Chapter 79: Longer End
"~Calm down. There is no need to panic," Yu Tian spoke through voice transmission.
"~Could it be... did you anticipate this?" she asked.
"~Well, somewhat," Yu Tian replied. This was a little different from what he had predicted, but it should still be fine.
"~Then, what do we do now?" she asked.
"~About what?" Yu Tian asked in confusion.
"~The Dark Moon Hall, of course," she said.
"~Ah, it's just Golden Core cultivators. Each sect has their own Golden Core cultivators. They can fight it out," he said.
"~What about the Nascent Soul realm ancestor?" she asked.
"~Don't worry about him. He won't attack for now," Yu Tian said.
"~Why not?" she asked.
"~Since he's afraid of the talisman, he won't show himself. Even so, he won't let this disrespect go and will send loads of cultivators to seek justice," Yu Tian said.
"~Didn't you hear what she just said? The talisman is no more," Xueling said.
"~And? He doesn't know that. As long as you don't tell him, nothing will happen," Yu Tian said.
"~Ah, that makes sense," Xueling said.
She then proceeded to explain her thoughts to the three sect masters before her.
"So, what do you think?" she asked after explaining.
They all nodded. "This is indeed possible," Shuiruo said. "Even so, we still can't let our guard down. Even if he can't make a move himself, now that we've made the first move, he'll take this chance to get rid of us," she said. "He'll probably send loads of cultivators to swarm us and push us to the extent that we fall, or we have to use the nonexistent talisman. If we fall, it's good for him, and if we use the talisman, it's also good for him as he can come take over without any fear," she said.
Yu Tian thought to himself that this was what he had deduced too. Well, this was where his services came in. Before, he was thinking that he'd stay poor forever and only be able to rely on alchemy as it was peaceful times. But now, he had created war times where his other skills would also be required.
"Alright, I understand the situation," Xueling said. "Since we're also partly at fault for what happened, we'll lend you a hand," she said.
When the others heard this, their faces brightened considerably.
"How about this? We can sell you guys talismans, formations, and pills for half the price. Of course, for commissioned pieces, you'll have to pay full price," she said. "On top of that, any Dark Moon Hall sect members that go through our region will be instantly eliminated.
What do you think?" she asked.
"So they make talismans and formations too?" Shuiruo was in thought, but she dismissed that. The most important thing was the last part - they would eliminate all Dark Moon Hall members who entered their region. The Dark Moon Hall was in the west where the Righteous Sword Sect was located.
To attack the Eastern Valley Sect, they would almost always go through this region.
She glanced at Changfeng beside her, and he nodded. The Righteous Sword Sect was the closest to the Dark Moon Hall and would probably fall first if a war was to break out, and the other sects would be too busy defending themselves to help out.
But if the Snow Heaven Sect could help intercept those attacking the Eastern Valley Sect, then Changfeng could deploy some cultivators to support the Righteous Sword Sect. Of course, the Dark Moon Hall's sect members could always attack through another side, but since they couldn't go to the south where the Black Forest was, they would have to go towards her north region.
Changfeng just needed to support her region too, and they could handle it. As for the Snow Heaven Sect, they had said it themselves that they would handle it, so why should they worry about their methods? Besides, this was all their fault.
"We will do as the sect master says," the three said, rising and cupping their fists.
Xueling did the same.
The two parties looked at each other with smiles, each thinking they had gotten the longer end of the stick.
…
As the two parties were getting up to leave, Sword Saint Duan stood before Yu Tian, causing Xueling and the others to stop and look at them.
The Sword Saint drew his sword, bringing it before Yu Tian. Xueling instantly reacted, reaching for her own sword, but Yu Tian gestured for her to stop, to which she obeyed.
"I know that you are strong," the Sword Saint said. "But as the Sword Saint, I can't help myself. Would you be willing to exchange some moves with me? Just swordsmanship moves, of course," he said.
Yu Tian thought to himself that this guy had been staring at him all this time, so this is what he wanted. "What makes you think I'm a swordsman?" Yu Tian asked. He didn't carry his sword on his hip like Xueling and had not used it properly in the earlier battle.
"I'm not called the Sword Saint for nothing," he said. "I can see traces of training in the sword all over you, from your fingers, all the way to the way you move your body. Even when you stand, you're in the best possible position to enter a sword stance instantly," he said.
"I see," Yu Tian nodded. He then shifted his body slightly.
Sword Saint Duan was surprised. "This is..." This guy had actually fixed this flaw so fast. Although he let out no aura, this stance betrayed his skill, but after hearing it just once, he was able to instantly fix it. If he didn't know him and just met him, he would think it was just an unremarkable mortal.
Yu Tian thought to himself that it seemed his disguise wasn't perfect. With this, it would be much easier to play the pig in front of an expert. "Thank you for the advice," he said, cupping his fists. "How do you want to spar? Wooden or real?" he asked.
"Umm, let's try wooden first," he said.
Sword Saint Duan thought to himself that this guy was a monster. It was better to test the waters first.
Even the Mist Fairy was surprised by this. Sword Saint Duan, who was always so confident in his swordsmanship, actually suggested using wooden swords? Was he scared?
"Let the men be. There is something I want to discuss with you," Xueling said, appearing before Shuiruo.
"What a coincidence. There's something I want to talk to you about too."
