“Building a Top-tier Safehouse in the Apocalypse”

Chapter 4: Customized food in five-star hotels

Zhang Yi and two others pushed three carts of supplies back to the neighborhood.

On the way, many neighbors saw the scene and couldn't help but start gossiping.

At this point, Zhang Yi didn't care about being discovered stockpiling supplies.

After all, those two green teas already knew about his shopping, so the news was impossible to keep secret.

If his only goal was to survive, he could sell all his assets and move to an isolated place to build an unbreakable fortress.

But how would he take revenge on the neighbors who had chopped him into pieces in his previous life?

If he didn't kill all those people, Zhang Yi's inner torment would never go away.

So, one of his doomsday plans was to stay in this neighborhood and take brutal revenge on everyone who had wronged him!

Of course, this plan depended on whether a security company could build him an unbreachable shelter.

Otherwise, he'd have to prepare a backup plan—building an underground shelter in a remote location.

Zhang Yi glanced at the surrounding neighbors, who were smiling and gossiping about his large purchase of supplies.

He could already picture the scene of these neighbors storming his house to loot his belongings when the apocalypse came.

He had experienced it all firsthand.

But this time, he wasn't afraid. He would prepare in advance and make them see his supplies but never touch them, leaving them seething with rage.

Zhang Yi and Fang Yuqing lived in the same apartment building.

As a warehouse manager at Walmart, Zhang Yi was often asked by his neighbors to help buy discounted goods.

As a result, everyone in the neighborhood knew him.

When they saw Zhang Yi and the others pushing back so many supplies, a grandmother out with her grandson approached.

Seeing the food and fresh beef and lamb in the cart, she became tempted.

"Xiao Zhang, why are you bringing back so many things? Is it from the warehouse clearance?"

"You can't finish all this. Why not share some with your neighbors?"

This was Grandma Lin, who worked at the property owners' committee. She often acted like a leader, ordering the neighbors around.

In the past, she frequently asked Zhang Yi to help her buy cheap discounted goods, always looking to take advantage.

In his previous life, she had even pestered Zhang Yi into giving her food.

But when the neighbors stormed Zhang Yi's house to loot, not only did she not stop them, but she was more aggressive than the young people.

Fang Yuqing and Lin Cainin, not wanting to provoke her, quickly said, "These are all Zhang Yi's purchases; we're just helping him deliver them."

Grandma Lin immediately turned her gaze to Zhang Yi, smiling and saying, "Xiao Zhang, these must be from the warehouse, right? How about sharing some with me?"

As she spoke, her grandson, Little Tiger, had already climbed onto one of the carts and grabbed a box of chocolates.

Though he was young, he had a sharp eye, immediately going for an imported box worth over 200 yuan.

Without a word, Zhang Yi snatched it back and coldly said to Grandma Lin, "Sorry, these are for my own use!"

Since doomsday was imminent, Zhang Yi couldn't even be bothered to act polite anymore.

Grandma Lin's face turned grim. "You…"

Zhang Yi's refusal to give her face as the neighborhood "leader" left her furious.

Her grandson, Little Tiger, started crying and yelling, "You're a bad man! Give me the chocolate, or I'll beat you up!"

Zhang Yi stared at him coldly and said sternly, "Say one more word, and I'll smack your mouth!"

Little Tiger was so frightened that he started bawling and throwing a tantrum on the ground.

Grandma Lin rushed to comfort him and angrily scolded Zhang Yi.

"You're a grown man; why are you fussing over a child?"

"It's just a box of chocolates! What's the harm in giving it to a child?"

"Why don't you give him a box? I'll pay you later. Who do you think is trying to take advantage of you?"

Zhang Yi sneered.

With mobile payments so convenient now, her promise to "pay later" was clearly a lie.

"I said these are for me. If he wants chocolates, go buy them at the store!"

Zhang Yi laughed coldly and walked away with Fang Yuqing and Lin Cainin.

Moments after they left, Grandma Lin's cursing echoed behind them.

Zhang Yi ignored it.

Grandma Lin lived alone with her grandson since her son and daughter-in-law worked elsewhere.

She usually only bought food for a day, so her supplies were the first to run out when the apocalypse came.

In his previous life, Zhang Yi had helped them out of kindness.

But in this life, without Zhang Yi's help, that immoral old woman and her mischievous grandson would be lucky to survive ten days.

Zhang Yi didn't care to argue with people doomed to die.

It wasn't that he was ruthless; survival in the apocalypse was already a massive challenge.

Other people's lives naturally ranked far behind his own.
