NOVEL NEXT Chapter 108: Bounty Completed
Mateo pointed his palms at Selina. Waves of shockwaves shot out from him.
"Oh? A new type of Psychic attack?" Mater focused back to the battle.
Selina's tattoo lit up and materialized a shield around her. The shockwaves smacked on the shield and were dissolved.
"A GAIM?! Shit, girl. I didn't think you were that rich." Mateo smirked.
The man placed his hand on the ground. The shockwaves travelled through the ground. They carved out a hole beneath Selina and made her fall inside.
"Eek!" Selina shouted as she and the barrier fell into the hole.
"Please, you two. There is no need for this fight." Sheriff Carter said.
"Shut up, old man!" Mateo shouted.
Selina used Chaos Tentacles and plunged them into the ground, copying what Becky had done previously.
Those red tentacles shot up around Mateo and grabbed at him.
"Brain Freeze? You think this lame skill works against me, girl?!"
Shockwaves released out of Mateo's body and destroyed the Tentacles.
Selina used Chaos Flesh to make her feet stronger and jumped out of the hole. The cat almost fell off her but Selina caught it.
Mateo also used Chaos Flesh to reinforce his body. He jumped from where he was to in front of Selina.
"You have a Gaim, so what? You're still a noob!"
Mateo punched onto the barrier. Shockwaves followed his strike and struck onto the barrier. The barrier held strong and didn't even have a crack but he did successfully send Selina flying.
She and Mater smacked on a tree.
"You said you deal with the wraith? A useless fucker like you? Please, don't make me laugh." Mateo kept taunting Selina.
The black cat was really pissed off. Mater jumped off of Selina's arm and looked at her. Selina obviously couldn't deal with Mateo.
Mater meowed softly, "Do you want me to deal with this idiot?"
Mater didn't speak human tongue but Selina still understood. She nodded. "Yes. Deal with him."
Selina deactivated the shield.
"What? Are you giving up already?" Mateo laughed out loud.
The black cat walked up to him. Mateo curiously looked down at the cat.
"Huh?"
Mater opened his mouth and shouted. The soundwave sent Mateo flying backwards and rolled on the ground.
Night just passed and dawn arrived. The sun started climbing up in the far East, shining the first few beams of sunlight to the ground beneath.
Sunlight caught onto Mateo's face as he struggled to get up. Mater's Desperation Scream made his nose bleed.
"You?! A familiar. I see." Mateo clenched his fist tight.
"I knew that cat wasn't normal." Sheriff Carter mumbled.
Mateo didn't give up yet. He raised his hands and shot shockwaves at Mater.
The black cat raised its hands and used Elemental Shield. Dirt moved up and formed a floating earth shield in front of him.
The Earth Shield absorbed the shockwaves.
"More ability?!" Mateo widened his eyes.
He directed his energy into his feet and ran around Mater. Mateo continued to shoot shockwaves at the black cat.
The Earth Shield followed him closely and blocked all the shockwaves.
The black cat yawned and didn't seem to even be bothered by Mateo.
"This fucking cat! You've done it!"
Mateo looked to the lake and raised his hands. The water from the lake floated up and split into several spinning spirals. They surrounded Mater and shot at him from all directions.
"Water Skill, huh? At least you are a little bit capable."
The black cat flicked its paw and deactivated the Earth Shield. In its place, a pink dome of hexagons appeared. All the water spirals dug into the shield but weren't able to get past it.
"Let's end this stupid parade."
Mater opened his palm. A black sphere shot up and floated slightly above the black fur.
'What is that?!' Mateo widened his eyes.
The black cat threw the ball at Mateo. The Silver Hunter shot a shockwave at it. Only for the ball to explode into a veil of darkness and blinded Mateo.
"My eyes! My eyes!"
The man stumbled around in fear. The black cat already approached him.
Mater didn't want to use Nether Spheres or Hellfire Pit. He didn't know if this idiot could even take them and survive. So the cat stuck with Desperation Scream.
He shouted and drove Mateo onto the ground. The man could feel his bones being crushed under the pressure.
Mater didn't stop there. He continued to assault Mateo until he was completely unconscious. Countless bones on Mateo's body were broken.
"Weak ass bastard. And you dare to cause us trouble?!" The black cat spat on the unconscious Mateo and walked away with a smug face.
Selina picked him up and kissed him on the cheek passionately. "You're so good, Mater! You're the best!"
"I only did it for you, woman." The black cat rolled his eyes.
Sheriff Carter wiped his sweat and approached the two of them. "Um…"
The two of them turned toward Carter. He swore their eyes were burning with killing intentions.
"It is obviously self-defense." Sheriff Carter said.
"Yup. That idiot provoked us first."
Sheriff Carter nodded. "I can bear witness to that. About that NCE…"
"Oh yeah. I told you before. It was some scientist trying to fuse himself with an NCE. All the information is available in the hidden lab at the bottom of the lake."
"There are other very dangerous wraiths in the swamp as well…"
"We dealt with them all, Sheriff. You can rest assured."
The Sheriff smiled and took his hat off. "You are one reliable Bounty Hunter, Miss Isles. All of the people in Ines Sota are grateful for your contribution. Even if they don't know you did it.
If I may, Miss Isles. I would like to give you a medal from the Sheriff Office. It would take a few days for me to order the smith to make it. Would you like to stay in town for a few more days?"
"No biggie, Sheriff. I'll stay. I need to submit a report once the DSI comes here anyway."
Carter nodded. "I will contact them right away. Once again, thank you, Miss Isles."
Selina smiled gently. She and Mater went out of the swamp shortly after. They hadn't gotten any sleep since yesterday. The two of them went back to the motel, unbeknownst to the chaos running around because of what just happened.
