Chapter 363: Funding
Olivia continued, "That villa is in a place where many film industry people want to shoot, but don't have enough funds to pay for such a high-end location."
Alex's eyes widened as if a light bulb had gone off in his mind.
Olivia leaned a little closer and whispered, "The rent could easily reach one hundred thousand dollars per day. You could earn three million dollars in just one month."
Alex's heart seemed to swell with realization. He had never thought about it that way.
He nodded slowly, feeling grateful for Olivia's advice. "I will thank you for that suggestion by giving you a portion of the profit," he said softly.
Olivia waved her hand in a dismissive manner and said in a playful tone, "If that is the case, then I won't be humble about it."
Her words made several people around them chuckle softly. Even Aurora rolled her eyes, unable to hide her amusement.
"If I didn't know better," Aurora said teasingly, "I would think you consulted Ms. Dawn to gift Alex the real estate, just so you could suggest ideas like this and get a share."
Olivia simply smiled and replied, "Oh, Aurora, don't be jealous that you don't have a share of it."
Alex looked at Aurora secretly, an idea forming in his mind. He decided then and there that, in secret, he would transfer some of the shares of his company under Aurora's name.
Even though he owned most of the company shares, its value wasn't high enough yet to present as a gift to every member of the Porter family.
But once his company reached billionaire status, he would do so openly.
Of course, he was biased.
His mother and Aurora would always be given a larger portion than others.
After the party started to wind down and people began to chatter more casually, Alex suddenly felt he should talk to Lucas in private. He found a quiet corner away from the rest of the guests and gently called Lucas over.
"Lucas," Alex began, his voice low but kind, "I heard that you quit your job and are planning to start your own company."
Lucas looked up at him, surprise evident in his eyes. He nodded slowly, confirming the truth. "Yes, that's true."
Alex smiled softly. "If you don't mind, I can introduce you to Ms. Dawn," he said.
"She is one of the biggest investors around. I'm sure she would be interested in your project."
Lucas looked at Alex for a moment.
Then he shook his head, his expression serious. "Thank you, Alex, but I want to do it myself," he said firmly. "I appreciate your help, but I don't want to ask her for favors. I want to make a name for myself with my own hands."
Lucas's heart was touched.
He knew he was proud, but this was even more than pride.
He had a strong will to succeed, to prove his worth without relying on others, even someone as powerful as Ms. Dawn.
He also knew that Ms. Dawn was not just any investor; she was second only to Victor Hawthorne himself. The fact that his family had offended Victor long ago left Ms. Dawn as the only high-level investor left.
Lucas continued, "What if she refuses? It could strain your relationship with her. I can't let you risk that."
Alex chuckled softly, full of understanding and confidence. "It's okay," he replied calmly.
"Even if it creates a strain, I am ready to accept the risk. Lucas, you're my brother. Nothing matters more to me than your success. If this causes trouble, I'll simply apologize and not mention it again."
Hearing such words, Lucas was deeply moved. He looked at Alex and shook his head with a small smile.
"I will find my own way," he said. "But thank you for the offer. I know you want to help, and I appreciate that."
Alex nodded without pushing further. He understood Lucas's pride, his strong desire to make it on his own. So instead, he patted Lucas gently on the shoulder and said softly, "If you ever need help, just let me know. I'll be there."
Lucas nodded, a little emotional, and then left the corner with a determined look in his eyes.
After Lucas walked away, Alex stayed silent for a moment, thinking deeply.
Unbeknownst to him, Aurora, who had just come out of the restroom, had been standing nearby, quietly listening.
Even though she had never wanted to hack into her own brother's phone, today was different.
Lucas's behavior had seemed too mysterious for too long. He came home late, left early, and acted as if he was hiding something serious.
Aurora didn't know at first that Lucas was searching for investors for his business.
Today, she finally had the chance to hear the truth. Her thoughtful eyes shone softly as she took out her phone and dialed Emily's number.
Emily picked up calmly. "Hello, Aurora. What can I do for you?"
Aurora spoke in a low, serious tone.
"Emily, reach out to Lucas on your own. Don't mention that you're Ms. Dawn's assistant. Instead, approach him as a helpful person. Learn about his business plan. Help him improve it so that when he eventually presents it to me, the document will be strong and perfect."
Emily responded immediately, "Understood. I'll do it."
Aurora's expression softened as she hung up. She knew Lucas deserved this chance.
He didn't ask for help, but she would give it without him knowing. He had worked so hard, and this was the right moment to support him.
Later that night, as the Waters family slowly returned home from the party, the atmosphere was calm.
Mary, who had been quiet for most of the night, seemed to gather courage.
"Alex," she said gently, "if you want, you can come live with us from now on."
Her words caused everyone to stop and look at Alex in surprise. His eyes widened slightly, but he smiled warmly. "Thank you, Mother," he said.
"But I'm in a very critical stage of building my company. I can't slack off now."
