CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror

Chapter 109: Bounty Reward

Overnight, Selina's Ranking on the Bronze Board jumped from no.98 to no.66, skipping almost 30 ranks.

Francesca was sitting in her office, leaning against her red leather chair when the changes happened. She was leader of Obscure Association, a Silver Hunter organization and the direct competitor to the Atlas Seven.

"That girl. She just went up thirty ranks. That means she must have completed a very difficult mission. She is strong and she has potential."

Francesca stood up and walked out the room.

"Have you found out the identity of that new entry yet?" She asked the man in the black suit standing guard outside.

"Unfortunately, her information is very secure. But we do know that a detective in Aeliz City was the one that registered her."

"And if we find that detective. We'll find that Psychic. Prepare the plane."

"Yes, ma'am."

In the Atlas building, John wrecked the room to pieces as he heard about what happened with Mateo.

"That useless fucker! She's a Bronze! A Bronze Hunter! And he let her beat him up?! What nonsense is this?!"

The secretary from before hid herself behind a pillar. She didn't dare speak or pop her head out. Shaw was famously short tempered. No one wanted to be hurt by him.

"Get out here, Olivia!" Shaw shouted.

"I'm here, Mr. Shaw." The secretary rushed out.

Shaw turned into a blur and pushed her to the wall. "My name! My name is Titan. Do you understand?"

Shaw's lips quivered when he said that.

"I understand, Mr. Sh… I meant Titan."

Shaw got out of her face. "And that Diver can't even deal with an amateur."

Olivia adjusted her glasses slightly. "According to what we know, that girl has a familiar and it is very powerful. She only has a defensive ability."

Shaw took a deep breath in. "We have most of the Rankings in the Bronze Board. If she continues to climb, our stocks will drop. What is her ranking now?"

Olivia fumbled on her touch pad. She widened her eyes. Her lips fluttered but she didn't say anything.

"Say it!" Shaw screamed.

"She is in the top 66 now."

Shaw grabbed his hair and kicked a table so hard it was stuck inside the wall.

"What is her identity?"

"We don't know yet. But the Aeliz Police Department may know."

"Give them some donations. Tell them it is our contribution to public safety."

"I will do it right away, sir."

Even in Aeliz City, everyone in the Police Department was gossiping about Selina.

"Did you see? She is in the top 66 now." Cole leaned over the table, the other hand holding a cup of coffee.

Carpenter was distracted. She looked out the window outside.

"Oh… What were you saying?" Lucy smiled halfheartedly.

Cole rolled his eyes. "You really should get some rest. It is affecting your duty."

"I'll try."

"I was saying that our famous paranormal investigator is in the top 66 of the Bronze Board. She should be Silver in no time. But I don't understand. Why does she never reveal herself to the public?" Cole took a sip from his coffee.

Carpenter caressed her arms. The AC was very cold for some reason that day in the ACPD.

"Maybe it is better that way." Carpenter said.

She didn't say everything in her head though. 'Paranormal Investigator is something the public doesn't know about. They only know private investigators. Selina has some background, sure. But she doesn't have anyone backing her up. Her famous mother has been missing for years now. Her father went on a journey to find her mother and also disappeared. She has no one. Martinez has a family of powerful people backing her.

Selina is really similar to me… We have no one."

Just as Carpenter was losing in deep thoughts. Cole gave her a cup of coffee he brewed for her.

"Just how you like it. Half the milk and very little sugar."

"Thank you, Cole." Carpenter smiled gently.

Selina woke up and checked her accounts.

"Holy shit!"

The black cat stretched his body then popped his head up, looking at Selina's phone. It was just showing how much she just made from the Bounty in the Onoke Swamp.

Sheriff Carter really was sufficient.

"50,000 credits? The rulers of this world really are generous." Mater meowed.

"50,000 credits are almost a year's salary for someone. We're rich, Mr. Mater! We're rich!"

Selina said in a high pitch. She grabbed Mater and flung him to the air repeatedly because of excitement.

The black rested its chin on its paw while flying up and down on the bed. Its face was completely unhinged.

"How many tokens did they give you anyway?" Mater's deep voice echoed.

"Oh, right! I haven't checked that yet."

The Bounty in the Onoke Swamp rewarded Selina 50,000 credits and 100 tokens. She officially had 357 tokens in her account.

As for money, Selina had around 57,000 credits and some change.

"100 tokens, huh? Well. It's only logical because you have solved a multiple decades old case. We have also killed most of the wraiths in that area as well." The black cat's deep voice echoed.

"Ugh. Speaking with Chaos is exhausting. I will bring Aurora out for her to translate."

With a flick of his paw, Aurora jumped out from the Dark Grimoire.

"Aurora! Look how much money we made!"

Selina showed the wight the new number in her account. The wight was mostly emotionless but she did react from time to time.

They spent a few days in Ines Sota because the DSI was coming to the Onoke Swamp and investigated the area. Selina also went and met them and provided a full report about what happened.

Mater and her had already devised a suitable report for her to submit.

It was the first time that Selina was so close to the DSI as well. She thought they would be similar to the men in black suits in the Institute. But they were just normal looking people who wore exclusively tailored clothes.

A few of them even complimented Selina for her works. Of course, some agents tried to touch Mater, which he blatantly discriminated against. The black cat had a type and only let beautiful women touch him.

On the third day, Sheriff Carter called her in the office to give her a medal from Ines Sota.

It was a medal made from pure silver.

"It's not much. But it is what we have. I hope you don't dislike it." Carter said.

"Of course I don't, Sheriff. I appreciate it. Thank you."

She and Mater left town on the same day. Their work here was done and they needed to get back to Aeliz.

Selina's university life was also coming. Bash also needed an Infernal Shrine to recover to full. The road was peaceful all the way through.
