Cardinal: God Spell

Chapter 11: Interstellar Elite Squads (FP)- The truth of Yagi Takada

The rest of the showcase passed without much incident as Hei-Jin had left and none of the other Instructors looked down on the students the way Hei-Jin did, maybe as a result of Sora's display, only they would know. Sora created a basketball-sized fireball on his palm so as not to reveal too much this early on in his magic career but the skill and speed he cast the spell impressed everyone, students and instructors alike, and that's ignoring the power of his spell that was at least 2 times stronger than most spells of it's level simply because of the casting method.

In the end, Hei-Jin returned when it was time for the students to select a captain for their squad from class 1A. Sister Ruth picked Xiao Feifei who showed by far the most promise with her creative and controlled use of her plant spell as well as the sheer potential she had with the quality of the plant element she awakened.

Mu Yerin picked the Fire mage Wei Mucheng, simply for the fact that she had the strongest Fire element after Sora, which was surprising because had awakened one of the 4 great flame talents, the golden flames of destruction.

Hei-Jin went on to pick Li Yan who also awakened Earth as his first element to see how he could guide this high potential earth mage on the beaten path of a mage. Last but not least; Takada selected Chen Piso as his squad captain, he respected the kid's guts and appreciated the potential firepower he would bring to the squad, now it was a matter of seeing how good the boy's judgment was.

The remaining members of Sister Ruth's squad were, Mu Xiong the shadow mage, Han Junjie the fire mage, Marron Lin the healing mage and Mu Rina the Ice mage.

The remaining members of Mu Yerin's squad include; Xiao Lubu the plant mage, Ma Quinin the space mage, Wei Yilin the water mage and Zhu Longwei the Lightning mage.

The remaining members of Hei-Jin's squad included; Kun Qing the earth mage, Ma Juri the lightning mage, Jun Quong the light mage, and Wei Xiren the fire mage.

The last squad under Yagi Takada included Xiao Li the plant mage, Yubin Kang the shadow mage, Zhu Tantai the wind mage and Sora the fire, and lightning, mage. and with the four Elite squads had been formed. The first order of business was for the squads to hold a welcome event hosted by their respective tutors to go over squad formations, roles, and general duties.

Yagi Takada's squad held their welcome event in Class 1E he could still be the Homeroom tutor of Class 1E and the squad leader of the Elite Squad Y. When the members of Squad Y got to the class Takada was still holding the last role call for Class 1E before they could go and practice their cultivation for the day. Yu Narong's eyes immediately landed on Sora with a worried look that passed as quickly as it came, a look that none of the Elite students missed out on but decided not to comment on.

"So this is the bottom level of the 1st year", he said aloud with a pondering expression on his face, "Could be worse I guess" " he said before noticing the weird looks he was receiving from the other Elite students. He was confused and looked back at the class to see them glaring daggers at him, suddenly realizing what happened and didn't apologize and had no intention to, just because he defended Longwei didn't mean that he didn't look down on his class group, frankly, he would probably treat Longwei the same as then If he wasn't part of the Zhu Dynasty.

"You lot should get stronger if you have a problem with it, maybe you might somehow climb the ranks in the distant future and make something of yourselves", Piso doubled down as he genuinely couldn't care less for this bunch. It's not like he insulted them per se, he mostly just said what was true. "Leave it Piso", Sora said with a frown as he had a conflicting impression of the young man. "Ah, right, I don't mean current elite students for obvious reasons, but even you can admit that these lot haven't made much progress towards their second stars at all, even Long and Rina only have to shape and fuse their 2nd stars to be considered early stage Basic mages.

"Annoying as this guy is he's not wrong, the strongest one of these lot is only at 45% of their second star complete, if they can't do better they don't have any choice but to swallow their anger and improve", Zhu Tantai said with a look of pity. Sora didn't mind this anymore though. "You guys are a lot stronger than you were during the Qualification exam, how did you do that??", Sora suddenly asked.

He hadn't noticed before but not just these guys, but the Elite students of Class 1E all had very sudden and large improvements to their cultivation, It was one thing for them to grow rapidly out of motivation, but for all of them to have this ridiculous growth and for the Elite students to also be able to smoothly cast magic with the control that they did it was clear that he had missed out on something. Also, what was that look of pity that Narong gave him when he walked in?

The rest of the class went silent, forgetting their anger at Piso's earlier remarks. "Explain this!!", Sora declared in anger, It was one thing for one or 2 talents to have family secrets that helped them grow, but something like this could only be the result of school-provided resources. Firstly, none of the students in this class had shown the potential for their families to drown them in resources just yet, and on the odd chance that they had they wouldn't be able to be at this meager level and still bear their family names in public as families usually overdo it with supporting their mages.

"If you lot don't answer my squad mate in the next 10 seconds I'm going to start roasting you all with Divine lightning", Piso threatened straightforwardly, Not only were these talentless runts sullying the name of the Interstellar magic academy with their weakness, but they even went as far defrauding their most talented classmate, to him who believed the strong needed support to help better defend the commoners of the world it was an unacceptable crime to deny talented mages the resources to develop themselves.

"I'll stop you all there", Takada interrupted before things got too serious, "Sora's resources have been withheld so he could be Investigated", Takada explained as simply as possible. "Your classmates felt that your results were unnatural and reported you for cheating in the Elite class qualification exam, as such they left a report to the school, and over the next 3 months you will be denied the extra resources you would have received for the exemplary results you achieved in the exam as well as the extra support you would have received for being in the Elite class itself... This was done so the school wouldn't be unfairly giving you a heavy advantage over your peers on the instance you were indeed cheating", Takada summarised all that he knew about the situation.

Piso began to sweat mildly as he knew for a fact that Sora's results were real, he had experienced them himself when it was time for Sora's display, but at the same time, Takada's claiming that the power Sora used to overpower Hei-Jin came from a magic device only served to further incriminate him of potentially cheating in his elite qualification exam. That wasn't why he was worried though, he could feel an unidentified pressure building up the more Takada spoke and he was pretty sure that it was Sora's anger, It was so much that Piso was genuinely trembling a bit.

"Don't try anything rash Sora, If you attempt to attack even a single student in this class today I will personally have you removed from my squad and vouch for you to be kicked from the elite class as a whole", Takada continued, "I'm sure Narong will be just as effective as you within this squad... I have no idea how a nobody like you survived in such a state but since you're alive I will make sure none of our academy's resources are wasted on you", Takada said before turning to face his squad.

This time Piso was confused, wasn't Takada on Sora's side?? He even went out of his way to lie to cover up for Sora's weird talent to have 2 elements despite being a basic mage. Why was he suddenly holding that over Sora's head?? "So that's what happened that day... It turns out the families of those present hired you to finish the job that day, you sent the masked brats to the job instead since the task was beneath you and went yourself to confirm it was done huh??", Sora stated with an indifferent look on his face.

One should not be fooled though, his expression being calm would not hide the burning fury and hatred in his eyes, but he knew he was beaten this time, Takada was both a teacher and an Advanced mage, he was an established mage from humble background with the backing of the families of everyone present today. A basic mage Orphan who is suspected of cheating like him would never come out on top in this situation, he would not be able to beat Takada, and he would not be able to get revenge on the shameless pieces of shit that lied to suppress his strength and growth.

"That about covers it, and I would advise the rest of you to stay out of it, The Zhu family was the instigator of all of this so I'm sure you know what all of this means for your captain Chen Piso", Takada said with a cold glare at Chen Piso. Piso who was confused about the whole thing suddenly became conflicted internally, he began to suspect foul play regarding Hei-Jin's treatment of the lightning students. At the end of the day though, If the Zhu family marked Sora as an enemy, then no matter what is said and done, He would follow his 'brothers' and 'sisters' of the Zhu dynasty down this ungrateful and sinister route.
