Chapter 29: New Boss
Yu Tian thought to himself that now that Xueling had recovered, all was well. As for the enemy, they didn't have to care about him anymore as he didn't stand a chance in the first place.
He looked at her.
"Is there anything you want to question him about?" he asked.
"Not really," she said indifferently.
"Alright," Yu Tian said as he got up, gesturing for her to do the same.
At the same time, outside their door, the man stood. He smiled wickedly, thinking to himself that at this time, the gift he had given them should've taken effect. He wondered what to do - should he kill them? Or should he deliver them alive?
He then thought of Xueling. She was quite pretty. Maybe he should have some fun with her. He was getting bored with mortal women who didn't last a night. His eyes shone with greed as he slowly pushed the door open.
The moment he did, he noticed the empty plates on the cart and his smile widened. There was a tiny doubt in him that they hadn't eaten the meals, but now this was dispelled. He quickened his pace, stepping into the room.
At that moment, his perspective shifted.
"Huh? Why is the world suddenly upside down?" he wondered.
He then saw his vision spin and blur, followed by a ringing sound in his ear. His eyes fluttered open, looking before him where he noticed his headless body standing in the doorway and Xueling staring at him expressionlessly from behind the door.
"Huh? What's happening?" was his last thought before he closed his eyes and was claimed by the darkness.
His headless body instantly fell down with a thud.
At that moment, Yu Tian, who was using concealment, revealed himself. He thought to himself that it ended much quicker than he had thought. It wasn't even a fight at all. Well, considering the difference in power, it made sense.
The man was just in the first layer of Foundation Establishment while Xueling was a whole major realm above that.
"What now?" she asked, looking around at the now bloodied room. They couldn't stay here.
"I'll go find that girl and have her clear another room for us," Yu Tian said.
As he was about to leave, she held his hand.
"Is something wrong?" he asked.
"You stay... I'll go find her," she said.
"Nice idea. If you can have her serve you and continue doing business here while reporting about the outer sect to you, it could help with dealing with your second brother," Yu Tian said, showing a thumbs up.
"Huh?" she asked in confusion.
"Isn't that why you want to talk to her instead?" he asked.
"Ah... right. Yeah, that's it," she said before running out.
Yu Tian watched her for a moment before turning around. He looked at the headless body. He held his chin, thinking to himself that he really didn't feel anything watching such a gory scene. It was the same for the Grand Elder and even the snake monster.
He wondered if it was because of his mind level.
[50%]
Well, it didn't really matter. Being shocked by these sorts of things would just be a hindrance, especially now that he was part of the cultivation world.
He walked over to the man and grinned. "Time to loot," he thought.
Before, with the Grand Elder, they hadn't had time to loot some good stuff, so he couldn't let this one slide. He thought to himself that Xueling was really a rich lady, not even caring to search the corpse.
"Well, don't mind if I do..."
…
Yu Tian leaned on the wall, looking at the spatial pouch in his hand. The man hadn't been that rich - he just had a healing pill, a poison manual, and two Foundation Building pills. He guessed the pills were remnants from his breakthrough to Foundation Establishment realm.
[100%]
It seemed he had broken through quite recently, seeing as he hadn't sold them yet.
[98%]
He thought to himself that not only did the man not stand a chance, he even had another debuff of having just recently broken through on top of that. No wonder he was so meticulous. The weak like him could only scheme.
He paid his respects to the man. In a way, they were quite similar in their methods. He was going to use his poison method to continue his cultivation. He hoped he wouldn't end up like the man, falling to another schemer despite all his schemes.
"What are you doing?"
At that moment, Xueling's voice came from behind him.
"Nothing," he said as he turned around to look at her. There was another girl beside her. He inspected her for a second before glancing back at Xueling. "Did you guys talk?" he asked.
"Yeah, I decided to do as you said," she said.
"Good," Yu Tian said. "Now you just have to slowly take over the outer sect."
The girl looked at the two of them. She thought to herself that this lady seemed to have quite the background, considering she could take down the boss that quickly without even making a sound. But why did it look like she was taking orders from this man?
She wondered if he was the real boss here.
At that time, she felt a sharp pain on her side. She glanced at Xueling, who gave her that "don't get any ideas" look.
She finally understood what was going on.
"I see, so that's how it is," she thought. Well, it didn't really matter to her.
"I'll arrange a new room for you," she said before leaving.
"Is she reliable?" Yu Tian asked.
"Don't worry, she won't betray me," Xueling said. Yu Tian didn't ask which method she used, just nodded. "That's good."
A few minutes later, the girl who was now the new boss came back and escorted them to their new room. Yu Tian looked around, thinking to himself that this one was much bigger than before. It even had a bath inside.
He settled into a meditative posture, then patted the area before him. "Come here," he instructed, and Xueling walked over.
"I'll help you stabilize your cultivation," Yu Tian said.
He thought to himself that since he couldn't get himself stronger at the moment, he should try making her stronger instead. Xueling didn't even ask - she had gotten used to Yu Tian's strange methods.
The two sat opposite each other and pressed their hands against each other, beginning energy circulation.
