Cannon fodder in the Interstellar

Chapter 288 - Reuniting with an Old Friend

Hebrew Adam and the others saw those people chattering away, but they couldn’t understand, so they looked to Ruo Manni, who could.

Ruo Manni naturally understood her companions’ meaning. Since carrying someone was inconvenient, she gestured for them to look toward the direction of the city.

Actually, Ruo Manni had noticed it earlier than them, but because Wang Miaomiao’s situation was urgent, she had focused on treating her first. Now that Wang Miaomiao was no longer in danger after being detoxified, she was ready to leave.

Following Ruo Manni’s indication, the elite group looked toward the city. “Wow!” Dean Atchison couldn’t help but exclaim, and the others had looks of disbelief on their faces.

“Why are there two different kinds of humans in this world?” Sheila asked, her eyes a bit pained.

“The zombie horde is coming. We should leave quickly,” Liu Yang said nervously.

Ruo Manni looked at the dense group of strange humans approaching them from a distance. Fortunately, they were moving slowly. If they were any faster, it would be hard to escape if surrounded, and they would have to fight their way out.

Ruo Manni held Wang Miaomiao in her arms and started heading back the way they came. She told her companions, “Let’s go.”

The elite group didn’t need further urging. As soon as she moved, they followed closely behind.

“Um, miss, let me carry Miaomiao,” Liu Yang said, seeing Ruo Manni preparing to carry Wang Miaomiao. He sounded anxious.

But a girl was carrying someone so easily, walking effortlessly, while Liu Yang couldn’t keep up with her. Even in the slightly chilly weather, he was sweating from his anxiety.

“Let’s get to a safe place first, then we’ll talk. You guys take the car, and we’ll walk. My car is up ahead. Don’t worry, I won’t just take her away like this,” Ruo Manni said calmly to Liu Yang and the others.

Then, she quickly left, with the elite group following closely behind.

“Are they still human? Even cars can’t move that fast,” Ruo Manni heard someone behind her say in a tone full of disbelief.

“These people are definitely top-tier experts. In this world, to encounter such individuals who even helped us, and you’re still complaining? Hurry up and catch up.”

Ruo Manni, holding Wang Miaomiao, quickly led her companions out of the sight range of the others.

After running for another five or six minutes, Ruo Manni estimated that even if those people were driving, it would take at least ten more minutes for them to catch up, so she stopped.

Once Ruo Manni stopped, she took out her phantom vehicle and transformed it into a very ordinary-looking, large RV typical of Earth.

Since they had a large group, she made it resemble a large bus on the outside, which would give more space inside.

Hebrew Adam also had a similar vehicle, so he transformed his into an identical one.

The twelve of them separated into two vehicles, three couples per vehicle, and the other six single people in another vehicle.

The elite group had never ridden such a small flying vehicle before, but they knew they had to adapt to the local customs. The mechanical vehicles those people had were much smaller than theirs.

“Tamaki, you and Sheila go to the cockpit and pretend to drive. Place your hands on the circular steering wheel. If you don’t understand what to do, use telekinesis to observe how those people are driving,” Ruo Manni instructed.

“Dean, the same goes for your vehicle. Arrange for two people to pretend to drive. This world’s mechanical vehicles don’t have autopilot.”

After giving her instructions, Ruo Manni boarded the vehicle first, with Sheila and Mina-Olli following her. The three girls quickly changed Wang Miaomiao into clean clothes and used the treatment device to bind her broken leg.

Once they were done, the three men boarded, and by that time, they could already hear the sound of cars coming from behind.

Others might not be able to tell, but Liu Yang must have been anxiously catching up, Ruo Manni thought to herself.

The RV was divided into two small living rooms, so everyone wouldn’t have to sit there awkwardly staring at each other. Ruo Manni carried Wang Miaomiao into the innermost living room and placed her on the long sofa.

Meanwhile, Liu Yang and his group watched helplessly as the group of young expert teens ran at incredible speeds, quickly disappearing from sight.

Wang Miaomiao was in the hands of that black-haired girl. Liu Yang urgently urged everyone to hurry and drive to catch up.

The zombie horde was not far away, so the others naturally didn’t dare to delay, quickly getting into the vehicles and heading in the direction the teens had run.

After about ten minutes of driving, Liu Yang began to feel anxious. Just then, he spotted two large black RVs parked by the side of the road, seemingly waiting for them.

“Wow, who are these people? These RVs must be worth at least a few million each! In this world, to be so ostentatious and drive around like this, it’s way too arrogant,” Liu Yang heard one of his companions say with envy and jealousy.

“Did you not see their skills? Have you ever seen anyone better than them? Not just one or two, but twelve of them, all so strong. Who would dare to mess with them?” someone else sneered at the jealous remark.

A foreign teenager with dark brown hair and black eyes stood by the door of the RV and pointed at Liu Yang with his finger. In a strange accent, he said, “Liu Yang, come here.”

Liu Yang guessed that Wang Miaomiao must be in that RV, so he immediately ran over and followed the foreign teenager inside.

The inside of the RV was spacious, at least 30 square meters. It was divided into two activity areas, and despite the six people inside, it didn’t feel cramped at all.

Wang Miaomiao was lying on the sofa, quietly asleep. Her clothes had already been changed, and she was covered with a blanket.

Liu Yang, feeling a bit worried, walked over to her. Only when he saw that Wang Miaomiao was in a peaceful sleep did he finally breathe a sigh of relief.

However, Liu Yang still wasn’t fully reassured. He reached out and touched her forehead, confirming that she no longer had a fever. Only then did the tight knot in his heart loosen.

“Thank you for saving our lives,” Liu Yang said to Ruo Manni, who was sitting on the sofa across from him.

Liu Yang was truly grateful. If it hadn’t been for this girl’s intervention today, both he and Miaomiao would surely have met their end.

Liu Yang could tell that if this girl hadn’t taken the lead, this group might not have come to their aid, so he directly thanked her.

As for the blonde boy sitting beside the girl, who seemed to exude a strong sense of possessiveness, Liu Yang quietly thought to himself that he was probably the girl’s boyfriend. He suspected that among everyone in this group, the blonde boy was the strongest.

Ruo Manni leaned back against the sofa and replied indifferently, “I helped because she’s Wang Miaomiao, not because of you. Who are you to her?”

“I’m her boyfriend. Do you know Miaomiao?” Liu Yang asked.

Liu Yang thought to himself that he and Miaomiao had been together for so long, yet he had never heard of her having any friends or relatives abroad.

“I know her through Lin Kexin,” Ruo Manni said.

“Lin Kexin! You know Lin Kexin! How is she doing? Miaomiao hasn’t been able to contact her for a year,” Liu Yang said, surprised by how this girl knew Miaomiao.

“You know Lin Kexin too?” Ruo Manni raised an eyebrow.

“Miaomiao was very close to Lin Kexin during college. I was a senior to them. Back then, Lin Kexin was often the third wheel when Miaomiao and I hung out,” Liu Yang said.
