comes back or not is up to him. Don't worry too much, Grandfather is blessed, he will definitely get through this safely." Lu Kejun offered comforting words from the heart.
Wen Zhan lowered his gaze, his expression softened, "Understood. It's raining, so let the driver take you, and take it slow on the road."
Sitting quietly beside, when Mu Wanqing heard these words, she felt a sting in her heart, as if ants had gently bitten her.
See, he indeed knows how to be gentle and considerate, but only to someone else's wife.
After the call ended, the carabin remained quiet.
Wen Zhan gripped his phone and was silent for two seconds before suddenly realizing something and looking back at the woman beside him.
Seeing her turn her face to look out of the car window, with her beautiful and graceful features calm and serene, it was clear that she did not care about the call he had just made. The words that were on the tip of his tongue were halted.
She had married him for status, position, and wealth—why would she care who he held in his heart?
So, there was no need to explain.

Upon arriving at the hospital, the two hurried to the ward.
Wen Zhan's mother, Jiang Lijuan, saw them and fixed her gaze solely on her son, asking displeasedly, "I notified you this morning; why did you only come now?"
The Wen Family was extensive, with many aunts, uncles, cousins—during the New Year, two large tables weren't enough to accommodate them all.
This was the crucial moment to show filial piety and to be seen.
Being late could lead to criticism.
Wen Zhan glanced into the ward through the glass window, seeing his father talking quietly with his uncle and cousin, and quickly muttered to his mother, "I was delayed by something this morning," then pushed the door and entered.
Mu Wanqing followed him, puzzled—hadn't he not gone to the office this morning? What could have delayed him?
A sudden realization struck her mind!
Could it be because she woke up late? Was he waiting for her?
But, given Wen Zhan's attitude towards her, he wouldn't be so caring and considerate, right?
As their son entered the ward, Jiang Lijuan naturally turned her gaze toward her daughter-in-law.
Mu Wanqing, sensing her gaze, promptly greeted politely, "Mother."
Jiang Lijuan looked at her daughter-in-law with a rather unpleasant expression, "Raising children is a woman's responsibility, and we have plenty of nannies and servants at home; don't let those trivial matters delay Wen Zhan."
Clearly, the mother-in-law attributed her son's late arrival to her daughter-in-law.
Mu Wanqing initially wanted to retort, but the surrounding was crowded with members of the Wen Family.
She suppressed her rising thoughts and spoke softly, "I'm going to see Grandfather."
"What's there to see? The old man just fell asleep; didn't you see everyone is outside?" Jiang Lijuan stopped her.
