Chapter 377: Surprise
He promised himself that after he finished cheering Adriana up, he would teach Nexi a proper lesson.
He reached out suddenly and covered Adriana's eyes with his hands.
"No peeking," he said softly. "I am going to lead you to your surprise. Trust me."
Adriana smiled faintly under his hands and nodded. "Fine. I will trust you."
Peter slowly guided her forward. Adriana followed, careful with her steps.
Some students nearby watched with wide eyes. One of them whispered,
"Adriana is so lucky."
Another nodded in agreement.
"Peter is the heir of this university. With him beside her, no one can ever bully her again. And remember, he already warned everyone that if anyone dares to hurt Adriana, the outcome will not be good."
"Her luck is written with a golden pen," a girl said softly.
But not everyone agreed.
Someone frowned and muttered,
"With her beauty, she could have caught the eye of another wealthy man anyway."
At those words, a few of them thought about Adriana's appearance.
She was striking, a black-haired beauty with rare blue eyes and pale skin.
She looked almost unreal, like a painting come to life.
In the whole campus, no other girl carried the same type of beauty.
Many admitted to themselves that if it was not for Peter, they might have already tried to pursue her.
Adriana, unaware of the gossip around her, let Peter guide her until they reached his car.
He finally let go of her eyes and opened the door for her.
She slid into the passenger seat, still confused.
Peter then pulled out a blindfold and held it out. "Wear this," he said gently.
Adriana hesitated, looking at the blindfold with uncertainty.
"Wait," she said softly. "Let me remind my brother of something first. After I send him a message, I will wear it."
Peter raised an eyebrow but did not rush her. He nodded with patience.
Adriana quickly took out her phone and shared her live location with her siblings.
Then she put her phone away, a hint of shame flickering in her eyes.
She trusted Peter, but she could not deal with the uncertainty lingering in her mind.
What if Nexi had planned this whole thing? What if Peter was only pretending to be kind, and he would lock her up and force her to paint designs for Nexi?
If that happened, she would be helpless, and no one would know where she was.
Since the bullying incident, Lucas had formed the habit of asking her to share her location whenever she felt unsafe.
It had become a small routine of comfort. And now, as much as she wanted to believe in Peter, she felt the same unease creeping in.
Peter noticed.
He saw the shame in her eyes, and his heart ached.
For a second, he wanted to stop everything, hold her tight, and promise her that he would never hurt her.
But he also knew why she felt this way.
Because of Nexi, a crack had appeared in their relationship.
His chest burned with rage, and he thought of storming out to find Nexi and slap her until she regretted everything.
But instead, he swallowed his emotions and forced a small laugh.
"I only wanted to see how you look in a blindfold," he said lightly, changing the subject.
Adriana let out a small sigh of relief and slipped the blindfold over her eyes.
She relaxed into the seat, and Peter started the car.
On the way, he kept talking, telling her small stories, sharing small jokes, and distracting her from her earlier worries.
Adriana listened quietly, sometimes laughing, sometimes rolling her eyes, but the gloomy mood began to lift.
After some time, the car slowed down. "We are here," Peter said.
He parked and helped Adriana out of the car. "Do not take the blindfold off yet," he added.
He guided her for a short distance, his hand steady on hers.
Finally, he stopped and whispered near her ear, "Now you can take it off."
Adriana pulled the blindfold away and blinked. For a moment, her heart pounded.
They were standing in a forest, tall trees surrounding them.
She felt uneasy, but before she could panic, Peter's calm voice echoed in her ears.
"This is a mountain area just ten minutes away from the city," he explained.
Her body relaxed at once. She nodded and asked softly, "Why did you bring me here?"
Peter smiled and reached out his hand.
Adriana hesitated for only a moment before placing her hand in his.
He led her forward, and soon the sound of rushing water reached her ears. When they turned a corner, a waterfall came into view.
Adriana's eyes widened in awe.
The water sparkled under the sunlight, tumbling down into a clear pool below.
For a moment, she forgot everything else and just admired the sight.
But soon she noticed something strange.
There were workers nearby, busy with tools and plans. She turned to Peter in confusion.
He explained calmly, "This place is going to be turned into a resort soon."
Her eyebrows raised. "Is this the resort you are going to own?" she asked.
Peter nodded, then shook his head.
"Yes, it is being built by me. But no, it will not be under my name."
Adriana tilted her head.
"Then who is it for? Did someone invest in your company?"
Peter looked at her tenderly, then lifted her hand and pressed a soft kiss on it. Adriana froze, her cheeks burning red again.
"This resort," Peter said gently, "is going to be under your name."
Adriana's eyes went wide. "What?"
Peter smiled and explained,
"The government will soon develop this entire mountain area into a new city. When that happens, the value of this land will rise, almost like the land in New York City. I bought the rights early, and all the documents are under your name already. This resort is yours. Once the building cost is recovered, the ownership will fully belong to you."
Adriana felt her heart tremble.
Her lips parted, but no words came out.
She looked at Peter in disbelief. "Are you telling the truth?" she whispered.
Peter chuckled softly and met her gaze. "Adriana, I never lie to you."
