CEO Daddy Begs Mommy for Remarriage

Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Wen Zhan, Let's Get a Divorce

It was two o'clock in the morning when Mu Wanqing, who had just fallen asleep, was woken up again by the cries of the children.

She sat up wearily, took her younger sister from the nanny's arms, and opened the front of her nightgown with practiced ease.

The room quieted down again, and just as she was drifting off with her eyes closed, there was another noise at the door.

Expecting the nanny carrying the brother from the twin pair, she turned her head only to see a familiar figure.

Mu Wanqing's heart tightened as her gaze met the man's handsome and indifferent face, freezing her.

At two o'clock in the morning, her husband finally deigned to come home...

Two hours earlier that day had been their second wedding anniversary. Obviously, he had completely forgotten.

Wen Zhan met her gaze, and there was a brief pause in his eyes before both parties tactfully looked away.

The man's long legs carried him into the bedroom, and soon a strong scent of alcohol wafted through the air.

Mu Wanqing frowned in displeasure at the drunken man.

Wen Zhan approached, noticed the empty baby cot, and asked in a low voice, "Where's the son?"

Without lifting her head, the woman coldly replied, "Aunt Zhou has taken him to soothe."

As her words settled, the room felt even more silent, but Mu Wanqing's tired brain became fully alert.

Standing aside, Wen Zhan said nothing more, yanking off his tie and methodically unbuttoning his shirt one by one.

He didn't deliberately look at the woman, but the glow of her milky white skin beneath her open nightgown caught his attention.

The baby sucked on the breast milk, the swallowing sounds gulp gulp distinctly clear in the silent night, and the hearty eating made it strangely appetizing, tempting him to taste her "ration" out of curiosity.

Realizing what he was thinking, Wen Zhan felt an agitation in his heart and cursed himself for being perverted, then turned and walked toward the bathroom.

A loud "bang" on the bathroom door not only startled Mu Wanqing but also made the plump little body in her arms shiver.

The woman looked at the tightly shut bathroom door, her brow furrowed in cold disdain—Crazy! No one provoked him!

Her phone "dinged", diverting her attention.

In the middle of the night, it surely was a spam message.

Yet when she picked up her phone, her head exploded as if she had been slapped.

"Wen Zhan drank too much, make him some sobering tea, otherwise he'll have a headache tomorrow morning."

Sender—Lu Kejun.

Mu Wanqing stared at the screen for a while, her fingers gripping the phone uncontrollably tight, her knuckles turning white.

It was a blatant challenge and humiliation from her rival, clearly implying: Look, your husband is with me.

And that commanding tone, treating her like a maid as if Lu Kejun herself was the lady of the house.

After a while, Mu Wanqing calmed down, suppressed the frustration in her chest, and replied, "How about I step down and give you the Mrs. Wen's spot?"

There was no further response on the other end, probably infuriated—after all, Lu Kejun was also a married woman.

Mu Wanqing put down her phone, her expression faint.

Though she had won this round, her heart still felt heavily blocked.

On their second wedding anniversary, her husband was merrily drinking with the woman he loved until late into the night...

What were they talking about? Was Lu Kejun's husband also there? Or was it just the two of them alone?

A pile of questions crowded her mind...

In the bathroom, Wen Zhan stood under the showerhead, the steamy water cascading down his lean and muscular body, washing away his fatigue and drunkenness but inexplicably awakening a bit of desire.

He closed his eyes, his handsome face against the water flow, his mind involuntarily replaying the scene he had just witnessed—clearly a scheming woman, but in that moment, she was radiating a mother's glow.

Damn it!

Wen Zhan's expression became icy as he adjusted the water temperature.

Soon, the cold water poured down, the irritation, gloom, and even the hunger in his eyes vanished completely, leaving only indifference and detachment.

He intentionally lingered in the bathroom, hoping to wait until the woman outside had fallen asleep before leaving.

But he had underestimated the challenge of nursing two babies at the same time.

When the bathroom door opened, Mu Wanqing had just finished feeding her son, and the daughter who was fed earlier had already been taken to sleep by the nanny.

She didn't even glance at the man as she carefully positioned their son beside her on the bed.

Carrying the chill of cold vapor, his tall and proud figure approached, an oppressive presence as he came toward the bed.

The mattress shifted slightly.

Her heart also trembled a bit.

Though they had been husband and wife for two years, their interactions could be counted on one hand, and every shared moment, she was cautious.

Their union wasn't built on an emotional foundation, and their families were unequal in status as well.

Her marrying into a wealthy family was due to the life-saving friendship between the elders of their families.

Decades ago, Wen Zhan's grandfather and her grandfather were war veterans. On the battlefield, her grandfather risked his life to save Master Wen and even lost a leg, leaving him disabled.

After their service, the two old men lost contact.

It was only in the past few years when her grandfather was critically ill and hospitalized that Master Wen found his old war buddy, but tragically, her grandfather passed away just days after reuniting.

Master Wen felt extremely guilty, thinking that had he found his old friend sooner, he could have repaid the kindness more.

This guilt immediately translated into affection for Mu Wanqing, and from then on, Master Wen treated her like his own granddaughter.

Unfortunately, two years ago, Master Wen was diagnosed with stomach cancer, with not much time left.

His only wish before his death was to see his buddy's granddaughter well settled.

"It's best water doesn't flow into others' fields," thought the old man, and thus, he actively pushed for Wen Zhan and Mu Wanqing to be together, hoping it would work out.

Under this pressure, their marriage was formed.

However, Wen Zhan already had someone in his heart, and Mu Wanqing also knew she was out of her league.

They had planned to cooperate until the old man passed away, after which they would amicably divorce.

But life had other plans, as they unexpectedly became intimate and, incredibly, she became pregnant with twins.

Getting a divorce seemed no longer so simple.

Where this marriage was headed now, no one knew...

Every time Wen Zhan returned, Mu Wanqing prepared herself for him possibly suggesting divorce, her heart hanging in suspense.

But in reality, he barely deigned to speak to her.

Just like tonight, although sharing the same bed, the icy atmosphere was enough to freeze the air in the room solid.

In the suffocating silence, Mu Wanqing made sure her son was asleep before her patting hand finally withdrew.

Having wet her inner garment earlier while nursing, she reached for a soft tissue to tuck it in and promptly turned off the bedside lamp.

Under the influence of wine, Wen Zhan was already lying down, straight as a rod, eyes closed, breathing deep.

Mu Wanqing sat back and stole a glance at him. Seeing that he was asleep, she began to quietly adjust her damp nightgown in the darkness.

Just as she was finishing, the silent, pitch-black night was suddenly pierced by the man's discontented voice, "What are you still fussing about? Go to sleep!"

Startled, she quickly turned to explain, "Just a moment..."

Laying next to her sleeping son, afraid of squashing the little one, she instinctively moved towards the man's side in her nervousness, accidentally moving too close, and as she lay down, her hand inadvertently pressed on his arm.

"Hisss—"

The woman was shocked, quickly apologizing, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, you..."

Wen Zhan was furious, "The bed is so big, why do you have to be next to me?"

Mu Wanqing was taken aback by his sudden anger but quickly regained her composure and explained again, "I just didn't want to press on our son. Since you dislike me so much, I can go to another room."

That was the bitter truth.

After all, there was no love between them, why should they share a bed.

The house had plenty of rooms, so why couldn't she sleep elsewhere?

Hearing this, Wen Zhan, even in the darkness, seemed to radiate intense dissatisfaction, "Mu Wanqing, what right do you have to send me away? Do you think having twins secures your position as the mistress?"

"That's not what I meant."

"So what did you mean?"

It was almost 3 in the morning, Mu Wanqing, worn out from nursing several times through the night, had no desire to argue with him. After a brief silence, she suddenly said, "Wen Zhan, let's get a divorce."
