Chapter 74: The Martian and the Monster
Exterior – Central City – Crater
Wind howled through the ruined streets as Mr. Mars and Dravus stared each other down. The Earth groaned under the weight of power radiating from both of them.
Then...
They moved.
BOOM.
A sonic quake exploded as they clashed, fists meeting in a burst of red and black energy. Buildings kilometers away shattered like glass. The sky rippled.
Mars ducked under a strike and countered with a brutal uppercut, Dravus staggered, grinning.
They blurred across the city in flashes, fighting in the air, underground, underwater. Each hit collapsed landscapes. Every move echoed with the wrath of gods.
Mars gripped Dravus's throat and slammed him into a mountain range.
Dravus grinned through the impact. "More."
Mars spun, kicked him through three Mountains, and followed, punching Dravus across the seas.
WHAM.
They crashed back into Central City, both still standing.
The fight was equal.
Firestorms, quakes, antimatter beams, they tore through each other in a battle that outclassed any the Legion had ever seen.
@GalaxyVision_News:
Mars is matching him! Dravus isn't unstoppable after all!
@BubbleBoyBeliever77:
GO MARS GO! The Godkiller's not so tough now!
@Void_Lover420:
Is that Mars's real power? I thought he was just the creepy quiet guy!
@StarmanFan04:
Dravus has ALL of Starman's powers. And Mars is HOLDING UP???!
@TheRealBoltBaby:
Somebody tell Mars I owe him a pizza if we survive this.
Dravus grinned, wiping blood from his chin. "You've exceeded expectations."
Mr. Mars didn't respond. His breathing was shallow now. One eye swollen shut. But his stance remained.
"Tell me something," Dravus said, circling. "Do you know why I haven't killed you yet?"
Mars narrowed his eyes. "Because you can't."
Dravus smirked. "Wrong answer."
CRACK.
He backhanded Mars across the city, crashing into the ocean, evaporating miles of water.
Dravus floated above the impact crater. "I'm playing with you."
Mars rose slowly, bleeding, cracked. "Liar."
"You felt it." Dravus' voice was cold now. "Every time I pulled my punches. Every moment I let you breathe. You thought we were equals." He leaned in. "You're not."
Mars's expression darkened.
"I'm just the scout."
Silence.
"There are thousands stronger than me on Xypho. Whole warbands of multiversal-levels. You think you've seen war?" He looked up, smiling. "You've seen the greeting."
@HothitUser23:
HE'S JUST A SCOUT????
@NotReadyForThis:
We're screwed. We're so, so screwed.
@MarsDeservesBetter:
He fought all-out and Dravus was holding back the entire time?!
@TrinityBlaze_99:
I thought Starman was top-tier. Xypho has more like him?!
@LetterToBubbleBoy:
TROY. PLEASE. YOU GOTTA STEP IN.
Mars stood still. Blood dripped from his chin. His fists clenched.
"I'm not afraid," he whispered.
"You should be," Dravus replied, lifting into the sky. "Because soon… they're coming. And this world?" He looked at the stars. "Will burn."
Exterior – Central City – Crater
The once-glorious skyline of Central City now lay in ruin, the ground cracked and scorched by the unimaginable battle between Mr. Mars and Dravus. The wind howled louder, a mournful wail echoing through the desolate streets. The shattered remains of buildings stood like silent witnesses to the destruction.
After a bad one sided beating across central city.
Mr. Mars stumbled to his feet, blood staining his alien skin. His breath came in ragged gasps, his body battered and broken, but he refused to fall. The force of the battle had torn apart the land beneath them, the city's very foundation trembling with each strike exchanged between them.
Dravus hovered above, his expression cold and cruel, his eyes gleaming with dark amusement. He had been playing with his prey, savoring the moment, but now the time for games was over. He floated down slowly, his dark aura pulsating like a storm on the horizon.
"I told you," Dravus said with a sneer, "You're not my equal. You never were."
Mars clenched his fists, every movement laced with pain, but his resolve remained unwavering. "You don't know me… You'll never understand."
The cracks in his voice barely masked the weariness he felt. But there was no surrender in his eyes. He would fight until his last breath. He had to. For the people, for the hope that still burned within him.
With a growl of frustration, Mars charged, his fists crackling with the remnants of his fading energy. He lunged at Dravus, but before he could make contact, Dravus raised a hand, effortlessly halting him mid-air with a flick of his wrist.
"Pathetic," Dravus muttered, his fingers tightening around Mars's throat.
The air grew still as Dravus lifted him higher, the pressure tightening like a vice around Mars's neck. His vision blurred, the world spinning. He could feel his strength draining, every breath harder to take.
"Your time is up," Dravus said coldly, before slamming Mars back down into the crater with bone-shattering force.
The impact sent a shockwave through the city, and a cloud of dust and debris erupted into the air. For a moment, everything was silent.
Then, the commentary began.
@GalaxyVision_News:
"Dravus has him. It's over. Mars fought bravely, but it's clear he's outmatched."
@BubbleBoyBeliever77:
"I can't believe it... Mars is done for. No one could've stood a chance against Dravus."
@Void_Lover420:
"I... I thought Mars was unbeatable. Why did he have to fight alone?"
@StarmanFan04:
"This is the end. I don't care who you are. If you're not Dravus, you don't survive. Not now. Not ever."
The dust settled, revealing Mr. Mars lying motionless in the crater, barely clinging to life. His body was broken, the once-proud warrior now reduced to a lifeless form. Dravus floated down, his eyes gleaming with disdain.
Mars's hand twitched, and he coughed, spitting out blood. His lips parted, and through the pain, he managed to whisper, "I... I didn't lose... not yet."
But Dravus's laugh echoed across the battlefield, cruel and devoid of mercy.
"You're already dead, Martian," Dravus said, hovering above him, eyes glowing with malevolent energy. "You just don't know it yet."
With a final, swift motion, Dravus drew his fist back and plunged it into Mars's chest, the sound of bones cracking like thunder. The force was so immense that it shattered Mars's body on impact. A moment of stillness followed.
@HothitUser23:
"No… no! He's gone! Mars is... he's dead!"
@NotReadyForThis:
"This is a nightmare. This can't be happening."
@MarsDeservesBetter:
"The world lost a hero today. Mars... you were the last hope we had."
@TrinityBlaze_99:
"This isn't fair. He fought so hard... and for what? To be killed by that monster?"
Dravus's expression remained unreadable as he withdrew his fist, his gaze never leaving the broken Martian. He watched for a moment, as if savoring the moment of victory.
"You were never meant to win, Mars. This was never about you," he said coldly.
With one final look, Dravus turned, his dark form retreating into the sky.
But it wasn't just the death of Mars that broke the hearts of those watching. It was the realization that they had lost something more, something irreplaceable. The last vestiges of hope.
@BubbleBoyFan86:
"Mars... Mars was our shield. Who will protect us now?"
@StarmanFan04:
"No hero could've survived against Dravus. Mars was the strongest, and even he fell. What does that mean for us?"
@GalaxyVision_News:
"The aftermath of this battle is far-reaching. Mars is dead. And with him, the last flicker of hope for this world. Dravus's threat still looms large, and the Legion is no longer the shining beacon it once was."
But in the silence of the ruins, no answer came.
